Sunidi Chauhan is super impressed by THIS Coke Studio Pakistan video

Bollywood’s powerhouse playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan has recently been in the news for her appreciation of the Pakistani music industry.
Recently Chauhan appeared on Raj Shamani’s channel podcast, where she highly praised the Pakistani music industry.

“You know, I work with a lot of Pakistanis, they are brilliant and why do I call them Pakistanis, I mean we are the same, we speak the same language, we look like each other, our food and culture are similar. I believe that we are all the same people since I make a lot of Pakistani friends when I travel to the US and the UK. Pakistan’s music got popular because the country has a big music industry and people make music for fun. They have a large and devoted following of artists. Their passion for music is the reason they are loved here in India as well.”

Currently, I’m stunned by a Coke Studio song Turri Jandi by Hassan Raheem and Shazia Mansoor, who have sung Chandni Ratain and many other songs, she is a big singer. After seeing Turi Jandi, you’ll be thinking, how did they make it? The way they made the video, it’s unbelievable. The song itself is good, but the video made it better. It’s really lovely,” Chauhan added.
Sunidhi Chauhan has produced hits such as Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi, Mehboob Mere, Dhoom Machale, and Beedi.

India agrees with Pakistan: Pasoori remake is terrible

These last two days will probably go down in history as the only time Pakistan and India combined forces to take on the urgent matter of Bollywood taking up classics and destroying them.

On Monday, T-Series released their own version of Coke Studio’s massive global hit ‘Pasoori’, giving credit solely to Ali Sethi, excluding Shae Gill and Xulfi even though they had an equal part to play in making the song what it is today.

The new version is sung by Arijit Singh, and even though for Pakistanis it’s like kisi ne dil par pathar mara hai, across the border the verdict has been announced: they can’t feel the new version either.

Jo bacha ab Pakistan Studies agay ja kar parhay ga, it wasn’t peace talks or Fawad Khan’s smolder that got India and Pakistan to unite, it was the utterly incompetent T-Series.

It’s confusing for us as well

Mubarakien maybe Pasoori can be called the song that finally united India and Pakistan together.

Is Shae Gill planning on acting in Pakistani dramas?

Shae Gill became the breakout star of 2022 after Pasoori, her debut duo with Ali Sethi on Coke Studio, dazzled listeners across the globe. She is now singing at international concerts and has become an Equal Ambassador for Spotify.

So what’s next for the singing sensation? We have seen Pakistani singers making their way to the big screen or television, like Atif Aslam, who had starred in the film ‘Bol’ and then ‘Sang-e-Mah’. Will Gill be following in on their footsteps?

In an interview with Aamna Haider Isani, Gill revealed that she did receive offers to act in dramas and play the role of asinger, but she rejected it.

“If the script would have been nice then I would have been ok..” she admitted.

Later on in the interview, Gill agreed that a lot of Pakistani singers have decided to perform as actors, but she will only do so if she finds a good script:

“My generation doesn’t really watch dramas all that much. We do, but very few. I’ve seen Udaari, I’ve seen Humsafar, a little bit of Bhaagi…they were outstanding..But if a good script comes along, then I could try.”

Pasoori’: What do the lyrics of the Coke Studio song mean?

If there’s one thing you need to see on the internet, it’s Coke Studio’s season 14’s song ‘Pasoori’. The song has over 113 million views on YouTube since its release three months ago and is playing on the radio everywhere, from the United Arab Emirates to Canada. All seem fully captivated by song sung by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill.

Before we dwell on the magical journey of the Punjabi lyrical composition, let’s first understand what the word ‘pasoori’ means.

Pasoori’ is a Punjabi word loosely translated in two ways in Urdu as ‘kashmakash‘ and ‘jaldbazi/teezi’ meaning difficulty/conflict and impatience/hasty.

Punjabi speakers casually use this word as “Enu bari pasoori pai hoi ay [This person is facing some difficult situation or this person is very impatient]”

Majestic words written by Ali Sethi and Fazal Abbas, definitely have taken everyone on a listening spree. ‘Pasoori’ turns all angst into art, with its lyrics signifying the need to celebrate artistic self-expression.

Here is what the lyrics of Pasoori mean.

    [Verse 1: Ali Sethi]
    Agg lavan majboori nu
    Set fire to your worries

    Aan jaan di pasoori nu
    To waiting and to hurries

    Zehar bane haan teri
    If your love is poison

    Pee jaavan main poori nu
I will drink it in a flurry

    Aana si o nai aaya
He said he’d come, he never did

    Dil baang baang mera takraya
    My heart lurched and slid

    Kaga bol ke dus jaavein
Let the crow tell me why

    Paavan gheyo dee choori nu
    And feast on sweet supply

    [Pre-Chorus: Ali Sethi]
Raawaan ch baawan ch o nu lukawaan

I will hide him and bide him in loving embraces

    Koi mainu naa roke
    No one makes me stop

    [Chorus: Ali Sethi]
Mere dhol judaiyaan di, tenu khabar kivein hove

My love how can you know what happens when we part

Aa jaave dil tera, poora vi na hove
I hope you fall in love, I hope it breaks your heart

Haan baniyan banaiyaan di, gal baat kivein hove
    How will the willing, communicate

Aa jaave dil tera, poora vi na hove
I hope you fall in love, I hope it breaks your heart

    [Verse 2: Shae Gill]
    Bhul gayi majboori nu

    I forgot about my chains

    Duniya di dastoori nu
    and people refrain

    Saath tera hai bathera
    You are enough for me

    Poora kar zaroori nu
    Fulfil my destiny

    Aana si o nai aaya
He said he will come but he never did

    Raasta na dikhlaaya
I could not see the way was hidden

    Dil humara de sahara
    My heart gives solace

    Khaahishaat adhoori nu
    to wishes unfulfilled

    [Pre-Chorus: Shae Gill]
Waari main jaavan, main tenu bulavaan

I dote on you, I call out you name

    Gal saari taan hove
Let’s have it out, for shame

    [Chorus: Shae Gill]
Mere dhol judaiyaan di, tenu khabar kivein hove

My love, how can you know what happens when we part

Aa jaave dil tera, poora vi na hove
I hope you fall in love, I hope it breaks your heart

Haan baniyan banaiyaan di, gal baat kivein hove
    How will the willing communicate?

Aa jaave dil tera, poora vi na hove
I hope you fall in love, I hope it breaks your heart

[Bridge: Shae Gill & Ali Sethi]
Mere dhol judaiyaan di, sardaari na hove

My love, don’t let this distance reign

    Mere dhol judaiyaan di
My love, what of this distance

    Ahhhhaaaaaaa

Mere dhol judaiyaan di, sardaari na hove
My love, don’t let this distance reign

Dildaaran di, sab yaaaran di, aazaari na hove
Don’t let these lovers be in pain

Dildaaran di, sab yaaaran di, aazaari na hove
Don’t let these lovers be in pain

    Aa chalein le ke tujhe
    Come let’s go away

    Hai jahaan silsilay
    where all the lovers meet

Tu hai wahi, hai teri kami
You are the one, it’s you I need

Bana de, saza de, panah de hume
Give me life, give me love, take me in your arms

Bana de, saza de, panah de hume
Give me life, give me love, take me in your arms

    Agg lavan majboori nu
    Set fire to your worries

    Aan jaan di pasoori nu
    To waiting and to hurries

    Zehar bane haan teri
    If your love is poison

    Pee jaavan main poori nu
I will drink it in a flurry

[Chorus: Ali Sethi & Shae Gill]
Mere dhol judaiyaan di, tenu khabar kivein hove

My love, how can you know what happens when we part

Aa jaave dil tera, poora vi na hove
I hope you fall in love, I hope it breaks your heart

Haan baniyan banaiyaan di, gal baat kivein hove
    How will the willing communicate

Aa jaave dil tera, poora vi na hove
I hope you fall in love, I hope it breaks your heart

[Outro: Shae Gill & Ali Sethi]
    Poora vi na hove

I hope it breaks your heart

    Poora vi na hove
I hope it breaks your heart
