Asim Azhar has become the youngest and the fourth Pakistani artist after Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam and Momina Mustehsan to enter the ‘100 million club’ after his single Jo Tu Na Mila crossed more than 100 million views on YouTube. His other song which achieved this milestone was his duet with Momina Mustehsan for Coke Studio 9: Tera Woh Pyaar.
The singer shared the news in a social media update and thanked his fans for their support.
100 MILLION VIEWS. ♥️ #jotunamilaAnd it gives me immense honour to become the youngest & only the 4th Pakistani artist (after Rahat Fateh Ali Khan sb, Atif Aslam & Momina Mustehsan) to have 2 or more songs in the 100 million club. thank you. I love you guys. pic.twitter.com/T8donMa54H
In another update, the singer remarked that it was impossible for him to put his feelings into words.
Jo Tu Na Mila is a love ballad which talks about unrequited love. The song, which features Iqra Aziz, has been composed and sung by Asim while the lyrics have been penned by Kunaal Vermaa.
Back when it was released, the song was even loved by none other than Bollywood bigwig Karan Johar.
Hania Aamir and Asim Azhar are taking the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches very seriously. Asim, who is supporting Karachi Kings this year, teased Hania last night after the Peshawar Zalmi lost the match (PZ). Hania is the official celebrity ambassador of PZ.
Okay jokes aside, even tho my love for the city (karachi) I was born in is evident. I genuinely pray all the teams do exceptionally well for all their fans because what a turn out all these cities of Pakistan are giving us! And a special dua for Lahore. PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!
Following the opening ceremony of the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Pakistanis found a new person to hate on: Ahmed Godil. The Karachi-based VJ opened the opening ceremony of the PSL 5 and drew irk and widespread criticism from audiences for his performance on stage.
The backlash and trolling became so unbearable that the next morning, Godil made several TV appearances in which he appealed to the audiences to spare him, explaining that he wasn’t even the host of the show – Fakhre Alam was. He also requested the audience to leave his mother and sisters out of this.
In his latest post, Godil has announced that he is no longer part of the PSL or PCB. In a five-minute video, the host explained that PCB let him go following the trolling and his appearances on multiple media channels.
Godil also expressed his frustration with the PCB for their mismanagement and not supporting him amidst the trolling. He said that he gave the organisation his everything and in return, they fired him.
“I was just about to get in the car and leave for the stadium around 12 pm when I received a call from the PSL management to inform me that my services are no longer needed,” said a visibly emotional Godil in the video, adding that all he did was try to save the opening ceremony from failing without a script in hand or any preparation.
Earlier, while speaking a private news channel, Godil had remarked that the opening ceremony of PSL 2020 was a “very poorly managed show”.
“I was told to come to the stage for the pre-show as they [organisers] said the audience was bored since 4:30 pm,” he said, iterating that he was not the host of the event.
When Shoaib Akhtar, who was also on the show, commented that he didn’t understand the opening ceremony, Godil responded, “It was a very, very poorly managed show.”
Meanwhile, social media began to speculate that Godil was reportedly sacked for revealing that PCB has strictly banned Ali Zafar’s songs from being played in the stadium. Godil responded to the rumours.

With Pakistan Super League right around the corner, fans are waiting with bated breaths for the fifth edition to start. What’s even more special about this season is the fact that all matches will be played in Pakistan.
The team behind the league kick-started this season by releasing the PSL anthem. The song Tayyar Hain featured veterans Arif Lohar, Ali Azmat and Haroon along with Azhar. However, the song failed to impress the audiences who took to social media to voice their criticism.
In a note posted to Twitter, Asim talked about the PSL anthem, the sentiments attached to it and apologised to those who didn’t like it. He also requested people not to resort to personal attacks. However, Azhar added that the memes were great and he enjoyed those.
Tayyar Hain has been composed by Xulfi, while Kamal Khan of Laal Kabootar fame has directed the music video which also features star cricketers including Babar Azam, Hasan Ali, Rumman Raees, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shan Masood.
According to the press release, “A total of 22 instruments have been used in creating Tayyar Hain, including indigenous instruments such as tumba, chimta, rubab and harmonium“.
Asim Azhar has many fans in Pakistan as well as in other countries. Recently, the singer responded generously to one of his fans on Twitter.

Hollywood walay tu apny fans ko apni chezin gift kr dyte hain. Can I get this before 2019 ends? #asimswag.” She tagged Asim and also used the hashtag #asimswag
After her tweet, Asim replied that he has a few green jackets but he is ready to give away the one she likes. Asim tweeted: “I have a few green jackets. Which one do you like?? Send a picture & your address to asimazharofficial@gmail.com – we’ll try and make it happen before 2019 ends.”
