  • ‘Petty and unnecessary’: Twitter slams Neetu Kapoor for barb at Ranbir’s ex-girlfriends

Twitter has lashed out at Veteran Bollywood actor Neetu Kapoor for a questionable Instagram post. The actor uploaded a photo on Instagram which many felt was aimed directly at her son Ranbir Kapoor’s ex-girlfriends, Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif.

The picture was of a poster on a wall, which read: “Just because he dated you for seven years doesn’t mean that he would marry you. My uncle studied medicine for six years and now he is a DJ.”

Kapoor and Padukone had dated for two years before parting ways while the ‘Tu Jhooti Mein Makkar’ actor was in a relationship with Kaif for six years.

Finding the post problematic, fans lashed out at Kapoor for resorting to sexist and degrading jokes.

Many shared previous clips detailing the late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu’s marriage problems, when he had been caught cheating on her with several women to point out the irony in Kapoor’s comment.

Twitter users also criticised Kapoor for making such sexist comments about women, rather than directly addressing how it is men who refuse to be faithful in relationships and even pointed to how this has led to her son, Ranbir Kapoor, behaving in such a misogynist manner in several interviews towards his wife Alia Bhatt.

Ranbir Kapoor under fire once more after comment on Alia Bhatt goes viral

Ranbir Kapoor is once more being criticized by fans for his insensitive comments about his wife, Alia Bhatt.

The ‘Tu Jhooti Mein Makkar’ actor was previously called a misogynist by the internet when he was seen body shaming Bhatt during a livestream, while Bhatt had been pregnant with their baby, Raha.

Kapoor is being criticized this time for a remark he made during an interview with ‘GOODTiMES. The ‘Brahmastra’ actor said he doesn’t want their baby Raha to have Alia’s personality, since the ‘Gangubai’ actor is very loud and ‘talks a lot’:

“I just hope she has my personality rather than hers because I can’t have two women like Alia in the house,” he said. “Alia has a very boisterous personality; she talks quite loud and is vivacious. Two girls at home like that would be quite a daunting task for me. I hope Raha is a bit more quiet and demure like me so then we both can handle Alia.”

Since this interview went online, Twitter users have slammed Kapoor as insensitive and misogynist for refusing to recognize how such comments about Bhatt are extremely hurtful.

One user wrote: “I hate guys who do this to their wives. This low key mocking of their demeanor which they then pass on to the kids. Very common in Indian families.”

Another user wrote “oh god oh god oh god if you don’t like your wives just say that stop making jokes at the expense of their literal personality and get a life”

Many users were pointing out that Kapoor’s action was one of most common traits through which men put down confident and loud women by mocking and publicly humiliating them.

Kapoor passed away in 2020 at the age of 67 from leukemia.

At a press conference ahead of his upcoming movie ‘Tu Jhooti Mein Makaar’, the Indian Express reports that the actor revealed he missed his father everyday and had gotten incredibly emotional about the experience of losing one parent, and how it has shaped his relationship with his daughter:

“I miss him a lot. I miss him every day. Especially now, I have seen The Romantics and hearing him talk I felt really emotional. I remember that day when he was shooting for the show – the next day, he was admitted to the hospital and we lost him in a month’s time. Losing a parent is a very big deal in anyone’s life. I think of him every day. I am also blessed with a daughter. I feel like somewhere he would have been very happy for this moment in my life. He is with me every day. My phone’s wallpaper still has him.”

The ‘Tamasha’ actor had previously talked about his experience of parenting with his wife Alia Bhatt, and revealed that currently his wife and child were in Kashmir and he was missing them both:

“Naturally your heart, body and mind wants to do everything for your child. Unfortunately, Alia is shooting in Kashmir and has taken Raha away with her. I’m terribly missing them both. They are going to be back (in Mumbai) after another five days. So, I am looking forward to that. Alia and me, both being actors, and both being busy at work, we will have to divide our priorities to balance it out.”

“In the back of my mind I know there’s one thing that’s gonna live eternally with me till the day I die which is the love, and joy and the gratefulness that I feel. I haven’t felt that towards anything, any person, any movie, anything professionally,” the new father said.

    Alia’s Take On Motherhood

Alia was recently questioned about becoming a mother at the peak of her career. The Raazi star said, “There is no right or wrong in life. What works for me might not work for someone else. I have always been someone who listens to my heart. You can’t plan life. Life plans itself and you just have to follow that path. Whether it’s films or anything else, I always let my heart decide. Yes, at the peak of my career, I decided to get married and have a baby. But who says that marriage or motherhood will change anything to do with my work? Even if it does, so be it. I don’t care. I knew that in life, I would never regret the decision to have a baby. It’s a natural instinct. It’s the best decision that I have ever made. I have never been happier or more fulfilled.”

According to reports, the entire Kapoor and Bhat family are against exposing the baby to shutterbugs. Several videos and pictures of Alia and her baby girl are doing the rounds on the internet. However, as it turns out, all these pictures and videos are fake.

The Brahmastra duo will also not allow anyone to visit their baby without a covid negative certificate. As newborns are prone to infections, the couple is extremely cautious of the baby’s health. Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is known for her unfiltered statements. From calling out ‘movie mafia’ to slamming filmmaker Karan Johar, she has always bluntly raised her points. Now she has accused director Mahesh Bhatt of casually inciting people for violence.

The Queen actor took to her verified Instagram handle and shared a series of video stories, which featured Mahesh Bhatt. In the videos, Bhatt can be addressing a crowd. Ranaut also alleged that his ‘real name’ was not Mahesh, but ‘Aslam’. In the following story, which had another part of the same video, she wrote, “I am told his (Mahesh Bhatt) real name is Aslam… he converted to marry his second wife (Soni Razdan)… it is a beautiful name, why hide it?”

Kangana added, “He must use his real name, not represent a certain religion, when he has converted…”

She further wrote, “He must use his real name, not represent a certain religion when he has converted.”

This was not the first time when the 35-year-old actor has targeted the veteran director. In 2020, she had accused the filmmaker of assaulting her when she turned down his daughter Pooja Bhatt’s film. On the other hand, before the release of Mahesh’s daughter Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, Ranaut had taken an indirect dig at father-daughter duo. While slamming them on her Instagram stories, she said that the film’s blunder was “wrong casting,” referring to Alia as “daddy’s angel” and Mahesh as “movie mafia.”

Earlier this year the Woh Lamhe siren strongly criticised a video of a little girl who recreated a scene of Alia Bhatt’s upcoming biopic film, Gangubai Kathiawadi. An Instagram influencer, Kiara Khanna who is also known as ‘chhoti Alia Bhatt’, re-enacted a dialogue of Alia from her upcoming film which went viral across social media.

She penned, “Should this child imitate a sex worker with a beedi in her mouth and crude and obscene dialogues? Look at her body language, is it ok to sexualize her at this age? There are hundreds of other children who are being used similarly.”

The film is based on the life of a real sex worker based in Mumbai who is mentioned in the book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ by S. Hussain Zaidi. It is being released under the banner of Bhansali Productions with the collaboration of Pen India Limited. Ajay Devgn and Vijay Raaz will also be seen in interesting roles.

  • Alia Bhatt is annoyed with sexism in Bollywood, speaks her heart out

Alia Bhatt is annoyed with sexism in Bollywood, speaks her heart out

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt recently discussed in an interview how she has occasionally encountered casual misogyny and has heard sexist remarks in Bollywood.

The Raazi star claimed that she did not recognise the sexism in such remarks early in her, however now such sexist remarks irritates her.

When asked if she had faced casual sexism in Bollywood like fellow women producers and actors, the Student Of The Year actor replied, “I think from time to time I have faced that– casual sexism. Many times I would not notice it. When I think back now because I am so much more aware of it, it just makes so much sense as ‘oh my god that was such a sexist comment, or that I was basically a subject of extreme misogyny in that moment. That’s why now I am so much more sensitive. Sometimes my friends go like ‘what’s wrong with you, why have you become so aggressive?’”

The actress said, ‘But it is not about her, people say don’t be so sensitive, you are being so sensitive, have you had periods.’ I say, ‘I am not getting sensitive and even if I am on my period, then what? You were also born because of this because women have periods.’

She added, “I get very angry when people say these random things. Things like ‘Your bra shouldn’t be on the bed, hide your bra. Hey, why hide it? It’s clothes, you’re shining your underwear, so I’m not saying anything. It’s not that all this happened to me but I understand how you as a woman should hide a lot of things.”

She further mentioned, “But it’s not about that, just random things like ‘don’t be so sensitive, you’re being so sensitive, are you PMSing. To hell with you, I am not being sensitive, and even if I am PMSing so the hell what? You were born because women were PMSing. It gets me so annoying when people say these random things. It’s just casual.”

Earlier this year Alia took to her Instagram stories to share a screenshot of a post by Pinkvilla that claimed the Gangubai Kathiawadi star would return to Mumbai, India in mid-July and that her husband Ranbir Kapoor would especially fly to the UK to bring his wife back home as she is pregnant and needs care.

The post also read that Bhatt will be taking a rest after she returns from her shoot, suggesting that the diva had planned her pregnancy in a way that doesn’t affect her shoot schedule. The post concluded that Bhatt would be wrapping up her films Heart of Stone and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani before the end of July.

Alia captioned her post while re-sharing that in some “peoples heads we still live in some patriarchal world” and confirmed that nothing has been delayed. “No one needs to PICK anyone up. I am a woman, not a parcel!!!! I do not need to REST at all but good to know you’ll have a doctor’s certification as well.”

She emphasized that this is 2022 and requested that people could get out of the “archaic” way of thinking. “Now if you would excuse me.. my shot is ready,” she concluded suggesting that she won’t be “resting” at home.

Multiple Pakistani actresses have extended their support to Bhatt with heartwarming posts.

Pakistani actors Zara Noor Abbas and Durefishan Saleem lent support to the Bollywood star and took to their Instagram stories to write that women don’t have to prove anything.

Zara wrote that she thought this happens only in Pakistan, recounting how brands wanted to drop her after finding out that she was expecting.

“Becoming pregnant and being an actress makes the society feel you are not good for work anymore. Well guess what, WOMEN are good enough for everything and anything and it’s time the dictators realise so. We don’t have to prove our motherhood and craft to any patriarchy,” penned the Zebaish star.

Kesi Teri Khudgarzi diva Dur-e-Fishan Saleem also shared Alia’s Instagram story to her own and wrote, “We can get married/make babies and still be kick a** fab. Marriage is a part of life not a [halt].” She also said people need to stop telling women that their career goals don’t align well with that.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia is all set for the release of her maiden production film, Darlings, which is scheduled to release on August 5, 2022, on Netflix.
