Nadia Khan is not OK with veteran actor Behroze Sabwari’s misogynistic comments, whether they are recent or old.

In her show, she said, “I think it is okay if he only talks about himself, I have a problem when he pass statements on women. In a recent podcast, he talked about his ex-daughter-in-law. Sometimes, he talks against other women, he also criticizes women for their clothing, and he keeps an eye on how women dress up. Sometimes, he talks against me, it has become a pattern now. Hina Bayat made a brilliant video on his recent viral statement. I really liked her stance. I think it is true that he is enjoying being discussed on various platforms after such statements.”

Earlier, Behroze Sabzwari was invited as a guest on Nadir Ali’s podcast, where he made several controversial remarks about women. He said, “In Pakistan, a lot of people have motorbikes. Obviously, everyone can’t afford cars. There is inflation and people are barely surviving, but I have noticed one thing: the dressing of women is not appropriate while sitting on bikes. Some women wear weird clothes which cannot be called appropriate. They are not good at all. The clothes are not only see-through but usually are very tight. It shows home training. Women should be fully covered while sitting on the motorbike. This should be strictly kept in mind. Men should also control their eyes, and women should be dressed in an appropriate manner.”

  • Behroze Sabzwari still thinks of Syra as ‘daughter’

Behroze Sabzwari still thinks of Syra as ‘daughter’

Veteran actors Behroze Sabzwari and Javed Sheikh appeared as guests on Madeha Naqvi’s show ‘Subh Ka Samma Madeha Kay Sath’ where they talked about their family dynamics.

Sabzwari particularly talked about his ex-daughter-in-law Syra Yousaf, who went through a public divorce with his son Shehroze in 2020. “I never pressured my son when it came to choosing a life partner. I also praised Syra, calling her a great woman and she is still like a daughter to me.”

Javed Sheikh also spoke up, saying, “Behroze went to pick Syra up from the airport when she returned from Umrah, accompanied by Zahra, who is very close to both Nooreh and Syra and spends hours with her ‘Mimi’ (the affectionate name she has for Syra).”

Syra recently returned from Umrah with her daughter after Eid.

Since their secret wedding in 2020, Shehroz Sabzwari and Sadaf Kanwal’s marriage has been under public attention. Social media users began spreading rumours about the relationship in 2019, with some claiming that Sadaf was the reason behind Shehroz’s divorce from his ex-wife, Syra Yousuf.

Behroze Sabzwari, Nadia Afgan slam unprofessionalism among young actors

Veteran actor Behroze Sabzwari and long-time star Nadia Afgan recently appeared on Suno TV’s show ‘Showtime with Ramiz’.
The host Hina questioned Behroze, “When we talk about new actors, we’re talking about the youth; there are abundant facilities, and they also receive good pay. Do you think the standard of acting now is the same as it was during your time?”

Behroze Sabzwari said, “Pakistan’s standards are generally low, so how can actors be expected to excel? Education teaches basic ethics, but they’re lacking everywhere.’
Nadia Afgan added, “Discipline, hard work, and dedication are essential. Practice makes perfect, but today’s actors seem lost when it comes to their lines and refuse to rehearse. They even ask us for help with their lines.”

  • Why are women still being pushed back from their right of public transport?

Why are women still being pushed back from their right of public transport?

We’ve heard sleazy men behind anonymous accounts push back against this. We’ve seen boomers roll their eyes every time they see this happen. Now, recently, we’ve had to listen to the unsolicited opinion of Behroze Sabzwari on this issue. Can you guess what causes these men to go into frenzied anger? It’s the ability of a woman to choose independence by taking public transport.

It is amusing how this country won’t revolt in a political or economic crisis, however, our mard hazarat will unleash hell when a Pakistani woman is walking down the street without a dupatta or even riding a bike. The consistent way women have to fight away unsolicited opinions that drag her in to a box, unable to express her individuality and bound away from walking outside is a by-product of centuries of male entitlement and patriarchal oppression that consider women as inferior beings.

A few days ago, women had to witness a mansplaining Behroze Sabzwari expressing anger that women shouldn’t wear tight-fitted clothes while riding bikes. “The clothes are not only see through but usually are very tight, women should be fully covered,” said the television veteran who owes his career mostly to women’s writing. It’s shocking that not only does Mr Sabzwari encourage drivers to spend more time oogling women while driving, but also does not take into account how dupattas or abayas can get caught in wheels, potentially causing a dangerous accident.

Founder of Soul Sisters Pakistan, Kanwal Ahmed, has now jumped in to take back the narrative from men and allow women to express their own choices whether that includes driving motorbikes wearing abayas or refusing to sit sideways. The film maker has posted on Twitter that she wishes for women to stop feeding in to misogynist policing that is making them neglect proper safety while riding bikes on roads, and shared how today she had seen a woman suffer because her dupatta had gotten entangled in the tire of her bike.

Women soon began to flood the comments with instances of how they had to counter sexism and shame when choosing to ride motorbikes .

This user shared how even in situations of life and death, a man’s honor is considered more important than a woman’s safety because of how little regard is given to the way women are sitting on motorbikes.

We need to stop validating male honor and giving it preference to the point that women have to risk the chance of an accident rather than riding motorbikes safely. Women should not be forced into molding themselves according to what men think, and it’s about time the anonymous Bashir’s of the internet back off, let women reclaim the streets wearing whatever they want and ride any vehicle of their choice.
