Mark Ruffalo apologises for suggesting Israel committed ‘genocide’ in Palestine

American actor Mark Ruffalo, popularly known as The Hulk, has apologised for his statement which suggested that Israel is committing “genocide” in Palestine.

“I have reflected and wanted to apologise for posts during the recent Israel/Hamas fighting that suggested Israel is committing ‘genocide’,” the actor wrote on Twitter. “It’s not accurate, it’s inflammatory, disrespectful and is being used to justify anti-Semitism here and abroad.”

“Now is the time to avoid hyperbole,” added Ruffalo.

The actor’s apology comes following weeks of violence on Palestinians during which Pakistani celebrities, as well as international celebrities, took to social media and came out on roads to condemn Israeli atrocities in Palestine.

However, Mark hasn’t deleted his earlier tweets supporting Palestinians and they are still up on his account.

Earlier in October 2020, Ruffalo had referred to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the division between the two as a “kind of apartheid” while speaking to television host Mehdi Hasan on the self-titled NBC program.

He also accused the Israeli government of carrying out “asymmetrical warfare” against the Palestinian people, and tied in United States’ support for Israel as plainly aiding and abetting the separation and the “violence acted upon them.”

Meanwhile, Usman Mukhtar expressed his shock over Mark’s change in stance, questioning, “What is happening?”

Ushna Shah said: “And then there were none.”

Ahmed Ali Butt also expressed his disappointment, saying: “Mark Ruffalo se Mark Badloo.”

Earlier, American supermodel Gigi Hadid had called out anti-Semitic supporters of Palestine, calling them “hypocrites” for spreading hate towards the Jews.

  • Iffat Omar apologises for jumping queue to get vaccinated

Iffat Omar apologises for jumping queue to get vaccinated

After a barrage of criticism, Iffat Omar has admitted her fault and apologised for jumping queue to get vaccinated.

“I am sorry. I am ashamed. I apologise from the bottom of my heart. I will repent,” wrote the model-turned-actor on Twitter.

Omar had received harsh criticism after pictures and videos of her getting vaccinated for coronavirus went viral on social media with netizens accusing her of jumping the queue to get vaccinated when more deserving citizens still have to wait.

At the time, only those aged 60 and above could avail the free vaccine under the government drive, while those aged 50 could get registered for a shot and there was no commercially available vaccine against the coronavirus in Pakistan.

In the video that was widely circulated on social media, Omar was seen getting vaccinated alongside Federal Minister for Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema and other relatives of his at the minister’s residence.

Cheema had initially denied accusations of jumping queue and claimed that a team from the University of Health Sciences (UHS) had arrived at his residence to administer a ‘booster shot’ of a ‘trial vaccine’.

The minister said the same team had earlier administered the first dose of the trial vaccine to his family at their residence.

Meanwhile, Omar at that time had told people to “take it easy”.

In a now-deleted tweet, the actor had said that she received a booster shot of the Chinese vaccine CanSino.

However, Pakistani Twitterati had called her out on the claim, pointing out that CanSino was a single-dose vaccine and does not require a booster shot.

  • Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid are not married

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid are not married

Sorry guys, but Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have not gotten married in secret as being speculated and reported.

Social media was recently abuzz with news that the former One Direction star and his long-time girlfriend had tied the knot in secret after Zayn’s collaborator Ingrid Michaelson referred to him as a married man during a live session. Soon after fans of the couple started trending the hashtag #ZaynisMarried on social media to express their excitement.

Turns out Michaelson made a blunder because she later issued a clarification, apologising for the accidental blunder.

“So, I should be asleep, but it’s been a crazy hour, hour and a half,” said the 41-year-old Girls Chase Boys performer in her Instagram stories. “On my Patreon live stream, I said that I’m working with Zayn. I mentioned that he was married, and he’s not married. As far as I know, he’s not married. It was a mistake. I’m so sorry, I said I was sorry.”

“I don’t live in this world. So the level of fame, makes me really, truly admire Zayn and anybody with that level of fame. Every little thing you say is just, wow! I’m not built for it,” she continued.

Michaelson further said: “My apologies to Zayn and Gigi, if any of this trickles to you and is annoying. I’m sorry—that’s not my intention.”

“And to his fans, I’m sorry for getting you all riled up, and much love to you all,” she added.

Zayn and Gigi, who welcomed their daughter Khai in September 2020, have been dating on and off over the years. They reportedly met at the 2015 Victoria’s Secret after-party, where Zayn recognised the model “from her picture”. In an interview, Zayn revealed that he asked her to have dinner with him at a New York City restaurant called Gemma.

“She’s a very intelligent woman. She knows how to carry herself. She’s quite classy and that. She’s not, like, arrogant in any way, she’s confident. She carries it well. She’s cool,” Malik had said in the interview.

They confirmed their romance in December 2015, though they have had several breakups along the way. Their most recent split happened in January 2019, and the couple spent nearly a year apart before they reportedly began casually talking again 11 months later. In April, the couple gave fans a surprise when they announced that they were expecting their first child together. After the birth of baby Khai, rumours have often circulated that the two have gotten married. However, there has been no official announcement by the couple.

  • ‘My apologies’: Dale Steyn clarifies stance on IPL controversy

‘My apologies’: Dale Steyn clarifies stance on IPL controversy

Dale Steyn has issued a clarification over his comments on the Indian Premier League (IPL). The South African great, in an interview had said that “cricket kind of gets forgotten” in the money talks in IPL, adding that Lanka Premier League (LPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL) focus more on cricket compared to the IPL.

“I found that playing in those other leagues was slightly more rewarding as a player,” Steyn had said while talking about his IPL experience. “I think when you go to the IPL there are such big squads and so many big names and so much emphasis on the amount of money that the players earn that somewhere along the line the cricket kind of gets forgotten. When you come to the PSL or the LPL, there’s an importance on the cricket.”

Steyn’s comments had stirred up a storm in India with Indians incensed at the fact that he praised the PSL over the IPL.

Following the backlash, the bowler clarified him stance on the matter saying that “IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career”.

Steyn said that he had not intended to degrade, insult or compare any of the cricket leagues.

“Social media and words out of context can often do that. My apologies if this has upset anyone. Much love,” he tweeted.

The South African pacer has had an impressive record as far as the IPL is concerned. The highest auction price for the fast bowler came in consecutive seasons in 2014 and 2015, when Sunrisers Hyderabad snapped him up for INR 9.5 crore (approx. USD 1.3 million today). He has taken 97 IPL wickets at 6.91, making him one of the most economical bowlers of the cricket league.

Meanwhile reaction from most Indian IPL fans on Twitter was quite aggressive, with some hurling personal insults at Steyn.
