    The Glassworker collects Rs10 million in opening weekend

    Usman Riaz’s first hand-drawn animated film, The Glassworker, made a successful debut with more than Rs 10 million collected at the box office in its opening weekend. The movie has created interest among people of all age groups and brought audiences to Pakistani cinemas.

    The Glassworker is produced by Geo Films and directed by Usman Riaz and Mairam Riaz Paracha. The film showcases Riaz’s unique storytelling and artistic vision in the Studio Ghibli style. The film became a success story and is a new chapter in Pakistani cinema, after Geo Films’ previous hits like Khuda Kay Liye, Teefa in Trouble, The Legend of Maula Jatt, and The Donkey King.

    In an interview with BBC, the writer and director of The Glassworker talked about how many years it took to make the film.

    “These 10 years for me have just been purely driven with passion and obsession. The film’s production took four years, but the entire journey took 10 years. I was 23 when I started, and I am 33 now,” Usman Riaz added.

    The Glassworker was released on July 26, 2024 all across Pakistan.

    Game shows in the holy month of Ramazan are a major form of entertainment for television audiences in which people are entertained by interactive games with enormous prizes.

    Three private channels are telecasting game shows such as ARY ‘s Jeeto Pakistan League hosted by actor Fahad Mustafa, Game Show Aisay Chalay Ga Ramazan League on BOL Entertainment headlined by Danish Taimoor and Khel Kay Jeet With Sheheryar Munawar, on Express Entertainment.

    According to the YouTube viewership, Jeeto Pakistan is the number one game show this year.

    This game show was launched in the year of 2014. We have analysed an episode of ARY’s game show from Friday episode which has got around 434,513 views with 8,000 likes till April 22. This game show is based on the seven teams from different cities and each has a celebrity captain. In each team, the audience plays the game under the captain’s leadership. The winner’s team gets grand prizes. This year, the program has added one more team, Gujranwala Bulls. The concept of teams is similar to the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Some team captains are led by cricket players such as Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmed.

    Game Show Aisay Chalay Ga Ramazan League

    This game show was launched in December 2018 and was hosted by actor Nabeel Zafar. Now it is being hosted by actor Danish Taimoor. The Friday episode of this game show has gotten around 66,000 views with approximately 2300 likes till April 22. In this game, all teams consist of young social media influencers mainly from the TikTok platform. Besides social media teams, audiences also get involved in several games such as the tug of war segment.

    This show is currently lagging in the number game. According to its Friday episode, it has gained only a few thousand views on YouTube. This show is launched this year.

    Until now, it has around 29,00 views on the first part of the program. Other parts of the episode have only a few thousand views on YouTube.

    Actor Humaima Malick criticised online portals and bloggers over fake rumours of her marriage that are spreading over social media.

    She took to her Instagram handle and refute all the fake news related to her marriage. She further stated that every month media publish her marriage with some personality that embarrasses her and her family.

    She added that celebrities are photographed with those people whom they respect and bloggers circulate the fake rumours of marriage with them.

    In the end, she told the fans that she would announce her wedding publicly and requested her followers not to trust such misleading news about her.

    In her second post, Bol star addressed those bloggers who circulated the fake rumours about the marriage and penned, “Shame to all bloggers!”

    She uploaded another post where she highly criticised the actions for rating and increasing the viewership of media outlets.

    Recently, an actor uploaded a picture with a spiritual person whom she greatly respect and seek guidance to spend a peaceful life. However, some bloggers made him her husband and post fake news.

    “I was offered the lead role in Bol by Shoaib Mansoor (director) and I really wanted to do it but I was married at that time and my former husband didn’t allow it.”

    Nadia claimed that she was offered Humaima Malik’s role in ‘Bol’ but her family was against the role, which was beautifully written for her first. She added that the film’s director Shoaib Mansoor insisted her to accept the offer but her husband and in-laws did not allow her so she refused the role.

    BOL Network, which many deem as one of the country’s most controversial media outlets, has clarified its position after a viral screen grab from its Iftar transmission, showing Pakistan’s popular alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages manufacturer Murree Brewery as a sponsor, caused outrage over the internet.

    “Iftar sponsored by: Murree Brewery” could be seen popping up on television screens during BOL’s transmission in Ramzan as the channel hosted religious scholars, clerics and celebrities for Iftar every day.

    “Murree Brewery is a juice manufacturer,” actor Danish Taimoor clarified as he hosted his game show on BOL with host of the Iftar transmission in the hotseat.

    While it was also pointed out by several Twitterati that Murree Brewery also manufactured non-alcoholic beverages, Taimoor went on to name some of the juices and other non-alcoholic drinks by the beverages manufacturer.

    “People are assuming its just alcohol. But as Muslims, we cannot even think of doing it,” he said as the host of the Ramzan transmission also clarified and said he had also apologised during his own show and the logo had been removed.

    “It was a misunderstanding and we cannot even think of doing something of the sort,” the two reiterated.
