  • Nick Jonas thanks Priyanka for ‘staying by his side’

    Nick Jonas has penned a thank you note for his wife Priyanka Chopra for staying by his side and helping him present at the Billboard Music Awards (BMAs). Nick recently broke his rib while shooting for an upcoming project.

    “I started this last week by taking a brutal tumble on a bike, fracturing my rib and ended it hosting the Billboard Music Awards with my incredible wife by my side who helped me every step of the way to recover and feel my best,” wrote Nick adding, “I love you Priyanka Chopra.”

    Chopra reportedly flew from London to Los Angeles to help Jonas present following his accident and give him support.

    He also shared how grateful he was for the opportunity saying: “I have watched this show since I was a kid and to be asked to host was an honour.”

    Priyanka also wrote a “husband appreciation” post for Nick. “Not even a cracked rib can stop this force of nature,” wrote Chopra.

    “So proud of you baby. With everything you do! Your work ethic, your pursuit of excellence! You inspire me everyday! Crushed it today! I love you so much!,” she added.

    Priyanka and Nick made heads turn as they posed together on the red carpet. While Chopra wore a sheer nude plunge dress with a high leg slit by Dolce & Gabbana paired with Bulgari jewelry, Jonas looked dapper in a green Fendi suit.

    The annual BMAs took place on May 23 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles with Jonas serving as host for the first time. The Weeknd swept the ceremony receiving 10 awards for his chart-topping album After Hours and single Blinding Lights.

    Alka Yagnik praises Imran Abbas’ singing skills

    Imran Abbas has earned a thumbs up from Bollywood music legend Alka Yagnik for his singing skills.

    Commenting on a video of Imran’s in which he is singing Yagnik and Udit Narayan’s Tu Mere Samnay while driving in Swat, Yagnik said: “Bohat acha gaatay hain aap (You sing very well).”

    “And what a beautiful drive,” added the Indian musician.

    In the video, Imran can be heard singing Tu Meray Samnay from the 2003 film Chori Chori featuring Ajay Devgn, Rani Mukherjee and Sonali Bendre.

    “My love for 90s film music is totally unexplainable and when it comes to Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan, the craziness just hits the ceiling,” wrote Abbas in the caption.

    Meanwhile, this is not the first time Abbas demonstrated his singing skills for his fans and followers. Earlier a video of Imran singing Aik Pal Ki Khushi from the Pakistani film Karz with Babar Ali went viral on social media.

    Actor Arjun Kapoor who’s movie Sardar ka Grandson has been recently released talked about Pakistan and India’s relationship in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama. He praised Pakistan and also mentioned gestures of love India had received from the people of Pakistan during the current COVID-19 crisis.

    “You should not forget that in the time of need [Covid-19 crisis], there was a helping hand and that should be respected in the bigger picture,” Arjun said.

    “This is one such time when emotions have resonated and people are coming together and leaving aside borders and whatever the political scenario might have been, one or two years back,” he added.

     “Except for cricket, we have friendship and I just hope that friendship is kept alive and maintained,” he said while talking about the relationship between both countries.

    He continued by saying, “Today, the obstacles are more; I hope some obstacles get eradicated. I can just hope and pray that the distance and vacuum that has been created go away and we are able to co-exist in peace.”

    Sardar ka Grandson also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Neena Gupta alongside Arjun Kapoor in lead roles and was released on May 18. It is “a story of a romance that spans seven decades and two countries, a story of sub-continental hustling and earthy ingenuity, a story of victory against impossible odds.”

    Amitabh Bachchan’s office in Mumbai was flooded after Cyclone Tauktae hit India’s coastal city on Monday.

    The Bollywood superstar shared the news with his fans through his blog, in which he wrote that his office, Janak, was flooded after the storm and heavy rains and that the “sheds and shelters for some staff” were “blown away”.

    “There is an eerie silence in the midst of the cyclone,” wrote the actor in his blog. “The pounding and the lashing rains all day. Trees fell, leakages all over, flooding in the vulnerable Janak office. Impromptu plastic cover sheets still in prep for the heavy monsoon rain, ripped apart. Sheds and shelters for some staff blown away.”

    Bachchan also praised his staff for rushing to rescue the situation, calling them “simply amazing in such conditions.”

    The actor said that he thanked them for working in the trickling downpour by offering them clothes from his closet, as a result of which they are now moving “proudly as Chelsea and Jaipur Pink Panther supporters”.

    Earlier, Bachchan has also extended prayers for everyone be safe and protected during the cyclone.

    Maulana Tariq Jamil (MTJ) has reportedly praised Salman Khan for being an obedient son.

    In a video that has gone viral on social media, the religious scholar can be seen prasing the Bollywood superstar and extending Eid greetings to him and his family.

    “I wholeheartedly wish Eid to the family members from my side,” says MTJ in the video. “Salim Khan is fortunate to have an obedient son like Salman. He is working as your servant despite being such a big celebrity.”

    “Shoaib Akhtar told me two things about him which made me his fan,” said MTJ. “One that he is obedient to his parents and the second that he is very generous.”

    The religious scholar added that Allah loves generous people.

    Mawra Hocane has sent love to Neetu Kapoor on Rishi Kapoor’s first death anniversary.

    Commenting on Neetu’s post in which she remembered her late husband, Mawra Hocane posted three hearts to extend her love and prayers.

    “All of last year has been of grief and sadness around the world for us maybe more as we lost him,” wrote Neetu, alongside a black and white picture of her and Rishi.

    “Not a day has gone by when we have not discussed or reminisced him as he was an extension of our existence. Sometimes his wise advice, his wisecracks, his anecdotes,” she continued. “We have celebrated him all year with a smile on the lips as he will stay in our hearts forever we have accepted life will never be the same without him.”

    Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also remembered her late father, saying: “If only I could hear you call me mushk once more.”

    Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020 in Mumbai after a two year long battle with cancer.

    Adnan Siddiqui also remembered Kapoor, saying: “The man who remained young at heart till his last moments, who loved life, the most swashbuckling romantic hero Bollywood ever had. #RishiKapoor sahib you may be gone but you live in our hearts forever.”

    Meanwhile, our Pakistani celebrities who got a chance to meet with the actor shared pictures of themselves with the romantic hero and remembered him.

    Humayun Saeed threw it back to the time they met Kapoor to cast him in Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2.

    “He was the best of the best,” wrote Humayun.

    Mawra Hocane shared a picture of when she met him in New York.

    “You shall continue to be the legend that you are. I’ll always remember you fondly,” said the actor.

    Zeba Bakhtiar recalled the time she shot the film Henna with the actor and wrote, “You were a superstar for us. RIP dear Rishi…my Chander Prakash. You are and forever will be in our hearts!”

    On Irrfan Khan’s first death anniversary, Adnan Siddiqui, who shared the screen with him in the 2007 film A Mighty Heart, has penned an emotional note for the late Bollywood actor.

    “Outstanding actor, human being par excellence,” wrote Adnan Siddiqui praising Irrfan Khan. “Irrfan bhai, I must have done something right in my life to have known you professionally and personally.”

    “Your vacuum in cinematic world remains as stark even after a year,” he added.

    Earlier, Adnan had shared that Khan’s death had left him “disturbed and gutted!”

    “A fine soul gone too soon,” Siddiqui had said, while recalling the moments spent with him.

    Meanwhile, Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar in an emotional Facebook post said that the world “stopped at 11:11 on April 29” for her as she fondly recalled beautiful moments spent with her husband.

    Khan’s son Babil also remembered his father in a heart touching post.

    Other celebrities who remembered Khan on his death anniversary include Dia Mirza, Arjun Kapoor and Randeep Hooda.

    Irrfan was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in 2018. He breathed his last at the age of 53 last year on April 29 after being hospitalized due to a colon infection. Khan, who has appeared in over 100 Hindi and foreign language films, has charted a fruitful career filled with cinematic gems.

    Bollywood stars step in to support India’s battle against COVID

    Bollywood bigwigs including Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Sunil Shetty among others have stepped in to support India in the battle against COVID-19, donating money and collecting resources, and urging citizens to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible.

    Here is a list of those who have offered help:

    Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna

    Bollywood’s power couple, Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna donated 100 oxygen concentrators and urged everyone to do whatever they can to help fight COVID-19.

    “Wonderful news – Dr Drashnika Patel and Dr Govind Bankani of London Elite Health through Daivik Foundation are donating 120 oxygen concentrators and as Akshay and I have managed to get our hands on 100 as well, we have a total of 220,” wrote Twinkle on social media. “Let’s all do our bit.”

    Khanna also shared that she was in a ‘bit of a hole’ for some time as her family was facing health issues. Kumar recently recovered from COVID after getting treatment at a Mumbai hospital.

    Previously, the couple had sent out monetary aid to various initiatives and contributed towards the welfare of policemen, hospital staff, frontline workers, and even daily wage workers of the film industry.

    Meanwhile, former cricketer Gautam Gambhir revealed that Kumar also donated Rs 1 crore to his foundation for coronavirus relief including food, medication and oxygen.

    Shetty has also arranged oxygen cylinders to bridge the shortage in India. He has launched an initiative urging his fans to contribute to ‘Mission MillionAir’ in an effort to provide free oxygen to those who can’t afford adequate healthcare in India.

    Ayushmann Khurrana

    Khurrana and his wife Tahira Kashyap have donated to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s Relief Fund to help aid people crippled by the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

    In a note posted on social media, Khurrana thanked each and every person who has constantly inspired the couple to contribute more towards helping people ravaged by the health crisis.

    “We have been in the eye of the storm since last year. This pandemic has broken our hearts, made us endure pain and suffering like never before, showed us how solidarity with one another can make us handle this humanitarian crisis,” read the couple’s statement.

    “Today, again, this pandemic asks us to show fortitude, resilience and mutual support. People, across India, have stepped forward to do as much as possible for each other and Tahira and I thank each and every individual who has inspired us to do more,” it added.

    Khurrana and Kashyap requested more Indians to step forward and help aid people in need.

    Khan restarted his food trucks to distribute food packets among the frontline workers in Mumbai.

    Actor Sonu Sood is leading the charge, transporting sick patients, providing medication and encouraging people to get vaccinated as the coronavirus death toll crosses 200,000 in India. Sood, who also fought off the virus, took to his Instagram to urge more people to come forward and help those who are suffering due to COVID-19. He posted a screen recording of his phone that shows the actor has been getting messages from people asking for help continuously. He says he is trying to help as many people as possible. “The speed at which we get requests across the country. Trying my best to reach out to everyone. Everyone…Please come forward. We need more helping hands. Do your best to the best of your capabilities,” he wrote.

    Kirron Kher

    Kher, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, stated she had allocated Rs10 million from Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) to purchase ventilators for COVID-19 patients by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh.

    Meanwhile, others like Ajay Devgn, Katrina Kaif, Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Abhishek Bachchan, Kunal Kapoor, Mira Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar have been using social media to amplify the voices of those in need.

    India passed 200,000 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, becoming the fourth country to do so, as it battles a devastating second wave of infections.

  • Indian actor thanks Pakistan for ‘bada dill’ amid COVID

    Swara Bhasker has thanked Pakistan for showing kindness to India “during this devastating times”.

    “Heartening to see Pakistani civil society and social media reach out in solidarity and kindness to India, during this devastating time,” wrote the actor on social media.

    She continued: “This despite the fact that our media and mainstream public discourse have consistently mocked and vilified Pakistanis.”

    “Thank you for your bada bada dil padosi,” she added.

    Twitter in Pakistan trended with hashtags showing solidarity to India, which also melted Kangana Ranaut’s heart, prompting her to thank Pakistan for extending prayers.

    Prime Minister Imran Khan and other cabinet members also extended their prayers for India and Faisal Edhi had also written a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi offering help in tackling COVID-19 in India.

    Atif Aslam also extended his prayers for the neighbouring country.

    India recorded over 350,000 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 8 am Monday, taking the country’s total infections to over 1.73 crores. Of these, over 28 lakh cases are currently active while 1.43 crore people have recovered after testing positive. With 2,812 new fatalities, the death toll is now over 1.95 lakh, The Indian Express has reported.

    As per Indian media reports, from the first wave of COVID-19, the demand for medical oxygen had increased from 700 metric tonnes per day to 2,800 metric tonnes per day. However, in the past few days, the demand has reached nearly 5,000 metric tonnes per day.

  • Alia Bhatt praises Pakistani rapper Muhammad Shah

    Ali Bhatt has appreciated and praised Pakistani rapper and comedian Muhammad Shah for a rap video he made on her.

    Titled Alia, the video is part of the rapper’s What if… series and shows him use references to the actor’s various films to create a beat. Shah, through the video, also expresses his desire to get to know Bhatt, asking her to “come a little closer,” but not too close because of the pandemic.

    In the credits at the end of the rap, Shah, while giving credit to his team, has also thanked Alia’s father Mahesh Bhatt.

    Earlier, Shah had also made three videos for Hania Aamir. When Shah’s first video did not grab Hania’s attention, he made another one on which Hania asked Shah about his plans on the 16th of that month. The 16th never came and a heartbroken Shah made a third video, hoping to catch Hania’s attention again.
