Armeena Rana Khan has shut down haters for moral policing her. “I don’t understand why these nationalists, right wingers and religious fanatics lecture me,” wrote Armeena in a tweet.
“For the last time, I do not represent you and my journey is personal. I will do what I need to do for Pak and otherwise,” she added.
In a sperate tweet, sharing screenshots of two different new stories about rape of dead bodies, Armeena wrote: “Your hypocrisy and fake outrage does not bar me when you have instance like this.”
“Ab aap kindly meri jaan chor dein (Kindly leave me alone),” the actor said.
“Those people who need to follow my work will do. You kindly make your way to your tableegh pages,” she added.
“Believe me, my pages are hostile to people like you.”
Armeena Khan on Friday shared a behind-the-scenes video (BTS) from the sets of Mohabbatain Chahatain to highlight mental health issues. Khan’s character in the drama Tara commits suicide in the last episode using a mirror.
“I film an incredibly difficult scene, where my character commits suicide,” said Armeena in the video. “There are several points I wish to make very very quickly.”
“Number one, you are not alone if you are suffering. I don’t want you to suffer, I need you to seek professional help,” says Armeena. “Secondly, women should not pit against each other. You support each other, what’s yours is yours, what’s mine is mine, we should not go after each other’s destinies. We should support each other.”
“Thirdly, suicide is never the answer. I understand we all have demons, but unfortunately my character fails to overcome hers. But this is not the way,” she continued.
Urging those facing issues to seek professional help, Armeena said: “Please stay safe and do not take any of this seriously, because ultimately it is just a TV drama.”
‘Tis the season to make merry and celebrate the end of a terribly challenging year. To commemorate the occasion, several celebrities including Mawra Hocane, Yasir Hussain, Adnan Siddiqui and Bilal Ashraf took to social media to extend warm wishes for Christmas.

Adnan Siddiqui also wished everyone a Merry Christmas, saying: “It’s the season to be jolly and spend time with your loved ones. To all my Christian brothers and sisters may this Christmas bring you to cheer, joy and lot of blessings.”

Just when we breathed a sigh of relief after it emerged that Islamabad Zoo’s lone elephant Kavaan will soon head to Cambodia, where he will retire at an animal sanctuary, videos and pictures of a brown bear in dreadful conditions at the Karachi Zoo have sparked furor and outrage on social media. Celebrities including Ushna Shah, Armeena Khan and Mashal Khan expressed their distress over the condition of the bear and urged authorities to shut down the zoo.
In a message penned in Urdu, Ushna said that zoo culture should be completely eliminated and that citizens should actively campaign for them to be shut down.
“If you like looking at animals, go observe them in their natural habitat. When you come and look at them in zoos, you add to their agony”, said the actor.
“Raise your voice for those who can’t speak,” she added.

Armeena urged her followers to help the brown bear or else he would die.
Here we go again This time it’s Karachi zoo. This poor bear is thirsty, extremely hot and probably very, very hungry. The poor creature will die if something isn’t done for it. Please help #savethebearpic.twitter.com/Zuoy401XiI
Mashal Khan said that she is “sick to my stomach after learning of this poor baby in Karachi zoo, being jailed without food, water, health care”. She asked her followers to raise their voice for the bear and help end her ordeal.

Later, the actor shared that she and her friends are filing a Constitutional Petition in the Sindh High Court to rescue the baby bear and have her transferred to Skardu where she can be reunited with her family.

Meanwhile, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Dr Iftikhar Ali Shallwani slammed the claims and said that the bear is “hale and hearty” at the zoo. Sharing a video of the bear playing in his enclosure as well as a report on its condition, Dr Shallwani said: “The KMC is trying it’s best to give natural habitat to the animals at Karachi Zoo.”
However, reports have suggested that all is not well as the administrator has claimed. According to a senior Sindh Wildlife Department (SWD) official, the bear is not used to living in Karachi’s hot weather conditions, especially during this time of the year when it needs to hibernate in freezing temperature.
Another SWD official said that Karachi Zoo’s management was responsible for the bear’s dreadful condition. He said that the animal does not belong in the zoo and that she needed to be kept in an air-conditioned room, in darkness.
After the pictures of the bear went viral on social media, a picture of a malnourished and underfed lion was also widely circulated with people criticising the Karachi Zoo administration for mistreating animals.

However, it later emerged that the picture of the lion was not from Karachi Zoo.
Sad and Horrific! But it’s not Karachi zoo.Picture was used by @ACFAnimalRescue in a Facebook post,as an example but it’s being spread on social media as KHI even after it was made clear its a downloaded photo. This needs to stop as it will only damage genuine future campaigns https://t.co/8HymX55nao
Late Tuesday night, a video of a man beating and abusing his mother went viral on social media. According to details, the man thrashed his mother for property and cash.
The man’s sister Zobia Meer, who shared a video on social media, revealed all the details of the incident and said that she and her sister reported that violent act to the police but they released their brother an hour later. She added that they are trying to register an FIR but the police is not helping them in this matter.
The video sparked outrage on social media and many journalists, celebrities, social activists and other members of the civil society condemned the incident and demanded justice for Meer and her mother.

Yasir Hussain’s criticism of QMobile appointing Esra Bilgiç as their brand ambassador has left the entertainment industry divided once again. While some actors have seconded Yasir’s opinion, others have said that it’s not a big deal and international artists should be welcome in Pakistan.
Yasir’s comments were met with a barrage of hate and threats from Diriliş: Ertuğrul fans, some of which went out of control. Following the hate and online bullying, several of Yasir’s colleagues including Ayesha Omar, Wajahat Rauf, Armeena Khan and Yashma Gill stepped in to defend the actor and urged people to respect each other’s opinions.
While Ayesha was of the opinion that we should welcome foreign stars into the country, she said that she did not understand why actors have to be bullied for their opinions.
“One can disagree respectfully and have healthy debates and discussions,” said Ayesha.
I would love for foreign stars to be endorsing our brands & vice versa. It’ll benefit the brands also, by making them popular internationally. Waiting to welcome them in our country, like we have been in different parts of the world. Let’s mingle, collaborate and create! ⭐️ ⚡️
And also, I don’t understand why stars, artists and public figures are bullied and hated for having an opinion and holding their own stance. One can disagree respectfully and have healthy debates and discussions. One can educate with compassion. We are all human after all.
Yashma penned a detail note on her thoughts and said that she never found Yasir’s posts to be offensive.
“It‘s completely okay for people to have different opinions,” said Yashma. “I don’t think any actor/influencer tries to impose their opinion on anyone. In fact, what they try to achieve is some logical brainstorming. And try to help the society by challenging some biases, stereotypes and taboos because they truly want to use their platforms for the best reasons possible.”
and it‘s completely okay for people to have different opinions plus I understand that public figures have platforms that are accessible to everyone so all sorts of reactions are expected but there’s always a WAY of directing your message across
And try to help the society by challenging some biases, stereotypes and taboos because they truly want to use their platforms for the best reasons possible.
Armeena Khan has often been in the headlines but it has been a while since we saw her on the screen. Her last drama outing was Daldal, which aired in 2017.
Recently, one of her fans asked her why she hasn’t done any project lately.
In response to that, Khan gave a detailed reply in which explained her reasons.
“This is an interesting question, so I will try to give a detailed answer. People work for two reasons: Because they need financial stability (thankfully, that wasn’t the case for me) or because they have a passion or an incentive.”
She further said that in the past she worked in the industry because she was passionate about the work she did. But now, she has no passion to work because of the scripts coming her way.
“I used to get angry at the kind of projects that were coming my way. Why would you work for something that is killing your passion?”
Khan believes that it’s not the actors’ or audience’s fault. It is the system that has some flaws. However, she plans to come to Pakistan whenever she is offered a decent project.
Meanwhile, Armeena while responding to a follower on Twitter said that she would love to play a “strong, self-determined female character”.
Despite being at the receiving end of heavy trolling, Armeena Khan has rarely lost her cool, which is why it was odd when the actor sent out a series of tweets against Shaniera Akram.
The tweets have since then been deleted and it is unclear what prompted Armeena to send those out. In the tweets, Armeena accused Akram of gaslighting her and shared that she is unfollowing her after the latter did the same.
While Armeena did not say what exactly happened, it is likely that Armeena is referring to a debate that sparked between the twowhen Armeena opened up about her fear of lizards and Shaniera said that they are harmless beings which should be ignored.
At that time when a media outlet reported that Shaniera and Armeena were involved in a public spat, Armeena said that she loves Shaniera and admires her for her efforts.
“I love Shaniera and have admired her for her Karachi beach work,” Armeena had said.
Whatever the case may be, we hope they make up soon.
Yasir Hussain seems to have stirred up quite a storm with his comments on Turkish dramas and Diriliş: Ertuğrul. After Mansha Pasha and Anoushey Ashraf stepped in to defend him, more members of the entertainment industry are sharing their stance on the matter.
Osman Khalid Butt discussed how the drama series can benefit Pakistan
Without taking any names, Osman addressed Yasir’s concerns that foreign content spells death for the local industry.
“Sharing my response to a post that insinuated our jobs are under threat,” wrote Osman. “I don’t recall us actors finding ourselves jobless when Ishq-e-Mamnoon or Mera Sultan were all the rage in Pakistan.”
He further said that the series can help “create more job opportunities for local dubbing/VO artists” in Pakistan.
Osman also suggested that PTV can “use the revenue generated from this series to create our own original content”.
Sharing my response to a post that insinuated our jobs are under threat:
I don’t recall us actors finding ourselves jobless when Ishq-e-Mamnoon or Mera Sultan were all the rage in Pakistan. Nor did Turkish actors ‘infiltrate’ the local industry & replace us. – contd.
Of course, I’d love it if our national television uses the revenue generated from this series to create our own original content – shows that can rival Ertugrul in narrative if not in scale, and showcase our own historical events.
“We need to have more faith in our content, writers and work as an artist,” wrote Maya on Instagram.
Ahmed Ali Butt said that though he respected Yasir’s opinion, he did not agree with it
“One should not be crucified for voicing their concerns,” said Ahmed.
He said that Ertuğrul is a great drama which promotes Islamic values.
Butt also added that he believes that the “Government of Pakistan should grant special budgets to Pakistani production houses with specific guidelines to produce historical dramas with local talent and artists also”.
While Munib Nawaz supported Yasir and called him a true artist, Ali Kazmi said that this should be a wake up call for the industry.
Gohar Rasheed also added his ‘two cents’ on the matter
He said that “if you want job security, take ownership, and create better content. Stop being petty.”
Neelum Munir says “we should look beyond and understand its Islamic content, which has so much wisdom and teaches us the history and the values of Muslims”.

Armeena Khan said that if you want to watch good Pakistani content, watch Hamza Ali Abbasi, Kubra Khan and Sajal Aly’s Alif
Yasir had urged PTV to make a historic drama using artists and technicians who pay taxes to the country.
“Landy k kapray aur Turkey k dramay, dono hee local industry ko tabah kardein gay,” the actor had written.
Following his colleagues remarks, Yasir responded saying: “Yeh humara kaam nahi hai bhai idary ka hai.”
Set in 13th century Anatolia and based on the struggle of Ertuğrul Gazi, father of Osman I – the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, Diriliş: Ertuğrul has been trending in the country ever since its first episode aired on PTV Home. Pakistanis are loving the drama series and it has become a sensation in the country. According to PTV, 133.38 million people have watched the drama series from April 25- May 14. PTV’s YouTube channel has also registered an exponential rise in its viewership with 3.13 million subscribers and episodes trending every day on the social media platform.
In an exclusive interview with The Current, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan revealed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had gifted the drama series to Pakistan as a goodwill gesture.
Following Adnan Malik and Mawra Hocane, Armeena Khan is the latest celeb to open up about her battle with stress, anxiety, low self-esteem and poor mental health.
In an Instagram post, the actor shared that this decade she conquered her eating disorders caused by her stressful media job. She revealed that she lost a lot of weight and ended up weighing 39 kgs only because of which she was “severely malnourished”.
Armeena explained that she was “sharing this story not as a victim but as a victor.”
“I conquered these and so I class them as some of my biggest achievements these last few years. I am happy in my skin now, I meditate and I eat healthy and I have a general feeling of well-being,” she wrote.
Armeena is one of the most vocal actors in the industry. Last year she made headlines after she heavily criticised Priyanka Chopra for her pro-war statements.
The actor has also been part of several successful projects including Bin Roye and Janaan.
