    Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s convoy attacked in DI Khan

    Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s convoy came under attack in Dera Ismail Khan on Sunday.

    The politician’s convoy was fired from multiple directions at the Yarik Interchange, the party’s spokesperson, Mufti Abrar, told Geo News on Sunday, adding that the attack took place while the vehicles were passing through the DI Khan area.

    He also confirmed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman is safe.

    Fazlur Rehman’s brother, however, denied the attack on the party chief, claiming that Maulana was at home when the incident happened.

    “Maulana’s car stopped for refueling near the Yarik interchange [when the incident happened],” he added.

    Maulana has expressed concerns many times about security issues in the DI Khan area. He also said on December 5 that “There is no police in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and Lakki Marwat. Can the polls be staged in this situation of unrest?”

    Earlier this week, Fazl had warned that his party will hold Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja responsible if party workers came under attack during electioneering.

    Al Jazeera journalist Wael Dahdouh is currently in critical condition after being targeted by Israel in a reported targeted attack while he was covering news near Haifa school in Khan Younis.

    Another journalist was also reportedly severely injured in the attack. On October 25, Wael Aldahdouh, one of the most prolific journalists in Gaza, buried his wife, son, daughter, and grandson, who had been killed in an Israeli air raid that hit the house they were sheltering in.

    Two policemen martyred in suspected militants attack on oil company in Dera Ismail Khan

    Suspected militants on Tuesday attacked an oil and gas company in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), resulting in two police officials being martyred and three getting injured.

    The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) confirmed that the terrorist attack occurred in Drazanda tehsil of DI Khan.

    The injured police officials and the bodies were shifted to hospitals, said the DSP. He also confirmed that one of the injured policemen is in a critical condition.

    The DSP stated that police officials were deployed for security of the oil company, adding that the search for terrorists is underway.

    Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack, stating that strict action is required to wipe out terrorists from Pakistan.

    This was the fifth attack on DI Khan in the last few days.

    Earlier, on Monday, militants attacked the Gul Imam police station in Tank Area, DI Khan.

    The Greek Orthodox Saint Porphyrius Church, a shelter for several Palestinian families in Gaza, was struck by Israeli bombing on Thursday night.

    Muslims and Christians, together, were seeking refuge under its roof however, Israel military targeted the Church killing and injuring dozens.

    According to Gaza’s Hamas-run government media office, 18 Christian Palestinians were among the killed.

    The Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem has conveyed its “strongest condemnation” of the attack, saying that “targeting churches and their institutions, along with the shelters they provide to protect innocent citizens, especially children and women who have lost their homes due to Israeli air strikes on residential areas over the past 13 days, constitutes a war crime”.

    At the site of Greek Orthodox Saint Porphyrius Church, a church was built back in 425 AD but in 1150s or 1160s, the Crusaders named it Saint Porphyrius Church after a bishop renowned for introducing Christianity to Gaza in 395 to 420 AD.

  • Attack on police station in Quetta leaves one police officer injured

    A police officer was wounded on Saturday when an unidentified assailant hurled a hand grenade at the Smart Police Station, Civil Lines, in Quetta.

    The injured officer has been identified as Abdul Saboor.

    According to the police, an unidentified motorcyclist carrying a hand grenade attacked the police station located in the White Road area of Quetta.

    The hand grenade resulted in a powerful explosion. As per local authorities the attacker managed to flee the scene.

    On Thursday night, unidentified persons attacked the residence of former Governor of Punjab, Latif Khosa, in the Defense area of Lahore.

    According to sources of Dunya news, Latif Khosa is safe while his driver got injured.

    The attacker managed to run away from the spot after firing but police have said that attackers will be in the custody of police very soon.

    Police further added that attackers can be identified through CCTV footage.

    Latif Khosa told the media that the attack on his residence was very intense, adding that the bullets pierced the main gate and hit the cars parked inside the house.
    On the other hand, Owais Shafique, SP Cantt reached the residence of the former Governor with the police.

  • Another police operation planned at Zaman Park on Eid, claims Khan

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday that he fears the government may launch another “operation” during Eid ul Fitr holidays at his Zaman Park residence in a bid to arrest him.

    “There is risk of bloodshed,” he claimed.

    A two-member bench of the high court recommended that Imran Khan’s petition be placed before a larger bench against the registration of similar cases and disciplinary proceedings against him.

    The bench, comprising of Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Farooq Haider, sent the file to the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court.

    Khan testified in court that despite court orders, the police had previously damaged his home during the Zaman Park operation, adding that the court had ordered the police not to launch an operation in Zaman Park, yet it had happened.

    “Now during the holidays, they will launch an operation. I have credible reports that they will launch an operation. The court must stop them,” Khan urged, adding that the “law of the jungle” prevails where people are first arrested and then they are informed about the accusations.

    “I am just informing you about the threats beforehand,” Khan said and returned to his seat.

    In an unfortunate incident, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Atif Munsif Khan, hailing from Basti Sher Khan, lost his life when a rival group opened fire on his vehicle near Havelian’s Langra village which caused the car’s fuel tank to explode.

    Atif was the son of former provincial minister Munsif Khan Jadoon.

    He was elected the Havelian tehsil nazim as an independent candidate in the 2022 municipal elections. After winning the election, he joined the Imran Khan-led PTI.

    Nine others also died in the attack.

    According to Dawn, the District Police Officer (DPO) refuted media reports claiming that the car had been targeted by a “rocket attack”.

    Surprisingly, the DPO said that a first information report (FIR) has not yet been registered.

    After the news, the PTI leaders extended condolences and demand an immediate inquiry into the matter.

    A bombing has left at least nine personnel of the Balochistan Constabulary (BC) martyred and 13 people wounded in Bolan, Balochistan on Monday morning.

    According to media reports, preliminary evidence suggests that the blast was a suicide attack. However, the exact nature will be disclosed after a thorough investigation.

    So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

    BC is a department of the provincial police force that provides security at important events and in sensitive areas, including jails.

    Pakistan is dealing with a rapid rise in terror attacks since talks with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) broke down in November last year.

    Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has condemned the attack on Balochistan Constabulary and expressed grief.

    Senior anchor Kamran Shahid has claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan was not shot four times on November 3, 2022, at Wazirabad.

    Reading out the Punjab Forensic Report about the firing incident in which the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief was shot at, Kamran Shahid said that a “few” fragments of bullets hit him.

    “Few fragments of a bullet and a metallic particle hit Imran Khan,” said Shahid.

    Taking about the shooters and bullets, Shahid said that the report states that the accused Naveed shot 12 bullets from his 30 bore pistol and two bullets were shot on the container from SMG riffle.

    Imran Khan was attacked by a gunman as his long march passed through Wazirabad, resulting in four shots in the leg. The PTI and the chairman himself have said that Khan was shot three times.
