‘I was blackmailed’: boxer Amir Khan says model Sumaira extorted money from him

Bridal model Sumaira has shared screenshots of former Pakistani-British boxer Amir Khan begging her for nudes, and encouraging her to meet him behind the back of his wife Faryal, The Sun has reported. The article, dated July 1, gave details of Khan’s alleged messages, including ones where he is terming his marriage a “business arrangement” and saying that he and Faryal were not on speaking terms anymore.

    Sumaira revealed to The Sun:

“We had a phone call and he said he and Faryal were not properly together and that it was a bit of a business arrangement.

“He said he was 36 and retired and that Faryal spent a lot of time in London. He spun me a bit of a sob story, and to begin with I felt sorry for him and thought he was lonely.”

Khan has finally responded, recounting his side of the story by revealing that Sumaira deleted a lot of messages, only sharing a select few with the British tabloid which pushed the narrative of cheating on his wife, Geo reports.

The former boxer alleged that Sumaira had reached out to him on social media where she stated that she was looking to escape from her family. The model sent revealing pictures of Amir when he asked her about her faith, which Khan said he had rejected because he wasn’t impressed by the model’s actions.

“All I replied was that you look good but really that wasn’t something I was impressed by. To be honest, it put me off.”

Amir then went on to address whether he had written ‘I can’t stop looking’ to Sumaira, and he responded that it was on her request to give her a compliment.

“I wish you would say I can’t stop looking so I did. Then she sent a lot more and all I said was it’s nothing I haven’t seen before,” he confessed.

Then Khan revealed that Sumaira asked him to give her £20,000, saying that she needed to get hand surgery.

“I said I can’t give you any money. Go get a job and it’s wrong if you want money.”

Khan said the model was writing lies about him in order to make money to leave her family:

“The reason she went to the paper was I didn’t want to give her money. Her story about her family disowning her did upset me but I knew she’s on the money thing and is a liar. I stopped messaging her.”

He also went on to reject the allegation by Sumaria that the boxer wanted to cheat on his wife, and that their marriage was a ‘business relation’:

“I told her I am happily married. Not once did we speak about me and Faryal being together for the TV show. I think all my followers on socials know we are together and very happy. I reacted to the pictures out of the blue she sent me because I wanted to not upset her. But it wasn’t something you would take a look at twice. I also said to her sort your life out and that you are a Muslim girl. I’m sure your family will help you. She spoke ill about her family and why she didn’t live with them,” he confessed.

Amir Khan banned from all sport after failing dope test

British boxing star Amir Khan has been banned for two years after an anti-doping test revealed the presence of a prohibited substance.

The former light-weight world champion tested positive for ostarine, a drug mainly used to boost testosterone (male hormones). The UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) website states that

Amir Khan retired from boxing in May but he accepted that he was using the prohibited substance, however, it was not intentional.
An independent tribunal accepted that argument, ruling out “deliberate or reckless conduct” by the 36-year-old.

In October, British sprinter CJ Ujah was banned for 22 months after he tested positive for two banned substances, including ostarine, at the Tokyo Olympics.

“This case serves as a reminder that UKAD will diligently pursue anti-doping rule violations in order to protect clean sport,” chief executive Jane Rumble said.

“Strict liability means athletes are ultimately responsible for what they ingest and for the presence of any prohibited substances in a sample.”

The ban from all sports is deemed to have begun on 6 April 2022 and expires on 5 April 2024.

Khan, who won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics as a 17-year-old, was beaten by Brook via sixth-round knockout in what proved to be his final professional bout.

He retired from the sport three months later, finishing his career with 34 professional wins and six losses, having turned professional in 2005.

  • Boxer Muhammad Waseem talks about how he was forced to ‘bribe’ the Pak Boxing Federation

Boxer Muhammad Waseem talks about how he was forced to ‘bribe’ the Pak Boxing Federation

Pakistan Professional Boxer Muhammad Waseem has made a shocking revelation about how he was forced to pay a bribe to the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF).

In an interview with Daily Scoop TV, Waseem talked about the tournaments he has won and about where he did his training. He also revealed that he was forced to sign an agreement with the federation’s president in order to get the nod for his contract with Korean Promoter Andy Kim.

As per the deal, 20 percent of whatever money Waseem earned, from prize money, monthly allowance or anything else, went to the federation.

“Fraud and deception are commonplace in all facets of life in Pakistan,” said Waseem. “When I found the Korean Promoter, he [Andy Kim] told me that he would be happy to sign contract with me and help me become a professional boxer. But he said that he wanted to have a chat first with the President of Pakistan Boxing Federation and only then could he share the contract with me.”

“When I approached the federation’s president, he asked me to sign a contract with him as well. I didn’t have any other option but to accept. I could not say no to him because then it was likely that my talent would also go to waste. So, I agreed to it and they even took my thumb impression. It happened here in Karachi,” he added.

Waseem, who recently won the World Boxing Council (WBC) silver flyweight title for a second time, also lamented the lack of support for local boxers in Pakistan.

“Unfortunately, in Pakistan not much attention is paid to sports other than cricket. I have reached a point in my career, thanks to Allah Almighty, where I don’t need any help or sponsorship from anyone in Pakistan,” he said. “But there are so many fighters of Pakistan, from Lyari, Quetta and elsewhere, whose talents have gone to waste. They didn’t get an opportunity like I did. If they had gotten similar opportunities, they would have been giving interviews now as well.”

The boxer also urged parents to allow their children to play and participate in different games. He said that they take sports as a non-serious thing but they should also let their children play sports. He said this is the reason why Pakistan is behind in sports.

It is pertinent to mention here that Waseem has 12 wins in his professional boxing career, eight through knock-outs, and only one defeat.

Celebrities like Fakhr-e-Alam and director Nabeel Qureshi called out the boxing federation while Alam urged the authorities to take notice of this fraud.
