Video jockey and television actor Anoushey Ashraf recently engaged with fans in a Q&A session on Instagram, sharing personal insights just days after getting married.
Ashraf answered various questions, including one about her pets. When asked if she would bring her pets to her new home after marriage, she replied, “My husband lives in London! We had a Nikkah and are planning an intimate wedding soon, Inshallah. The dog goes where I go. They’re family and we don’t abandon family, ever.”
Another question was about moving abroad with her husband. Ashraf said, “Have no solid plans yet but we will be travelling a lot! Yay.”
Ashraf also expressed gratitude for her younger female fans, especially a mother whose daughter finds her inspiring. She warmly replied, “Thank you so much. These messages make me so happy. May God bless you tenfold. And lots of love to all your children. May their future be bright, and may they grow up to be happy and wise.”
In response to a fan who shared their struggle with loneliness while traveling, Ashraf offered empathetic advice. She said, “Loneliness can’t be taken away by a wrong partnership or marriage. Don’t rush. Have faith in the process. Be your own best friend and enjoy all your travels and work to the most. It’s all a blessing. Not being married at this time may be a blessing also and you just don’t know it. The right person will come when you’re sufficient by yourself. When you’re happy with yourself. When you’re okay on your own.”
Ashraf concluded with a hopeful message, urging her audience to embrace life’s adventures with optimism. “The glass is always half full. Don’t let moments pass. See the world, laugh and explore and you’ll meet someone when the time comes.”
Ashraf also discussed the seriousness of postpartum depression. Responding to a mother who expressed feeling overwhelmed, she wrote, “Postpartum depression is very real. No, you don’t want anyone taking away your baby, you just need the right kind of help and support. I suggest you speak to your gynecologist as soon as possible. Tell your family how you feel and ask them for help and support at this crucial time.”
After the tragic news of Maulana Tariq Jameel’s son passing away in what is being said was suicide, celebrities are urging their followers to recognise the importance of taking care of their mental health. Asim Jameel, the younger son of the Maulana, passed away after shooting himself with a gun at his ancestral home in Tulamba.
Social media was left heart broken after Yousef Jamil confirmed to the press that his brother Asim had passed away from suicide. Now more public figures like Zara Noor Abbas want people to understand that depression should be recognised as an illness.
“For all those who say that depression happens because of deen say duri, please take the example of Maulana Tariq Sahab’s son who was suffering from it even though he had a house full of religious activities and his father being such an honoured religious scholar,” the actress penned.
“Please understand that depression is real like any other illness,” Zara stressed to her followers. “It sucks everything out of you. Please seek help and support for it. My heart goes out to the family of the deceased. May Allah grant him Jannah and peace after all.”
Actress and VJ Anoushay Ashraf slammed the common assumption that depression happens when people are away from God, and spoke about how it should be recognised as a medical issue.
“I hope those celebs who unknowingly but hurt fully speak about how depression is being away from Allah (SWT) realise that it’s very much a medical issue. Many troubles and issues in life can perhaps be because of your disconnect with the higher being, I get your viewpoint but depression is a ‘real’ sickness and disease. It’s not being away from God, it’s being ill. Very ill in such cases.”
Actress and VJ Anoushey Ashraf has shared a list of ten things she wishes all Pakistani women should remember in order to live a more fulfilled and enjoyable life.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote that everyday she remembers to pray and thank God for all the things in her life, good or bad. Ranging from learning to be comfortable in your own skin, to standing for a cause you believe in, here are some valuable tips that Ashraf sent out to her followers.
“We’ve heard this again and again but I can’t emphasize enough on being financially independent. Not only does it give you freedom of movement, it gives you self confidence in a world that isn’t to kind to our gender in general.”
2 Stand up for yourself
“We’ve been sold the whole ‘be patient, let it go’ narrative for way too long but if someone has said or done something to hurt you or your reputation stand up for yourself. You don’t need to take emotional abuse from anyone.”
3 Travel solo (or with friends)
“You do not necessarily need a partner to travel around with. Get your girlfriends and travel to exotic places. Meet new people, have unique experiences and grow. Travel is the best education.”
4 Learn how to drive
“Just a skill I think everyone needs to know. In case of emergency or just not being dependent on someone else driving you around all the time. Driving also gives you a sense of control (in an odd sense) it’s cool.”
5 Confess your love to someone
“So, you have been liking someone but waiting for him to make the first move. Wake up, girl, it’s 2023! You can ask a guy too. And it’s absolutely okay! Good luck.”
6 Indulge in a hobby
“This keeps me creative and motivated. Making time for reading, art, music, puzzles, spending time with my pets or just playing sports are essential to recharge my batteries and keep me sane in an otherwise chaotic life.”
7 Be comfortable in your own skin
“So, what if you’re skinny or thin? What if you (think) you’re short or too tall? Accepting your authentic self is the biggest step towards knowing and honoring yourself.”
8 Be 100% okay with being single.
“Single is no longer a lack of options- but a choice. A choice to refuse to let your life be defined by your relationship status but to live every day Happily and let your Ever After work itself out. And it will. – Mary Hale (said it best).”
9 Give time to a cause you believe in
“Politics? Religion? The environment? Education? Animal rights? Whatever it is that gets you worked up, don’t just sit around and complain. Get involved! Start taking positive, forward-thinking action and see what you can do to help the situation. Raise money, do research, volunteer your time, spread the word – it’ll give you an incredible sense of purpose, and plus, people need your help.”
10. Work out atleast three times a day
“Not only will staying active and adapting your physical activity improve mental and physical health but it will also cut down on your risk of developing life-threatening illnesses or having a fall that results in injury. It’s no secret that our bodies start to decline naturally as we age. That’s life, unfortunately – but it needn’t be a cue to stop moving. Staying active is beneficial to us all, whatever our age!”
Actors Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Ali indulged in a war of words with each other after Adnan expressed his issue with Shehzad Roy’s ‘remixed’ version of the National Anthem.
On Thursday, the renowned musician Shehzad Roy performed a ‘remixed’ version of the National Anthem at the 21st Lux Style Awards.
The anthem, which Roy produced to mark the 75th anniversary of Pakistan’s creation, features the lyrics as the original, but some of the more modern instruments used to create the melody were replaced with traditional ones.
For Siddiqui, the performance was underwhelming to the point that he found the new version disrespectful.
“It (National Anthem) is always played in the original rendition at matches, tournaments, and other state functions. At a famous award show, artists, however, fiddle with the National symbol and possibly get away with it too. Personally, I find ‘remix’ of the Tarana disrespectful.”
Star-actor Sajal Ali disagreed with Adnan’s stance and shared her opinion on Instagram. She said the new version of the National Anthem was healing, and that it ‘reflected the values of our Constitution and remained true to the original anthem’.
“As a Pakistani and an artist, I found the diversity of my country reflected in this rendition of the national anthem beautiful. I found it healing,” Ali said.
The famous VJ and actor, Anoushey Ashraf, agreed with the Gul-e-Rana actor and said, “I absolutely agree with you. Many countries have different renditions of the original anthem as long as it’s done within the frame of decency and acceptability.”
She added, “This is just adding more diversity to it to accommodate everyone, it doesn’t change its essence or the feel. Never will.”
Adnan’s series of posts for Sajal
Earlier today, the Merey Paas Tum Ho actor responded to the criticism and advised Ali to revisit the post as she had missed his point.
Taking to his Instagram, he shared a series of stories stating that he was not ‘throwing shade on the “ethnicity” of the artists involved or on anyone’s patriotism.
In one of the stories, he tagged the actor and reminded her how “there is a protocol to be followed for national symbols, the respect accorded to them much so that the first alphabets of national symbols are written in upper case.”
“What is next because we are creative and should celebrate diversity? Hoist the National Flag upside down and design our own version of the emblem?” He added.
The actors have worked together in a Bollywood movie Mom, alongside late Indian actor Sridevi.
Earlier this year when actor Ayesha Omar shared a horse-riding video from the sets of her film, Rehbra costarring Ahsan Khan, her post received backlash over their supposed explicit pose. The Bulbulay diva later edited the caption to include a note specifically aimed at those who had something unpleasant to say about it.
“P.s. turned off comments! Don’t want negative energy around. We just doing our work baby and laughing through the hard, tough shoot to keep our energy, mood and focus up. It was freezing and raining and we hadn’t slept properly in days because of nonstop shoot. We had 30 minutes to finish the entire sequence. We still put in our best with smiles on our faces. And that’s NOT easy,” she wrote in the caption.
The duo was quick to respond on their personal profiles, with Omar adding in a short note in her original post’s caption. In the note, Omar clarifies the context of the clip, including the cast keeping up morale in the midst of difficult shooting conditions. She wraps up her note by shutting down all unfounded rumors about a romantic relationship between her and Khan.
The Udaari hero also posted an Instagram story to defend the film from the trolls, taking a more humorous approach. He directly addresses the trolls who have torn apart a simple scene from the film.
Now the Fraud star has opened up on the scene in an exclusive interview with anchor Shahzad Iqbal on his show, Jashn-e-Cricket.
Although initially Ahsan couldn’t control his laughter on being teased by Shahzad for the scene, later he revealed that the video was misinterpreted by netizens.
Khan also shared the context of the scene and justified the duo’s positioning on the horse.
VJ and actor Anoushey Abbasi took to her Instagram handle to react to an interview of former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif in which he is opening up about the economical damages that Imran Khan did to the country during his tenure.
The talented actress stated that Imran cannot change the economic crises that were resulted due to PML-N’s shortcomings. She also wants Nawaz to quit politics. Anoushey mentioned that she no more believes in the justice system of Pakistan.
Recently Anoushey shared her stance on the online trolling of Turkish star Esra Bilgic by Pakistani fans over her recent Victoria Secret’s campaign.
The Sehra Mein Safar diva said that men should either unfollow her or focus on other things.
Recently Turkish Actor and Model Esra Bilgic aka Haleema Sultan, who is famous in Pakistan for the drama serial Diriliş: Ertuğrul’s, has been recently featured in Victoria’s Secret’s Turkish promotional campaign. Victoria’s Secret is famous for its lingerie collection.
Esra shared the video on her Instagram account, and Pakistanis had a collective meltdown under her post.
However, this is not the first time Esra has been trolled by Pakistani social media users. In September 2020, after months of being patient and forgiving Pakistani viewers for their comments on her choice of clothes, Esra Bilgiç slammed a troll who asked her not to wear “such dresses”.
Under her Instagram post, a social media user by the name Astounding Ali commented: “Please don’t wear such dresses Halima baji, not good.” In response to his comment, Bilgiç remarked, “Let me give you a little advice: Don’t follow me. Thank you.”
A string of claims began when model Manal Saleem took to her Instagram stories to state that clients should avoid making her shoot with any actress or celebrity due to their “self entitled attitudes.”
While Manal refrained from naming the actress in question who reportedly called her a “dou takkay ki model,” she did state that people guessing who the actress was were not too far from hitting the nail on the head.
The situation unraveled further when make-up artist Omayr Waqar weighed in on the matter as well, stating that “It’s just one person – not all actresses are the same.”
This controversy sparked a debate between the general public, who not only took turns trying to guess the individual being discussed, but also shared how they felt that entitlement and an overtly inflamed sense of pride are traits that are both unnecessary and unbecoming of any person – especially when it is a person in a position of relative power.
Within a span of barely two days, however, accusations grew from being merely speculative in nature, to others within the industry sharing their experiences.
Models Mydah Raza and Mushk Kaleem took to their Instagram stories to discuss how “this actress is notorious for being unpleasant on set,” like an alleged bully, and how the encounter spoke more to the actress’ own insecurities.
Stylist Anila Murtaza shared an Instagram story with a thought bubble with the name ‘Sana’ in it, and makeup artist Ikram Gohar stated that he knew it was none other than Sana Javed being discussed, calling her a “horrible and unprofessional actress.” Make-up artist Rhyan Thomas applauded those speaking up, sharing that he had the worst experience working with the star, stating that “people like them think no end to themselves.”
Shortly after, make-up artist Ikram Gohar went into great detail to further explain his stance, talking about how Sana Javed is “horrible and unprofessional,” and he will never work with her again.
Moreover, Ikram talked about Sana allegedly calling him to a place in DHA for her nikkah makeup trial, during which she mistreated him over an eyeshadow look, and refused to let him use the washroom at the place they were in, urging him to utilize a rest room at a restaurant in front of the space in which the trial was ongoing.
He stressed upon the fact that the industry consists of many names that maintain professional decorum, regardless of their star power.
In addition to this, Rhyan Thomas shared an incident where he was called in by models Sana Javed and Sadaf Kanwal for the PISA awards in Dubai, where Sana allegedly displayed behavior that was both unprofessional and petty.
Given that two models had to be catered to, timings were set accordingly by Rhyan. However, as per Rhyan’s recollection, upon his arrival, Sana claimed to be suffering from a migraine and went to take a hot bath that lasted an hour. After this, she allegedly wanted to have hookah, for which she took Rhyan to the lobby to spend time with other celebrities. This ordeal took another two hours, during which Rhyan claims that he was in touch with Sadaf as well.
Upon heading back to her hotel room, Sana allegedly “threw a fit,” due to her being late for the red carpet. With Sadaf’s calls alerting Rhyan, Sana apparently confiscated Rhyan’s phone, and “put the hotel’s landline on hold” to ensure there was no contact from anyone.
Here, Rhyan states that he was “held hostage,” and Sana reportedly spent the rest of the time demeaning his skills, also placing blame for the process to have taken 8 hours upon the make-up artist. In all of this, Sadaf thought that Rhyan had bailed on her, and did her hair and make-up herself, which the make-up artist claims is what Sana wanted due to “insecurity.”
Durefishan Saleem shared Rhyan Thomas’ post, stating that “harassment is a big NO,” regardless of the gender of the instigator.
With more and more encounters coming forth with regards to this, various figures from the industry are speaking up. Model Fareeha Sheikh recently took to Instagram to compile a post about alleged misbehavior by Sana Javed.
According to Fareeha’s post, the unfortunate incident took place a few months ago at Mian Saad’s studio where multiple shoots can take place. Fareeha arrived first and got her make-up done on the day when Sana Javed had to shoot for a designer at a separate set.
According to Fareeha, Sana arrived three hours late, and upon seeing Fareeha in the room, “stormed out” and “threw a tantrum,” stating that she’s leaving due to another girl being present in the room. Sana reportedly stated that she would not come back till Fareeha was “kicked out,” upon which the designer Sana was shooting with “barged in and started screaming” at Fareeha, leaving her shell-shocked. This prompted the make-up artist and Saad to ask the designer to leave the space.
Fareeha makes it a point to end her account by stating that she hopes “Sana Javed learns that shit comes back to you one way or the other.”
Mahnoor Sheikh also weighed in on this, stating that Sana is “arrogant, disrespectful, [and] rude.” She, too, shared an incident where Sana allegedly did not want to sit in the same make-up room as her and two other models while shooting a TVC.
Prominent female celebrities have shared their stance on the on-going controversy and schooled the Pyaray Afzal diva for her conduct.
Actor and VJ Anoushey Ashraf has responded to the trolling by a certain fandom over her recent statement on Sadqay Tumhare writer, On a digital chat show, she said that she would not do a Khalil Ur Rehman project even if paid 50 lakhs.
Her clip has gone viral on social media from Tabish Hashmi’s show, To Be Honest.
During the interview, the host asked, “If someone offers you 25-30 lac per day for the Khalil ur Rehman drama, then what will you do? In response, the VJ replied, “I am not going to do that. I don’t want to do his projects.”
The Sehra Mein Safar diva took to social media and clear her side of the story. In the comment section she said:
Actor Juvaria Abbasi is well-known for her versatility and has been a part of some blockbuster dramas of recent times like Raqs-e-Bismil. Apart from her work, Juvaria recently celebrated daughter Angela Abbasi’s birthday and penned an emotional note for her daughter.
Actor Humayun Saeed has been roped in to play Dr Hasnat Khan, Princess Diana’s love interest in Season five of the hit Netflix series The Crown.
Journalist Hasan Zaidi confirmed the news last night after speculations had risen that actor Fawad Khan would be seen as Dr Khan in the Netflix drama.
“Was holding back the information until Netflix officially came on the record but, since speculation was rife, it’s only a matter of time”, Zaidi tweeted.
Senior actor and director Sakina Samo took to her twitter handle to condemn the choice of casting by the Netflix makers.
She suggested the name of Humsafar star Fawad Khan in place of Humayun.
On the contrary former host and actor Noor Bukhari disagreed with the Dobara diva. She stated that the Meray Paas Tum Ho star is the best choice for the film.
Now actor Ahmad Ali Butt has shared his opinion on Sakina’s remarks.
Host and actor Anoushey Ashraf also agreed to Ahmad’s point and cheered Humayun for bagging the part.
