Aamna Ilyas gives her ‘final proclamation’ on fat-shaming comments

Following immense criticism and backlash on social media over her fat shaming comments on former model Aaminah Haq, Aamna Ilyas has given her “final proclamation” on the matter.

In a video, shared to Instagram, the model-turned-actor said: “The claim that I called someone fat two years ago is not true. TV, media, bloggers – kindly ignore them all. I will tell you the truth.”

Ilyas began her explanation by narrating all the instances from her childhood in which she ridiculed people over their looks to point out that body-shaming wasn’t the only thing she was guilty of – since she was going to be judged for her past anyway.

“I was 6-years-old when we had a disabled cook Nauman – I used to make fun of his limping, calling him loora Nomi loora Nomi,” said Ilyas. “When my cousin had a child, I wouldn’t embrace her in my arms, making faces at how pheeni she was. I was 12 then.”

“At 15, my school teacher had a speech impairment. I would imitate his stutter and stammering. I ridiculed my best friend for being tidda (too short) and made fun of the guests at my home for being too dark.”

“I have never called a single person fat in my life – I prefer to use words like elephant, bull or hippopotamus instead,” the model continued, before making her point for sharing all this.

“No one enters this world knowing all the ethics, so please don’t tell me you all never said these things. But you still wouldn’t give another person a second chance,” she remarked angrily. Imitating some of the criticism she received in the past couple of days, Ilyas went on to say “She said something wrong in the 90s so how can she preach something right today? How dare her!”

Concluding her video, Aamna said: “Aaminah Haq, I cannot change what I did. I cannot undo the pain I might have caused you – but I try to be a better me every day. And for all you guys, for the last time, I am not her.”

Meanwhile, Ayeza Khan also posted a ‘friendly’ advise for Aamna under her post. In a comment, Ayeza had written: “Dear Aamna! You have worked so hard to build this career for yourself and there’s so much more waiting for you in the future. Don’t indulge in this mess.”

In response to Ayeza, Aamna commented: “Love you too! This is such brilliant advice and I’ll need many more from you in the future. So, why have you unfollowed me?”

Aamna had earlier mocked Ayeza’s latest fairness cream advertisement in a re-enactment video. The video, however, did not sit well with her fans and followers, who advised her to apologise to Ayeza for it.

  • Money Heist’s Pakistani lookalikes you won’t believe

The Netflix series has been trending in Pakistan and was number one when part four came out. It was even bigger this time since this year it included invaluable help from Pakistanis for the rebellious gang. Every Pakistani fan was so excited to have Pakistan be a part of the revolution and the joy hasn’t died down yet.

So we had to ask? Doesn’t every single major character in the show look like a Pakistani actor? Don’t believe us? Here we go:

We have to begin with the Professor because we love him. And who better to play him than the distinguished Fawad Khan, who keeps his cool, deals with so many people and always looks like he has a plan. Moreover, with a beard and glasses, you can barely tell the two apart.

Monika is everyone’s hot favourite this season and there is literally no difference between her and Ayeza Khan; and after seeing her stellar, strong performance in Meray Paas Tum Ho we all know that Ayeza can totally pull the role off.

Rio’s innocence can only be replicated by Shehroz Sabzwari. He might not act well enough to be Rio but he’s definitely got the look.

We literally couldn’t tell these two apart. Meesha definitely has the looks, and the fire, to play the rebellious Tokyo.

Dashing and smooth? Adnan Siddiqui is the top search result for Berlin.

Fire, spunk and the guts to take the police and government on, Nausheen Shah is the perfect fit for Raquel.

Our favourite, our warrior and the star of this season, Nairobi, could only be played by the impeccable Saba Qamar.

Did you think we could actually forget Denver? No way! We can’t forget how similar Ali Rehman Khan looks to this conflicted and emotional character.

Even though our beloved Humayun Saeed didn’t make the final cut, we all remember the time when rumours began that he was a part of part four.

Have to say, we saw this one coming. Given how important a mask is during the ongoing global pandemic, it was only a matter of time before designers started producing well, designer masks.

And Ayeza Khan, for a Ramzan transmission appearance, decided to accessorize her look with a matching mask and said that every outfit should come with a matching mask now.

Ayeza Khan responds to being called ‘do takay ki aurat’ in public

Meray Paas Tum Ho ended a month ago but the hype is still there and people are still making jokes and memes about it. Ayeza Khan has been immortalised as her character in the drama – the selfish, ‘do takay’ ki Mehwish so much so that the character follows her everywhere.

Recently, a tweet went viral on social media in which the Twitter user had claimed that he was at the airport at the same time as Ayeza and a group of men had loudly called her a do takay ki larki referencing to her character in the drama serial. He added that the incident made Ayeza uncomfortable and she immediately walked away from the scene.

Soon after the tweet went viral, Ayeza took to social media to share her side of the story. According to Ayeza, the incident never happened. She said that people loved her as Mehwish and continue to shower praises on her for her performance. Ayeza asserted that she is an actor and will continue to play different roles and characters.

The Twitter user, identified as Ahmad Butt, has made his Twitter account private after the incident.

Adnan Siddiqui says some dialogues of ‘Meray Paas Tum Ho’ were problematic

Blockbuster Meray Paas Tum Ho has ended but the hype surrounding it certainly hasn’t. While at one point audiences are unable to get over Danish’s unexpected death, on the other end the debate surrounding problematic dialogues in the drama also continues.

Adnan Siddiqui who played the suave Shehwar Ahmed in the drama serial, while thanking his fans for their response and appreciation, said that he understands that “the dialogues had some problematic leanings, and sometimes went a little far, sometimes quite far in painting women with a single brush stroke”, adding that he “wishes the drama had consciously added nuance to the storyline”.

Adnan also said that he will focus on improving storylines which is why in his own production company, he will be “giving women writers the chance and space to create good content”.

While the drama was a phenomenal success and went onto become television’s highest-rated drama, it did stir up controversy with its problematic dialogues and comments by the writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar in his various interviews. The writer was accused of being misogynist and anti-women.

A few days before the finale, upcoming actor, Rehmat Ajmal, who plays Danish (Humayun Saeed) and Mehwish’s (Ayeza Khan) friend Aisha in the drama, said that she is “not proud to be part of something that is so compromising and ill-informed”.
