Season 2 of ‘Chupke Chupke’, ‘Ishq Jalebi’ not happening, says writer

Saima Akram Chaudhry, who has penned the wildly successful Chupke Chupke, Ishq Jalebi and Suno Chanda has said that there will be no second or third seasons of these dramas.

“Dear fans, viewers and followers, I know you loved Chupke Chupke, Ishq Jalebi and Suno Chanda. I am grateful to all but it’s not possible for me to take your Instagram calls and talk [to] everyone,” wrote Akram on social media.

“Please accept my apologies and don’t call directly. Trust me it’s too irritating and it is too unethical to call someone at midnight,” she said further.

Chaudhry also said that she cannot help anyone launch their career in the entertainment industry as it’s not her department.

“And channels are not planning for season two or three,” added Chaudhry.

Meanwhile, earlier fans had speculated that a sequel of Chupke Chupke was in the works after Ayeza Khan shared a clip of herself and Osman Khalid Butt dressed up as Meenu and Faazi from the drama.

Furthermore, director Danish Nawaz said that there is a possibility for a sequel if the script and story are good. He said discussions on the topic are ongoing and that he cannot confirm anything as yet.

Fahad Mustafa donates Rs 2 million for Hindu minor suffering from thalassemia

Fahad Mustafa has donated Rs 20 lakh for a Hindu minor boy suffering from thalassemia during a live transmission.

A video recently went viral of a Ramzan live transmission hosted by Waseem Badami and Iqrar-ul-Hasan where JDC Foundation’s Zafar Abbas came along with a Hindu doctor whose minor son was suffering from thalassemia.

During the show, the father told how he has helped everyone and there were times when he treated without taking fees but when he came to know about his son’s deteriorating health, even most of the charitable organizations backed by stating that the charity is for Muslims only.

According to the father, his son has only 15 months left to get proper treatment after that it can get complicated which costs Rs 40 lakh (4 million). He also lamented how there are no basic medical facilities for minorities of Pakistan.

However, during the live show, actor turned producer and now one of the leading game show hosts Fahad Mustafa called and pledged to donate Rs 20 lakh at the very moment.  The Jawaani Phir Nahi Aani actor also requested others to donate for the kid to meet the required amount.

When Iqrar asked about the inspiration behind his decision, the actor said: “I don’t know, I don’t usually feel that way. But when I saw him, I had to call. May Allah give him long life and Allah will definitely give long life to this kid.”

  • ‘Pehli Si Muhabbat’ brilliantly discusses the importance of consent in marriage

‘Pehli Si Muhabbat’ brilliantly discusses the importance of consent in marriage

Pehli Si Muhabbat may not be high on masala and is developing slowly, rather at a snail’s pace, but it certainly comes with a strong message. The latest episode of the drama (Episode 9) sheds light on a topic often overlooked in Pakistani dramas – the importance of a woman’s consent in marriage.

Aslam (Sheheryar Munawar) and Rakshi (Maya Ali) have finally started telling family members about their love for each other and their desire to marry. Aslam has broken off his engagement with Bushra (Hina Afridi) and has let his Mamu know that he cannot marry her. On the other hand, Rakshi’s father Faizullah (Shabbir Jan) has decided to finalise Rakshi’s rishta with his friend’s son. When he tells his wife Nargis (Rabia Butt) of this, the conversation that follows needs to be broadcast everywhere loud and clear.

When Faizullah tells his wife that in their riwaj and culture, girls are not consulted before their own marriage, Nargis says: “Allah nay auraton kay baaray main jo ahkamat diye hain na, unkay baaray main bhi thora sa jaan lo. Waisay tum mard bhi na baray theek ho. Deen bhi sirf mardon ka rakhtay ho. Nikkah say pehlay Allah nay beti ki marzi janana zaruri kiya hai.

In response, Faizullah dismisses Nargis’ comments, saying that she doesn’t know anything.

Allah ki kitaab na humain bhi parhayi jaati hai Faizullah. Bismillah aur Ameen toh humari bhi hoti hai,” adds Nargis before leaving Faizullah to reflect on her words.

In a country where women are often overlooked in the rishta process and told that the elders (read: men) in their family decide their future, such scenes and conversations give the audiences food for thought and can enable the wheels of change. It is also refreshing to watch this on-screen because most dramas paint those women wanting to marry of their choice as besharam (shameless) and wanton with their end also usually terrible.

Kudos to Faiza Iftikhar for these brilliant dialogues and to Anjum Shehzad for wonderfully executing the scene. Butt has been a powerhouse of talent throughout the episode, conversing through her eyes and body language and delivering one blazing scene after another – whether it was her conversation with Faizullah, confrontation with Niggi Apa or the way she handled Rakshi.

Another person who is really standing out in the drama is Munawar. Sheheryar has owned Aslam to the very core and the scene in which he gives Niggi Apa a taste of her own medicine makes you cheer on him.

Now that Aslam and Rakshi’s secret is out in the open, it will interesting to see what happens next. All I hope is that the drama starts moving faster else audiences will lose interest.

  • ‘Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3’ beats ‘Meray Pass Tum Ho’, gets more views

Khuda aur Mohabbat 3 has been creating waves ever since the first look of the drama released. And now the first episode of the serial, which aired on February 12, 2021, has broken all previous records, including those set by Meray Paas Tum Ho (MPTH).

According to details, the first episode of Khuda aur Mohabbat 3 has more views than MPTH on YouTube. While the first episode of Khuda aur Mohabbat 3 has 27 million views, the first episode of MPTH has 26 million. It is also pertinent to add here that MPTH aired more than a year ago. All episodes of the drama are also trending on YouTube Pakistan.

Khuda aur Mohabbat 3, which airs on Geo TV features Iqra Aziz, Feroze Khan, Javed Sheikh, Mirza Zain Baig, Junaid Khan, Asma Abbas, Sunita Marshall, Tooba Siddique, Usman Peerzada, Rubina Ashraf, Hina Khwaja Bayat, and Meherbano in the lead. It has been written by Hashim Nadeem Khan and directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain, who Iqra referred to as the Sanjay Leela Bhansali of Pakistan.

On the other hand, Meray Paas Tum Ho is considered to be the most successful Pakistani drama in recent times. But if Khuda aur Mohabbat 3 continues to win audiences like this, it might just set new records.

  • ‘Nand’ hits 100 episodes

    ‘Nand’ hits 100 episodes

Pakistani dramas are often criticised for unnecessarily dragging the story. Those which usually start off at a good pace eventually get stuck in a rut and lose audiences’ interest. Ongoing drama serial Nand has gone too far in following this trend, crossing 100 episodes.

The drama has taken a complete turn from when it began and we now have new characters and situations driving the plot. The titular character, Gohar aka the Nand, has gotten a face transformation and Faiza Hasan, who initially played the role and was a major attraction, has been replaced by Javeria Saud. The Nand is not the only one who has undergone a change but another female protagonist Rabi (played by Minal Khan) died in Episode 95 that aired on January 13. Rabi and her daughter Dua died in a car accident in Germany, where they had gone to visit Rabi’s sister-in-law.

While most viewers thought that when Gohar lost her mind after she was exposed for ruining her brothers’ marriage and creating a ruckus in the family, the drama would end, they were in for a surprise when it continued with multiple twists and turns before returning to square one. After Gohar was admitted to a hospital and treated for her mental condition, she regained her memory and got a brand new face. She returned to a completely different household and began to create havoc again.

On the other hand, Gohar’s brother Saqib[Shahroz Sabzwari] and Hassan[Ayaz Samoo] remarried after getting divorced from their first wives. While Saqib’s wife is a mild-natured girl, Hassan’s new wife, Gul Rukh[Amna Malick] is evil and greedy. She even killed her mother-in-law with her mother Naeema’s help.

Meanwhile, another mother-daughter duo – Sundus and Amna – have entered the storyline. The two have come to Pakistan from Germany with Rabi’s things to give to Jahangir [Aijaz Aslam].

With multiple new faces taking the story forward, Gohar is now plotting to get rid of Gul Rukh and Naeema.

Produced by Fahad Mustafa’s Big Bang Entertainment, Nand is written by Sameena Aijaz and directed by Zeeshan Ali Zaidi.

As absurd as the drama is, Nand has proven to be a commercial success, trending on television as well as on YouTube. According to some estimates, it was also one of the top TV plays with the highest ratings in November 2020.
