Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari and Mahmood Choudhry’s wedding extravaganza over the weekend is all anyone can talk about. The two tied the knot in an intimate nikkah ceremony on January 29 with a wedding reception the next day. Pictures and details from the wedding festivities are limited considering there was a no cellphone policy at the event and guests were also limited because of COVID-19 SOPs.
However, while thanking everyone for their prayers and wishes, the bride promised that the couple “will be sharing [their] joy” with their wellwishers through the moments captured.
Staying true to their word, Bakhtawar and Mahmood shared pictures of themselves from their mehndi night on social media. While the groom donned a cream shalwar kameez with a shawl for the occasion, the bride glowed in a red and green outfit by Zara Shahjahan. Bakhtawar also shared a closeup of her outfit to show the details which included a tribute to her late mother Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
The dupatta was embroidered with the poem, ‘Woh ladki laal qalandar’ and Bakhtawar also held a pouch an embroidered portrait of Benazir on it.
Speaking to a local media outlet, the designer shared that the “lehnga had patchworks of Sindhi embroidery and mirrors” on it. She further revealed that the embellishments on the shirt “were worked with flowers and at the centre of every flower, we embroidered Bakhtawar and Mahmood’s names.”
“It was all done very minutely which is why it isn’t easily visible in the photographs,” she added.

Bakhtawar and Mahmood got engaged in an intimate ceremony in November 2020 at Bilawal House. Bilawal was unable to attend the event since he had tested positive for coronavirus at that time and was in quarantine.
Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari and Mahmood Y Choudhry have said their qubool hais and have officially tied the knot.
Sharing pictures from the wedding on social media, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari expressed his happiness over the occasion and remembered his late mother Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
“Happiest moment in many years to see my sister Bakhtawar getting married,” wrote Bilawal on Twitter. “Felt like our mother was watching over us in this moment of joy.”
“Wishing them both all the best of for their new life together. Masha’Allah!,” he added.
Similarly, sharing a lovely picture of the bride and groom, Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari wrote: “Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and joy. Mubarak Mubarak.”
“I love you, my dear sister. I wish you a happy married life,” she added.
The nikkah ceremony is expected to be followed by a baraat reception on Saturday, January 30. According to a spokesperson of Bilawal House, close to a thousand guests have been invited to the reception. Invitations have reportedly also been sent to important political leaders of the country including military leaders and judicial heads.
Earlier, the bride had shared pictures of herself getting her bridal mehndi done.
Meanwhile, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry extended his best wishes towards the newlyweds.

Bakhtawar and Mahmood got engaged on November 27, 2020, in an intimate ceremony at the Bilawal House Karachi. For the unacquainted, Bakhtawar’s husband “Mahmood Choudhry is the son of Mohammad Younas and Begum Suraiya Choudhry who hail from the old town of Lahore,” according to a statement issued by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
“Mahmood, the last born of five siblings was born on July 28, 1988, in the city of Abu Dhabi. He completed his primary schooling in Abu Dhabi and secondary schooling in the United Kingdom. Mahmood further went on to read Law at the University of Durham.”
“The family’s primary country of residence remains the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where Mahmood continues to run his businesses in construction, finance and tech,” added the statement.
Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and former president Asif Ali Zardari’s eldest daughter Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari got engaged to Dubai-based businessman Mahmood Choudhry in a beautiful day-time event on Friday at Bilawal House, Karachi.
The newly engaged couple looked radiant on their big day and Bakhtawar glowed in light pink outfit paired with a beige Mughlia chaddar. As per details, Bakhtawar’s outfit was designed by Karachi-based designer Nida Azwer. The designer shared pictures of Bakhtawar on her social media handles and wished the couple all the best for the new chapter in their life.
Meanwhile, Bakhtawar’s brother Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari was unable to attend the event since he tested positive for coronavirus and is now in quarantine. He will hopefully be able to attend the wedding which is expected to take place in January 2021 in Karachi.
