  • Indians are having a meltdown over Aamir Khan’s meeting with Turkish first lady Emine Erdoğan

Aamir Khan, who is currently in Turkey for the shooting of his film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, has met the Turkish first lady, Emine Erdoğan, drawing strong reactions from Indians, who are not happy with the meeting that took place Saturday, India’s Independence day.

According to reports, Aamir had requested the meeting, as he wanted to update Erdoğan about the work of Paani Foundation, a non-profit organisation set up by the actor and his wife Kiran Rao.

The main reason behind Indians’ outrage was that Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan has always condemned Indian brutality in occupied Kashmir and extended his support to Pakistan and Kashmiris following the troubled valley’s illegal annexation.

The Kashmir conflict can be solved not by conflict or oppression, but on the basis of justice and fairness, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had said in his address to Pakistani parliament in Islamabad.

The Turkish leader had also called President of Pakistan on Eidul Azha and shared their views on different issues.

A tweet by the president’s office read, “President Dr Arif Alvi and President Erdoğan exchanged Eidul Azha greetings in a telephonic conversation. Important matters, including Kashmir and COVID-19 were discussed.”

With Aamir meeting Erdoğan, Indians called him “anti-national” and expressed their disappointment.

Amir Khan, Faryal Makhdoom set up a fund in memory of Zohra Shah

Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom have announced that they have set up a Child Protection Fund in memory of eight-year-old Zohra Shah, a child maid who was brutally killed by her employers. The couple said that they will be financially assisting Zohra’s family and countless other child abuse victims.

Faryal shared that she and Amir had spoken to Zohra’s father and would be taking responsibility for ‘providing their needs’, including schooling their other children. She also said that they will ensure that Zohra will get justice.

Later, in a series on Instagram stories, Makhdoom discussed Zohra’s case and shared the details about the fund and the help they will be offering Zohra’s family.

Faryal said that she was receiving loads of messages asking why Zohra’s parents sent their minor daughter to work. She shared that they didn’t.

“The father has told us that he has 6 kids and he sent Zohra to Islamabad with her khala (maternal aunt) to study there. The khala then put Zohra to work where she was beaten to death.”

Faryal also claimed that Zohra’s family was offered only six thousand rupees as settlement for Zohra’s death.

She added that she has Zohra’s family’s word that they will not settle the matter and Zohra will get justice.

Eight-year-old child maid Zohra Shah was allegedly beaten to death by her employers for releasing their prized parrots from a cage. According to reports, she opened the cage to feed the birds on Sunday, only for the birds to fly away. This enraged her employers who then beat her unconscious before dumping her at a nearby hospital. She died of her injuries. The couple behind the heinous crime has been arrested.

Boxer Amir Khan calls out PTI minister for taking credit for squash players’ treatment

Federal minister Ali Haider Zaidi and boxer Amir Khan have engaged in a Twitter fight over taking credit for supporting former Pakistan number one squash player Riffat Khan.

Riffat Khan underwent knee surgery last week at Shiffa International Hospital to revive her career. She had earlier requested the Prime Minister Imran Khanto help her after Squash Federation, Sports Board and relevant authorities had refused to help her.

After media channels highlighted her story, former boxing champion Aamir Khan responded to her call and announced to help her. At the same time, Dr. Shireen Mazari, reportedly, said that minister Ali Zaidi, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, will bear all the expenses of Riffat’s operation.

Riffat was, then got operated on November 13 and was released from the hospital on 14th.

Following that, the British-Pakistani boxer tweeted the news item on Riffat’s improved health announcing that Aamir Khan Foundation supported her and paid for the athlete.

Ali Zaidi responded quickly to that tweet saying that it was his ministry, not Aamir Khan who paid for the operation.

“To set the record straight, PNSC paid for her operation! I heard Amir Khan offered to pay and many thanks for that, but Maritime government had already stepped in. Therefore, please take credit where it’s due,” tweeted the minister.

Replying to Ali Zaidi’s tweet, Aamir posted the bank transaction details on his twitter account saying he paid 334,569 rupees for the operation, the government didn’t.

Soon after these exhanges between the minister and the boxer, journalist Faizan Lakhani while replying to minister’s tweet said, “Actually both of you helped her. I have seen evidence of Amir sending her money & the athlete has also confirmed you both helped her. Aamir stepped in only after relevant people in government had refused to help her, you also reacted to same news story. You both deserve credit”.

In another interview post her surgery, Riffat had highlighted the government’s treatment towards her before her issue came to media.

“I was broken, disheartened and shattered by the insulting behavior and I was simply very upset with Acting PSB Director General Amna Imran, who should have realized my pain and agony, rather than keeping me waiting outside her office for an hour,” she had said.

  • Boxer Amir Khan expresses desire to become sports minister

British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan has said that he would like to become the sports minister in Pakistan to promote sports, Geo News reported.

According to the details, Amir in an interview has alleged that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has done ‘nothing for sports in Pakistan’ after coming to power, adding that he is the only person that does anything for sports.

Amir Khan, who is a friend of PM Imran, said that “all the people in Pakistan are crying”, and credited himself for taking Pakistani boxers around the world to put them in fights.

The boxer further alleged that a government minister visited his boxing academy, made some pictures and left, and nothing was done after that.

“There should be at least 10-15 boxing academies in Pakistan because there are so many boxers in Pakistan but nothing’s happening so that’s why I said that Imran khan, being a sports man, he is not really backing sports”, Amir said.

He also feared that sports are “probably going down even more than before because Nawaz Sharif is the one who got the Sports Council of Pakistan to give me the boxing academy, then I spent my own money around $100,000 on it to build it up but all I say is that Imran Khan is less supporting boxing”.

Amir Khan also expressed desire to enter in Pakistani politics, saying that he will do something for people if he became sports minister.

Amir Khan often attended fundraising events with PM Imran in Manchester in the past. The prime minister had at one event promised to take people like Amir Khan to Pakistan.
