    Toyota Yaris prices reduced by up to Rs133,000

    Indus Motor Company, the manufacturer of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan, has announced a significant price adjustment for its Yaris sedan range.

    This adjustment, effective from Thursday, reflects a reduction in prices ranging from Rs73,000 to Rs133,000.

    The revised pricing structure for the Yaris lineup is as follows: the 1.3 MT LO, 1.3 CVT LO, and 1.3 MT Hi variants will now be priced at Rs4.326 million, Rs4.616 million, and Rs4.586 million, respectively, representing a reduction of Rs73,000 for each model.

    Additionally, the price of the Yaris CVT Hi has been lowered by Rs133,000 and is now priced at Rs4.766 million.

    According to Business Recorder, this decision comes in response to the recent imposition of a 25 per cent sales tax on vehicles priced above Rs4 million.

    By implementing these price cuts, Indus Motor Company aims to ensure that the Yaris remains within the 18 per cent sales tax bracket.

    Initially, the government’s decision to raise the sales tax was targeted at vehicles with engine sizes of 1,400 cc and above, as well as those priced above Rs4 million.

    However, it later extended to include SUVs below the 1,400cc threshold, prompting manufacturers to advocate for a Rs4 million price cap.

    As a consequence of this tax adjustment, certain models from Toyota, Honda, and Suzuki are now subject to the increased sales tax regime.

    Owning a Bugatti supercar is unquestionably one of the most expensive pleasures a person can enjoy. An oil change, for example, costs more than Rs5.09 million ($25,000). To look at it another way, just the oil change is more expensive than a new Toyota Corolla Altis Grande in Pakistan.

    An oil change is a ‘small’ fraction of the money you have to spend every 12 months to keep the French beauty in great shape. If you break the exterior, things get even worse.

    We’re well aware of the exorbitant price of maintaining a Bugatti, yet the internet continues to surprise us with independent postings of OEM Chiron parts.

    The most outrageous example seen so far is the front-end component from a Chiron Super Sport 300+ shared by CarScoops, which is priced at Rs81.5 million ($399,999). In Pakistan, you can buy a nice house in Defence Housing Authority, Lahore, and even save some money with this sum.

    It’s important to note that we’re still discussing an OEM part component here.

    Consider the following scenario: you’ve scraped the roof of your gleaming Bugatti Chiron, but you don’t want to go to the brand’s official shop to save some money. Repainting the panel is one option, but if the damage is too extensive, it must be replaced. Finally, if you opt to handle the repair yourself, there are roof components available on the internet to ‘assist’ you.

    SGR Automotive recently posted an ad on Instagram for a Bugatti Chiron roof assembly. It is still unclear where this component originates from, but the seller claims it’s an OEM part in excellent shape. The available photographs show a spotless blue roof assembly with no blemishes on the paint or carbon fiber structure.

    It’s worth noting that the roof component of the Chiron is considerably more than a mere panel covering the passenger compartment. It is a structural element of the Chiron’s chassis and plays an important function in the supercar’s monocoque. Needless to say, even minor flaws in the Chiron’s carbon-fiber structure might significantly impact its cornering performance.

    A roof assembly is priced at Rs11.20 million ($55,000) by SGR Automotive. Well, that’s enough to get you a nice new Toyota Fortuner 2022 in Pakistan, but in the Bugatti world, 55 grand is practically nothing. If this roof piece is an OEM part, it’s definitely well worth the money, since a new fuel tank costs Rs8.96 million ($44,000)  to replace.

    The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has raised the sales tax rate on compressed natural gas (CNG) supplies to customers.

    On Tuesday, the FBR published S.R.O. 587(I)/2022 to replace S.R.O. 39(I)/2022, which was issued on January 8, 2022. It has amended the value of compressed natural gas (CNG) supply to consumers in order to charge sales tax from CNG stations.

    It has set the value of supply to CNG customers in order for gas generation and distribution businesses to charge sales tax from CNG stations.

    The price of CNG in Region-I, which includes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Potohar, has been raised from Rs134.57 per kg to Rs140 per kg (Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Gujar Khan).

    Moreover, the cost of CNG has been raised from Rs128.11 per kg to Rs135 per kg in Region-II, which covers Sindh and Punjab except for the Potohar region.

  • Honda Pakistan announces a massive price hike for all cars

    Following the price hike trend by several automakers in Pakistan, Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) has increased the prices of all cars by Rs 250,000 to Rs 400,000. The new prices announced by Honda are effective from today, March 26, 2022.

    Considering the flagship and most popular sedan from Honda, the new Honda Civic 2022 1.5L Turbo M-CVT, Oriel 1.5L Turbo M-CVT, and RS 1.5L Turbo LL-CVT will now cost Rs 5.399 million, Rs 5.649 million, and Rs 6.499 million, after the hike of Rs 300,000, Rs 250,000 and Rs 350,000 respectively.

    Top variants of Honda City, including City 1.5L CVT, 1.5L City Aspire Manual, and 1.5L Aspire CVT now cost Rs 3.446m, Rs 3.579 million, and Rs 3.749 million, after a jump of Rs 295,000 to Rs 300,000.

    The new price of Honda City 1.2L MT and CVT variant is Rs 3.129 million and Rs 3.249 million, which saw a surge of Rs 400,000 and Rs 300,000 respectively. After an increase of Rs 390,000, Honda’s MPV BR-V CVT S is now priced at Rs 4.079 million.

    It is worth noting that the retail price is applicable on orders made till November 2021 as well as full payment received by March 31. The current retail price is also applicable on back order and full payment till March 24 with expected delivery in June.

    Moreover, Honda revealed that 50 per cent of the price increase would be applicable on back order with expected delivery till June and full payment received till April 30.

    Honda Cars India has revealed all upgraded specs of 6th-generation City in India which will come in both petrol and diesel engine, has more technological features, is larger as compared to its predecessors and is due to hit the roads next month.

    Amid a sense of buzz that has returned to the rather sedate sedan segment in India, car enthusiasts in Pakistan are also keeping an earnest eye out as the 6th-generation offers a slew of upgrades — both in terms of style and drive capabilities, Hindustan Times reported.

    Honda City is quite a popular model in Pakistan but the car has not received much in terms of facelifts and upgrades over the last few years. In a recent comparison between the upcoming City in India and the existing model doing the miles in Pakistan, PakWheels pointed out the glaring differences while also highlighting that the price difference is next to negligible.

    According to the automotive blog, the existing City in the country lacks some of the most basic features that are now almost standard in cars sitting in a much lower segment in the Indian market, as well as in the previous generation City there. The absence of airbags, cruise control, LED headlights, LED taillights, remote entry, rear AC vents, one-touch sunroof are some of the key features that the model in Pakistan skips altogether. Quite obviously then, the City in Pakistan also does not have new features that the sixth-generation model incorporates like Lane Watch camera, Alexa compatibility and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TMPS) display.

    While Honda Cars India will officially launch the new City on July 15, Honda Atlas Cars is not expected to launch it in Pakistan anytime before 2021. And even when launched, the car could be priced a lot more than its Indian counterpart because of factors such as vastly different demand scales, production scales and tax structuring etc.
