‘Civilised world must unite to defeat Hamas’: Netanyahu meets Biden

President Biden landed in Tel Aviv, Israel, today, to meet PM Benjamin Netanyahu, less than a day after more than 500 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike at a hospital.

Without any proof to back up his claim, Biden said that the al-Ahli Arab Hospital bombing seems to be carried out by the “other team, not you”, indirectly putting the blame on Palestinians.

Last night, following the attack, Biden took to X to say that he had directed his “national security team to continue gathering information about what exactly happened”.

However, his claims are already inclined in support of Israel. Al- Jazeera reports that he also drew comparisons of Hamas to ISIL (ISIS), saying that atrocities committed by Hamas militants made ISIS look “somewhat rational”.

Biden also posted on X saying “I’m proud to be in Israel to honor the courage, commitment, and bravery of the Israeli people.

Americans are grieving with you following last week’s terror attacks.”

On the other hand, Netanyahu asserted that Israel will do everything to ensure the protection of civilians. Contrary to his words, more than 3,000 Palestinians have been killed.

And while both the leaders were in a meeting, it was reported by Al Jazeera that a residential building in Khan Younis was targeted which resulted in the death of seven people and left forty seriously injured.

Landlord stabs Palestinian- American child to death, injures mother in hate crime

Joseph Czuba, a 71-year-old man has stabbed a six-year-old Palestinian-American boy to death while also injuring his 32-year-old mother in Plainfield, Illinois USA in what local police have confirmed is a hate crime.

The Palestinian-American family was reportedly attacked by the man after he got influenced watching and reading about the conflict in the Middle East.

Czuba reportedly shouted “You Muslims must die” as he entered the family’s rented home and attacked the mother. When she ran to the bathroom to call 911, Czuba stabbed six-year-old 26 times, killing him on the spot.

President Joe Biden has released a statement, saying that he is “sickened” by the incident.

“This horrific act of hate has no place in America, and stands against our fundamental values: freedom from fear for how we pray, what we believe, and who we are,” he said.

“As Americans, we must come together and reject Islamophobia and all forms of bigotry and hatred.”

Czuba has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, hate crimes and aggravated battery.

Will County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday that they received an emergency call while the woman was fighting the killer.

She “ran into the bathroom and continued to fight off her attacker”, he explained.

By the time the police reached the scene, the mother and the child had “multiple stab wounds to their chest, torso, and upper extremities”.

Bothwere taken to hospital, but the boy who was reportedly stabbed 26 times couldn’t survive the attack.

Czuba, on the other hand, sat “upright outside on the ground near the driveway of the residence.”

“Detectives were able to determine that both victims in this brutal attack were targeted by the suspect due to them being Muslim and the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict involving Hamas and the Israelis,” the Sheriff’s office added.

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago) identified the boy as Wadea al-Fayoume, and his mother as Hanaan Shahin.

Wadea was born in the US, while his mother was originally from Beitunia in the West Bank and came to the country 12 years ago.

According to CAIR-Chicago executive director Ahmed Rehab, Wadea had celebrated his birthday only a few weeks back.

Saudi prince MBS kept U.S. Secretary waiting for hours

Only a couple of weeks back, the US was apparently succeeding in normalising the relationship between Saudi Arabia, arguably the most powerful Muslim country, and Israel. And while Saudi Arabia commenced talks, they made it clear that they will never compromise on their pro-Palestinian stance.

However, the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7 and the consequential escalation has created a gulf between Saudi Arabia and Israel as well as Saudi Arabia and America.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been visiting the Arab world to persuade them to side with Washington’s narrative on the Israel-Hamas war.

Washington Post has reported that after meeting Egypt’s Abdel Fatah El-Sisi and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Blinken told reporters on Sunday that “I heard a lot of good ideas about some of the things we need to do moving forward.”
However, there came a conflict of views when it came to Israel’s right to wage intensified war in Gaza as both the Arab leaders do not approve of it.

It was further reported that in Riyadh, “the Saudi ruler kept Blinken waiting several hours for a meeting presumed to happen in the evening but which the crown prince only showed up for the next morning.”

While the US is in full support of Israel’s operations in besieged Gaza, El-Sisi and MBS, both stressed on the need for the Israeli forces to stop the attacks.

MBS also stressed on lifting the siege of Gaza that has deprived residents of water, food, electricity and more.

On the other hand, Sisi pointed out that Israel’s attacks have crossed “the right of self-defense,” and turned into “collective punishment.”

And while he condemned Hamas, he blamed Israel for the devastating situation of the Palestinian.

When Blinken brought into conversation his own Jewish heritage, Sisi, who himself grew up with Jew neighbours in Egypt, replied, “You said that you are a Jewish person and I am an Egyptian person who grew up next to Jews in Egypt. They have never been subjected to any form of oppression or targeting and it has never happened in our region that Jews were targeted in recent or old history.”

Donald Trump thinks Hezbollah is ‘very smart’

While lambasting Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu, former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump appreciated Hezbollah for being “very smart”. While speaking to a rally of supporters in Florida, Trump did not hold back and even called the Israeli Defence Minister a “jerk” for stating on national TV that he hopes they don’t attack from the North because they did the following morning. He said that these “statements are passed when you’re doing a con-job and fully prepared but in actual you were not. Israel was not prepared.”

Earlier he claimed to have read Biden’s security papers where it was mentioned that he hopes Hezbolllah does not attack from the North because that is the most vulnerable spot. He praises the group’s intelligence that they (Hezbollah) are all very smart and they know the weak-spots.

He carried on by accusing Iran of being a potentially big, vicious force that Israel is fighting and he advised the latter to straighten themselves up.

He reminisced about the time he was disappointed by Israel when Netanyahu let them (USA) down while countering Iran-hinting at the target killing of General Qasim Sulemani-he still wants Israel to get it right this time.

Trump’s criticism of Biden is not a surprise but in his interview to Fox News he asserted that, “We have to protect Israel, there’s no choice.” He goes on by saying “He(Netanyahu) is hurt very badly, he was not prepared and Israel was not prepared. And under Trump they wouldn’t have to be prepared…”

His statements have invited a lot of criticism from various fronts. “[I]t is absurd that anyone, much less someone running for President, would choose now to attack our friend and ally, Israel, much less praise Hezbollah terrorists as ‘very smart,’” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

White House called these statements as “dangerous and unhinged.”

Former New Jersey governor Chris Christie called Trump “a fool” for his remarks on Hezbollah and Netanyahu.

This has infuriated people and Trump knows it when he said that the media comes at him for calling President XI of China “smart” too but he remarks nonchalantly, that he “gotta say” what he has to say.

Pakistan’s Namira Saleem set to launch into space

The Galactic 04 spaceflight will take off today carrying three passengers, including a Pakistani, Namira Salim.

On Tuesday, Virgin Galactic announced a day’s delay in the space tourism mission to Friday, October 6.

“The slip will give our team an additional day to complete vehicle prep and checks,” they wrote on their X account. “We look forward to taking to the skies (on Friday)!”

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar congratulated Namira Salim for becoming the first woman from Pakistan to go into space.

“By proving their mettle as trailblazers in multiple fields, Pakistani women are making the whole nation proud,” Kakar had written on his X account, wishing her luck.

Namira Salim is a Pakistani polar adventurer and artist based in Monaco and Dubai.

The other two passengers are British advertising executive Trevor Beattie and American astronomy educator Ron Rosano.

Virgin Galactic’s carrier plane VMS Eve will be piloted by Pakistani-Canadian Jameel Janjua alongside Kelly Latimer and CJ Sturckow

    Galactic 04

Galactic 04 will take off from Spaceport America in New Mexico, carrying the passengers to suborbital space and back. In simpler words, suborbital flight is a short journey into space where a spaceship goes up but does not stay in space. It leaves the earth’s atmosphere for a brief time and comes back right after. It is a quick trip to experience weightlessness and witness space. Unlike an orbital spaceflight, it does not circle the earth.

Space.com explains that the space tourists will be carried by Virgin’s VSS Unity space plane taken into the sky by a carrier craft named VMS Eve. Eve will drop Unity at an altitude of about 50,000 feet (15,000 meters); the space plane will then fire up its rocket motor to get to suborbital space.

“VSS Unity passengers get to experience a few minutes of weightlessness and see Earth against the blackness of space. A ticket to ride the space plane currently costs $450,000”.

American millionaire drives at 16 mph in attempt to live forever

Bryan Johnson is an American entrepreneur who is allegedly spending millions of dollars on an attempt to live longer than most individuals.

The 46-year-old biotech entrepreneur has a longing for feeling 18-years-old again, and in his efforts to achieve that, he has an expensive routine tied with hopes of reversing his age.

    Credit: Business Insider

Insider reports that Johnson spends about $2 million every year on an experimental program called Project Blueprint. His goal is to reduce his biological age and live forever.

Johnson wakes up at 5 a.m., takes more than 100 supplements per day, his diet is calculated and he has his dinner (final and third meal of the day) at 11 a.m.

He also goes to gym for cardio and weight training; and undergoes treatments like red light therapy and ultrasounds. He exposes himself to a laser face-shield to reduce collagen loss and wrinkles.

Johnson works from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., spends two and half hours for ‘family time’, relaxation, skincare, and dental care and goes to sleep by 8:30 p.m.

He has kept his routine so calculated and is so adamant in living forever that he drives as slowly as 16 mph in Los Angeles since he believes that, “Driving is the most dangerous thing we do.”

“What would be a more beautiful irony than me getting hit by a bus and dying?” he told TIME.

He has also pointed out that according to the data compiled by his doctors, he has the bones of a 30-year-old and the heart of a 37-year-old, but doctors remain dubious of his lifestyle and its possible outcomes since there is not enough research to support the success of his project.

Israeli minister visits Saudi Arabia in a first

Israeli tourism minister, Haim Katz, visited Saudi Arabia for a United Nations (UN) conference. It is said to be the first public trip of an Israeli cabinet member to Saudi Arabia.

Leading a delegation, Katz arrived in Riyadh to attend the UN event on Tuesday.

“Cooperation in the field of tourism has the potential to bring hearts together, and economic progress,” Katz stated.

The meeting has been held a few days after US President Joe Biden urged the establishment of formal ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

“I think such a peace would go a long way first to advance the end of the Arab-Israeli conflict, achieve reconciliation between the Islamic world and the Jewish state, and advance a genuine peace between Israel and the Palestinians. This is something within our reach,” Israeli prime minister had said to Biden.

On Tuesday, the same day as Saudi Arabia and Israel met, a Saudi delegation went to the occupied West Bank — first in three decades — to reassure Palestinians that despite the improving relationship with Israel, Saudi Arabia will continue to stand by Palestinians.

“The Palestinian matter is a fundamental pillar,” said Naif bin Bandar Al Sudairi, head of the Saudi delegation and new ambassador to Palestine. He met with top Palestinian diplomat Riyad al-Maliki in Ramallah.

  • US places visa restrictions on Bangladeshis as conflict continues

US places visa restrictions on Bangladeshis as conflict continues

The US Department State has released a statement on Friday stating that the country will be imposing visa restrictions on “Bangladeshi individuals responsible for, or complicit in, undermining the democratic election process in Bangladesh”.

In the statement, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said that the step is a reflection of America’s commitment to supporting “Bangladesh’s goal of peacefully holding free and fair national elections, and to support those seeking to advance democracy globally,”

The people in question are members of law enforcement, the ruling party, and the political opposition including current and former Bangladeshi officials, members of opposition and ruling political parties, and members of law enforcement, the judiciary, and security services.

Moreover, any other individual or personnel found “responsible for, or complicit in, undermining the democratic election process in Bangladesh may also be found ineligible for US visas under this policy in the future”

“The United States is committed to supporting free and fair elections in Bangladesh that are carried out in a peaceful manner,” the statement read.

Previously this year, in May, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the new visa policy under Section 212(a)(3)(C) (“3C”) of the Immigration and Nationality Act to support Bangladesh’s goal of holding free, fair, and peaceful national elections.

Under this policy, the US could restrict the issuance of visas for any Bangladeshi individual found guilty in tampering with the election results.

The United States has said it will not release the names or numbers of people in Bangladesh subject to the visa restrictions.

Reported by Dhaka Tribune, US Embassy Spokesperson Bryan Schiller told UNB that “Visa records are confidential under US law,” and so, the names or numbers of people will not be revealed.

He further added that the imposition of the restriction has been done “After a careful review of the evidence”

On the contrary, Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Md Shahriar Alam responded to the update stating that the government has “nothing to lose and that they are not worried about the visa restrictions issue, as they are doing nothing wrong”.

  • American entrepreneur paying $4 per hour criticised for exploiting Pakistanis

American entrepreneur paying $4 per hour criticised for exploiting Pakistanis

A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday is being criticised by users. The video, which features an X user named Christian, says that he remotely hires people from Pakistan to work for him.

He has a marketing agency and he stated he pays his employees $4 an hour and “they’re extremely grateful to be working with me”.

Christian explains that he hires a virtual assistant from Pakistan for administrative level tasks for his business like formatting spreadsheets, setting up email accounts and pays them 4 USD an hour.

He justifies the meagre amount by expounding that an average monthly income in Pakistan is 280 USD, but as he is paying them four USD an hour, they are getting 160 USD a week or 640 USD a month, which is almost 3 times the average income, “a really great living for them”, he adds.

    “They live very very well.”

He also added that if they perform well, the pay can be raised up to $7 an hour which is 4-6 times the average monthly income of a typical person in Pakistan.

“They’re really grateful to be working with me because of the money they make. They have a great income, I get a great employee — it’s a win win.”

    He, however, concluded the video keeping in mind the expected criticism;

“Before you leave a comment, yes i have US based employees. Yes, they make way more than $4 an hour. I’m just saying for this specific task, I pay a Pakistani assistant $4 an hour and they are very appreciative of it.”

While some appreciated his work, many have criticised him for exploiting people from developing countries by paying them less than those from developed countries.

  • Who is the first Pakistani to travel into space?

Virgin Galactic will be flying into space on October 5, carrying three space tourists, including one Pakistani.

Virgin Galactic is a spaceflight company that launched its first commercial space tourism flight on June 29, 2023.

On Thursday, the company announced the launch of Galactic 04, its fourth commercial spaceflight and ninth space mission overall.

It will host three space tourists from the US, the UK, and Pakistan. It will be the first time that a Pakistani will fly to space.

The names of the crewmembers are yet to be released but as per our research, Namira Salim from Pakistan will be onboard.

Salim is a Pakistani polar adventurer and artist based in Monaco and Dubai.

Galactic 04 will take off from Spaceport America in New Mexico, carrying the passengers to suborbital space and back.
