Barzakh, is a drama that combines elements of myth and reality. The show follows a stranged family’s journey as they uncover old resentments and buried secrets. The web series reunites Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, who previously starred together in the iconic drama ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai.’
It has a talented cast, including Salman Shahid, Syed Arham, Khushhal Khan, and Franco Giusti. The story begins with three siblings reuniting for their father’s third wedding. Their father, Aaqa, is an old man who still has his wits about him. His daughter, Scheherezade looks after him and the family hotel, Mehtab Mahal, which was built in memory of his first love. The two sons from his first marriage, Shehryar (played by Fawad Khan) and Saifullah, seem distant from their father.
Barzakh touches on controversial topics like homosexuality and unusual family relationships. Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed play half-siblings instead of romantic interests, which might surprise some viewers, but these elements add depth to the story.
The web series is visually beautiful, with a great set in the beautiful mountainous locations in Hunza valley. The first episode leaves viewers eager to see more, hinting at hidden family secrets and interesting possibilities.
In a country where diabetes is becoming an increasingly prevalent health concern, actor Fawad Khan is sharing his personal story of living with the disease and urging others to take control of their health and make informed choices about their diet. During an interview with ‘Fuchsia Magazine’, the superstar was asked by the host, “You suffered from diabetes at a very young age, and you still have it. I think many people in Pakistan are diagnosed with it, but we don’t take it seriously enough. Do you think this is a widespread issue?”
Fawad Khan said, “I’m worried about the rising prevalence of diabetes in Pakistan, especially among children as young as four to eight years old. Diabetes can affect anyone, regardless of age, so it’s essential to be mindful of sugar intake.” “Sugar is not a necessity, it’s a desire. You can quit it, and it’s not good for your health.” Khan added.
The Barzakh actor advised his fans: “It is your own decision how much sweet you want to consume and how much you don’t.” Fawad Khan concluded, “Sugar damages your body just like other banned drugs. I’ve learned from my own experiences and those of others that sugar is your biggest enemy.”
Fawad Khan is currently starring in a web series along with Sanam Saeed, Salman Shahid, Syed Arham, Khushhal Khan, and Uzma Beg. This series is written and directed by Asim Abbasi.
Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed’s ‘Barzakh’ has built up massive anticipation as its release date draws nearer.
The drama is not just Fawad’s first major production in years, it also has the distinction of being about a supernatural love story. So, how was the shooting in the beautiful locations of Pakistan’s remote north?
Spooky, as per Fawad.
The superstar has revealed a terrifying encounter with the unknown while shooting for ‘Barzakh’, leaving everyone confused and intrigued.
Recently, Fawad and Sanam appeared as guests on ‘Something Haute’ hosted by Amna Haider.
Fawad shared an unusual incident that occurred during shooting in a house in Gilgit-Baltistan.
“One night, I went outside and saw the sky, clouds, and mountains under the dim moonlight, and I felt a strange sensation. There were a few empty rooms, and suddenly the light in one of those rooms started flickering on and off, and then the same happened in another room,” the heartthrob narrated.
He then told the host about a similar incident during shooting in Chitral.
Fawad said, “I was in a bathroom with a tin ceiling. I felt as if something was on the ceiling, possibly an animal, but I couldn’t be sure. It was breathing very deeply.”
The incidents just add to the anticipation of the mega production. We can’t wait.

Pakistan’s TV dramas are well-known for telling powerful and realistic stories. They’re loved not just domestically but across the border in India too.
Fawad Khan, one of the biggest stars in the industry, has a fair idea of why Pakistani dramas are as popular as they are. During an interview with Pinkvilla India, the superstar was asked by the host, “What do you think is the USP of Pakistan dramas that are hitting the right cord over here for the Indian audience?”
Fawad replied, “We Pakistanis have always used drama as a medium to tell our stories, and that’s taught us the art of storytelling. We’ve learned how to weave a narrative, how to develop characters, and how to engage our audience. It’s a craft we’ve honed over the years, and we’re proud of our expertise in this field.”
He continued to explain: “When we give something time, and the audience appreciates it, it means we are doing something right, just like Bollywood does in India.”
The Barzakh actor said, “Indian writers are skilled at presenting their stories in an engaging way through films, owing to their experience in longer narrative formats. This preference for soaps over dramas on television has led to a decline in audience interest compared to previous times.”
How happy are we that superstar Fawad Khan is out and about promoting a new project? Very very happy!
The former rock star and now famous actor is always in the spotlight. His new supernatural web series, ‘Barzakh,’ will be released online on July 19. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Fawad discussed his latest project and the special appeal of Pakistani dramas.
Fawad said he knew ‘Barzakh’ was a great project after reading the script. “When I read the script, I was sold,” he shared. “The script, the team, and especially the director, Asim Abbasi, were amazing. I’ve seen his earlier work, and he is a fantastic director.”
Fawad recalled shooting for his role and laughed about how “unhinged” his character, Sheheryar the psychiatrist, becomes as the show goes on. “He’s a candidate for therapy himself! I’m laughing about it now, but shooting it was emotionally disturbing on many levels.”
After their successful show ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai,’ Fawad was excited to work with Sanam Saeed again. “She is an incredible actor,” he said warmly. “I feel very comfortable working with her. As actors, our job is about reacting to each other, and she makes it so much easier.”
Meera, our absolute favourite Lollywood diva, never fails to shock and intrigue with her revelations and attention grabbing behavior.
During the interview the host Ambreen Fatima asked, “When will we get to see Meera alongside Fawad Khan?”
Meera said, “There’s a lot of talk going on about Fawad Khan, but it depends on the director’s decision. If I’m alive, I’ll definitely work with him if the opportunity arises.”
Fawad Khan has starred in dramas like Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzar Hai, and Dastaan. He also worked in films like The Legend of Maula Jatt, Khoobsurat, Ae Dil Mukshil, and Money Back Guarantee. Fawad’s upcoming series Barzakh will air on Zee Zindagi on July 19.

Speaking to The Current, Farooq called 22 Qadam “the voice of the unheard” and said that the sole inspiration behind this show was women like Sana Mir:
“The first person that comes to our mind when you talk about women and cricket is Sana Mir, she’s been an inspiration for so many women out there. It is just about breaking stereotypes and the taboos out there that women can also excel in sports, and if nothing else it makes you more independent and gives you that confidence that allows you to face the world in the best way possible.”
College Gate
It looks like the entertainment industry has finally understood that there isn’t any one out there willnigly ready to sit down and listen to another shaadi story about underaged women marrying men twice their age, because we’re finally getting a story about college students and their personal experiences. Barzakh
Starring power leads Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed along with newcomer model Khushhal Khan, the series has definitely captured our attention, especially the fact that it is written and directed by the mastermind behind Churails (2018), Asim Abbasi. Speaking to Variety, Abbasi said that the inspiration for the series came after the death of his father and watching his own son grow into a young boy:
“In the aftermath of my father’s passing, and witnessing my son grow into a young boy, I found myself consumed with nostalgia, and memories of times gone and loves lost. And I began to think about my fears – the end of consciousness, the end of imagination, the end of love. And from these fears, grew a story where love was indeed eternal. Where it survived us – making it the ultimate human legacy.”
Producer of the series Kerjiwal said:
“‘Barzakh’ is a product of COVID brain – it was a time where like everyone else, Asim and I were talking about love, life, death, losing loved ones, unable to say our goodbyes. There was a sense of loss, but also confusion, because of a lack of completion. Death and parting didn’t seem like a finality like it used to because funerals and weddings were both happening on Zoom.
This new reality was surreal and to make any sense of it, physical contact or in-person meeting with friends and family became crucial. Hence the idea about a show which essentially was a family reunion came up.”
101 Talakhien
This looks like the perfect drama for anyone (especially us) who is bored to death of marriage obsessed culture, and wants something dark and satirical- which is exactly what the show promises to deliver. Zahid Ahmed stars as famous lawyer Rustom Kavasji, who artfully decodes how couples begin to fall apart after getting married.
Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri
This seems like a Pakistani version of K-dramas which will explore the thrills of high school relationships, because this trailer has already got us counting down the days to the release. TikTok star Dananeer and model and actor Khushhal Khan are the main leads of the drama and are shown to be complete opposites, who slowly come to fall in love with each other. However, their relationship is threatened by their parents leading to the couple going to any lengths to protect their relationship.
