Atiqa Odho HAS played mother in drama serials before

The drama ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’ has become a sensation, captivating audiences and sparking conversations across the entertainment world. Every artist, whether involved in the show or not, seems to have something to say about this massive hit.

Renowned actress Atiqa Odho recently stirred up intrigue when she revealed that she was offered a role in ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.’

In a recent interview, the show’s director, Badar Mehmood, shared that he initially offered Atiqa the role of Fahad Mustafa’s mother. The host noted that this was news to them, and Atiqa elaborated, saying, “I felt the character would be better portrayed by someone of that age bracket, suggesting that Bushra Ansari was a perfect fit.”

“I didn’t feel it was a role that suited me,” she explained.

Interestingly, Atiqa has previously portrayed the mothers of actors like Danish Taimoor and Tipu Sharif in Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi (2022) and Affan Waheed in Pardes (2021). So why the hesitation this time? Atiqa hinted that playing the mother of characters like Mustafa, Emmad Irfani, and Maya Khan might make her seem much older than she’d prefer.

This has raised questions among fans: does Atiqa view herself as a “young mother” onscreen? While she might be comfortable in roles alongside younger actors, she may be less so in roles where her on-screen age would seem more advanced, as in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.

There’s no doubt that Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is the biggest hit of the season. Atiqa’s decision to pass on the role – and her reflections on it – leave audiences wondering if there’s a touch of regret at missing the chance to be part of this blockbuster series.

Viewers have nothing but praise for Bushra Ansari, whose performance as Shagufta has been widely acclaimed.

Odho’s recent focus has been her drama critique show Kya Drama Hai where she provides balanced reviews on trending dramas.
Atiqa has starred in many a hit serials including Sitara Aur Mehrunissa, Dasht, Nijaat, Dao, Humsafar and Dhoka.

Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum is written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Badar Mehmood.

The drama airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:00 PM on ARY Digital.
Earlier, renowned actress Atiqa Odho is all praise for veteran colleague Saba Hamid portrayal of the lead role in ‘Noor Jahan’.

After episodes 20 and 21 aired this past weekend, Odho took to Instagram to highlight Hamid’s brilliance, calling it an “acting masterclass” for aspiring actors, noting how Saba’s controlled, silent expressions were truly captivating.

“I’m so inspired watching my friend Saba Hamid in #NoorJahan. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime role, and what she has done with it is amazing. She mesmerizes with just her expressions! Well done!”

She also encouraged new actors to view Saba’s performance as a valuable lesson in acting.

Atiqa concluded with, “So proud of you, Saba.”

Many of her Instagram followers agreed, praising Saba’s performance as well.

‘Noor Jahan’ features a strong cast, including Kubra Khan, Ali Rehman Khan, and Noor Hassan. Directed by Musaddiq Malek and written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah.
Atiqa Odho also praised Mustafa, saying that he “fit the role perfectly in the play.”

She said, “In ‘Kabhi Mein, Kabhi Tum,’ Fahad Mustafa is shown as a game-loving boy, and he has maintained his fitness accordingly.”

Veteran actress Atiqa Odho has shared why she declined the role of Shagufta in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum.

During her show Kya Drama Hai Odho shared that her decision was based on age suitability and scheduling issues.

Although she appreciates her work with director Badar Mehmood, Odho felt that this role wasn’t quite right for her.

Badar Mehmood also weighed in on the situation, stating that he had initially reached out to Odho with that role in mind.
Badar Mehmood said, “I will tell you something, I did call Atiqa for Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum to play Mustafa’s mother, but she was extremely busy and occupied.”

Atiqa elaborated, “There’s an age difference as well, I think Bushra Ansari is a little older, so the role suits her better.”

The renowned singer had been battling cancer and was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata in November 2023.

He was part of the Rampur-Sahaswan musical tradition and was the great-grandson of its founder, Inayat Hussain Khan.

He was honored with the Padma Shri in 2006 and the Padma Bhushan in 2022 for his contributions to the field of Art.

After his demise, social media was filled with heart felt messages by his fans.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) and said, “Pained by the demise of Ustad Rashid Khan Ji, a legendary figure in the world of Indian classical music.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted on X that, “A hugely respected vocalist with unparalleled genius in creating music, he made us proud by settling here and making Bengal his home.”

  • ‘Jahil’: Celebrities, activists slam Senator Afnan Ullah Khan for horrifying remarks about Mahira Khan, Anwar Maqsood

Yesterday, a clip from a session named An Evening With Mahira Khan went viral on social media, featuring Anwar Maqsood. The renowned writer made a disparaging comment about two female Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) leaders, Maryam Aurangzeb and Maryam Nawaz.

In the clip, Khan was seen asking about two women who are fighting and shouting with each other, to which Maqsood responded that these women are Maryam Nawaz and Maryam Aurangzeb,

“I am restricted from talking about politics, I can’t say anything about anyone. Hopefully the situation will get better soon. What you said about poisoning, abusing each other so I gave an example, it is also happening in real life. Also both are actors, not character actors.”

This comment was rightfully criticized because of how it chose to directly target the female politicians through the same misogynist stereotypes Khan was condemning in her session. Twitter users also slammed Khan for her selective morality, urging the actor to reflect on the feminist morals she is presenting because repeatedly calling out misogynist slurs used to put down women, but in the same breath applauding this way of publicly targeting female politicians and humiliating them? Baffling.

    https://twitter.com/Bubbleskhanum/status/1637942268773519367?s=20

“I don’t expect anything good from him, because he is a man, but it’s so baffling to see Mahira Khan applauding over this incitement of misogyny and sexism, she literally made a brand by capitalizing over feminism, but is not consious about how harmful this is for Pakistani women,” one user wrote.

This is the proper manner of responding to an opinion you disagree with, by pointing out mistakes and urging the other person to reflect and correct themselves. Because after all, celebrities have a public platform through which they can influence other people to follow their actions.

What is the most vile, awful way to counteract? By using abelist, abusive language and making personal remarks like the way Senator Afnan Ullah Khan did on Twitter

“Mahira Khan has mental health problems and Anwar Maqsood has become a drunkard at this stage of life. Both of them are shameless characters and the public should condemn them for it. There are books written about Mahira Khan’s character, and she is known for even flattering Indian actors for the sake of money and Anwar Maqsood is filled with hatred at this point of his life,” wrote the PML-N senator on Twitter.

To condemn a misogynist remark is the right of any politician, but to go even lower and make personal, completely distorted and abusive comments about someone is completely not acceptable.

Targetting Khan and Maqsood with such awful comments from the politician whose party is currently ruling the country proves how deep misogyny runs in this country. Celebrities like Atiqa Odho and Farhan Saeed openly condemned these comments for showcasing Dr Ullah Khan’s misogynist state of mind.

Farhan Saeed retweeted this comment and condemned the way free speech in Pakistan has been suppressed

“This is the mentality that doesn’t let #Pakistan grow , this is what they do when someone just gives an opinion or has a political preference . They get personal so people stop giving their opinion . Senator ? Zuban jahilon wali,” he wrote.

Odho shared a picture of both Khan and Maqsood on her Instagram account and in the caption she condemned the PML-N politician for using such foul language against two “hard working and committed people.”

She wrote: “#AnwerMaqsood a living legend and mentor and #MahiraKhan our beloved star. Both shine where ever they go and leave others way behind. Shameful when anyone dares to say anything against such hard working and committed people as these are national treasurers. PMLN should expel the senator who behaved so poorly from their party at once to teach him a lesson and show their sincerity towards our iconic soft image ambassadors. Such acts must not go unnoticed as these are not political people and as citizens have a right to an opinion within a true democracy. Hope action is taken and a public apology is given by #PMLN !”

Actor and writer Mira Sethi tweeted that these remarks are ‘utterly shameful’.

Actor Iffat Omar, who is critical of Imran Khan, also condemned the tweet and tagged Maryam Nawaz, urging her to take action against the senator.

The twitter account of Aurat March called out the Senate of Pakistan to teach their politicians to refrain from using such abusive, sexist language against their critics, especially when it is a woman involved.

‘Survived emotional and physical abuse’: Atiqa Odho makes revelations, advices women

Aqtia Odho has spoken about toxic marriages and abusive relationships post the horrific murder of Sara Inam by her husband Shahnawaz Amir.

Odho again wrote about her own bad relationship on her Instagram account and told other women to get out of them.

“I write this in the hope that it may help someone reading it realise that your life is in your own hands. Having survived both physical and emotional abuse as a young woman, I feel it is my duty to help others get out of toxic relationships. Abuse of any kind is unacceptable regardless of who it’s coming from. Walk away and never look back.”

“If you allow anyone to mistreat you they will form a habit to do so and it only gets worse with time. The abuser gets addicted to such behaviour and never stops. Your life, your self worth and your dignity are precious so take control of them and be strong. Many will tell you things that weaken your own resolve but never listen to them.”

“Only listen to your gut and mind, not even your heart for it falters a lot. Trust me when I say this, you can do much much better so do not compromise and put your life at risk for anyone. Get out while you still can.” she concluded.

Earlier this year, Odho opened up about her personal and professional struggles in an interview. The Humsafar diva shared her experience of being raised in a broken family and later having difficulty in finding the right spouse.

Atiqa while opening up about her early career struggles said, “I started my career as a stylist, so I worked mostly behind the scenes at first doing makeovers for actors. I studied for it in the UK.”

“When I’d go to ad shoots to prepare models behind the scenes, I would get a lot of offers with people asking me if I would like to be in front of the camera. So, after a while, I thought, “Why not?” I always loved film, fashion and the arts, so I made the decision to take the plunge,” added Atiqa while talking her career as a stylist.

“By that time, I already had two children and I was going through a divorce, so I needed the money as well. People often hide the difficult parts of their life behind a facade, but I very openly talk about them. Styling wasn’t getting me the money I needed to raise two children, so I started going in front of the camera. The first ad I did was for a tea company. That’s where Anwar sahab spotted me and offered me Sitara Aur Mehrunnisa.”

“To the young women, according to my experience, so many people have told that such and such thing cannot be done. You hear such things a lot when you’re a young woman. Always follow your instinct, because your instinct will always make the right choice. That’s what I always did,” Atiqa said while giving the advice to the young women of the entertainment industry.

The Pyar Ke Sadqay star elaborated further, “I made decisions that were okay at the time but didn’t work out in the long run. I was married at a very young age out of choice. I came from a broken home. An upper class, elite, but broken home, and I was always very starved for a father figure. I understood this later on.”

“I married young and had children young, I went to school after kids. I did a lot of catching up in my life. I realised that I did all of these things because of childhood trauma or emotional needs, I understood it, so I needed to fix it. You can fix anything at any time. This timeframe is your own construct. No one is putting a timeline on your life.

On the work front, Atiqa is basking in the glory of her blockbuster drama Kesi Teri Khudgarzi, co-starring Dur e Fishan Saleem and Danish Taimoor.

‘Harassment, bad and immature behaviour ‘: Atiqa Odho schools Marriyum Aurangzeb’s trollers

Actor and politician Atiqa Odho took to her Instagram handle to school the people involved in trolling of PML-N’s Marriyum Aurangzeb.

The senior politician, who is currently in London was verbally harassed by several PTI supporters at a coffee shop and on the road. The supporters shouted at Aurangzeb. The crowd also included women who used abusive language.

The Pyar Ke Sadqay star wrote, “You may not agree with someone’s piolitics but harrassment of this nature is unacceptable as this is not the way to solve national issues.”

She added, “You achieve nothing with bad and immature behaviour. Don’t get carried away by emotion and lack of proof or correct information. Get your facts right, have evidence for them and then follow the law always. Otherwise you are playing with Pakistan’s future.”

Last year Atiqa schooled Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on not wearing a mask.

“Madam, put your mask on please,” wrote the veteran actor on Twitter alongside a maskless picture of Dr Awan.

“I’m amazed to see how even government officials are not wearing masks during events and press conferences,” lamented Odha, adding: “How do they expect people to follow COVID SOPs.”

“Lead by example folks or then deal with the growing crisis,” said the actor further.
