“Decisions regarding exams are final,” said Mahmood. “Students should start preparing and working hard.”

Meanwhile, A-level exams are scheduled at the end of April, while the O-level exams are slated to begin on May 10.

Asim Azhar reportedly dropped from music show for being too young

Asim Azhar was reportedly dropped from the country’s latest pop music platform because he was “too young”.

According to reports doing the rounds on social media, Asim, who was initially going to be a part of the platform, was eliminated from VELO Sound Station because he was too young to endorse nicotine. The singer is 24 years old.

“Azhar recorded two songs for the outlet but the company decided not to release his tracks, excluding him because of his age,” stated the report. “Apparently you have to be 25 or above to promote nicotine as per their internal legal requirement, [even though] the government allows 18 and above.”

Azhar and the show’s Executive Producer Bilal Maqsood have refused to comment on the matter as for now.

VELO Sound Station has been making waves on social media for its quirky renditions of classic pop songs.

Meanwhile, Azhar recently released the official PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBGM) anthem Khelta Ja. The video has collected over three million views on YouTube, marking another milestone in the singer’s career.

Meanwhile, the Oscar winner director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy said that no one should be endorsing nicotine products at any age.

Humayun Saeed, Fahad Mustafa, Asim Azhar celebrate Karachi Kings’ first PSL win

Karachi Kings’ on Tuesday night were crowned the winners of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) after beating Lahore Qalandars by five wickets. Babar Azam knocked a commanding half-century to help his side win their first championship in five years at Karachi National Stadium.

Though Azam smashed seven boundaries in his 49-ball 63, it was skipper and KK captain Imad Wasim who hit the winning boundary to help the Kings overhaul a modest 135-run target in 18.4 overs.

The final — one of the most anticipated in PSL’s history, given the rivalry between the country’s two biggest cities — was played after a gap of nearly eight months after the PSL’s fifth edition came to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Kings will take home a glittering trophy plus a half a million dollars while Lahore will receive $200,000.

Following the win, celebrities including Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Asim Azhar and Mehwish Hayat celebrated Kings’ win and expressed their excitement on social media. Many also remembered the franchise’s head coach Dean Jones, who passed away in September in India.

“Mubarak ho Karachi walo!,” said Humayun Saeed. “It has indeed been a long wait but totally worth it. Wish Jones was also with us tonight.”

Mehwish Hayat said that the win was a “fitting tribute to their late coach, Dean Jones. He would really have been proud today.”

Asim Azhar celebrated by singing the Kings’ anthem ‘Ye Hai Karachi‘ and jumping in joy.

Maza aagaya,” exclaimed Faysal Quraishi and Fahad Mustafa.

Adnan Siddiqui and Fahad were all praises for the Man of the Match Babar Azam, lavishing praises on him.

Shaniera Akram, whose husband Wasim Akram also coached the team, expressed that she felt “bittersweet,” adding that this win was for Jones.

Vasay Chaudhry couldn’t help but crack a joke over how Karachi needed a “Lahoria to get them through”.

Maya Ali said that the match was a “thriller”.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, who captained Karachi Kings in 2017, also congratulated the team for “a wonderful win”.

Motorway rape: Mehwish, Mahira demand change in mindset instead of public hangings

Mehwish Hayat, in a tweet said: “Scream all you want about ‘Public Hanging of Rapists’ – nothing will happen till the mindset changes.”

Similarly, sharing a quote by Manto, Mahira said: “Hang them! Kill them! Publicly shame them! – It won’t change a thing. The problem is so deeply ingrained within our society, so deep-rooted, that even the officer said: ‘She shouldn’t have left at that time. This is the way our society is’.”

“Why should we accept this mindset? Why should we question the victim yet again and not the those who commit the crime?” she questioned.

On Tuesday night, two robbers reportedly gang-raped a mother of two on the Motorway within Gujjarpura police’s jurisdiction. The woman, along with her two children, was driving to Gujranwala in her car when she was forced to stop at the Gujjarpura section of the Motorway after running out of fuel at around 1:30 am. She immediately called a relative and sent him her location. He asked her to also dial the Motorway Police helpline 130 but she was reportedly refused help.

In the meantime, two robbers approached the car, broke the window and took the woman and her children to nearby bushes where they raped her repeatedly in front of the children. They also snatched her purse that had cash around Rs100,000, one bracelet, car registration and three ATM cards.

The Gujjarpura police have registered a case, while the motorway police spokesperson said they had not been able to take action as the incident did not occur in the limits of Motorway Police.

The incident, followed by Lahore’s new Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh’s comments have sparked outrage nationwide. According to details, the CCPO said: “I am shocked… you are a mother of three and the only driver late at night… [she] should have taken the GT [Grand Trunk] Road instead, which is densely populated.”

Sheikh went on to say that the woman should “at least have checked her fuel before taking the motorway”.

Humayun Saeed said that he was “shocked beyond belief and extremely distressed to learn about this incident.”

Ayesha Omar talked about how she didn’t even feel safe in her own country.

Mansha Pasha and Hareem Farooq said that the victim is not to be blamed.
