Wedding festivities of Minal Khan and Ahsan Mohsin Ikram have officially begun. Pictures and videos from their dholki are circulating on social media. The dynamic duo can be seen in a very happy mode.
The lovebirds, who announced their engagement earlier this year, are tying the knot this week on September 10.
Turning to Instagram, Ahsan and Minal shared the the pictures and videos of the event.
Celebrity couple Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain on Sunday announced that they are expecting their bundle of joythis July.
Sharing beautiful pictures from Iqra’s godh bharai (baby shower) the couple shared the news with their fans and followers and asked them to pray for them.
For the event, Iqra chose a gorgeous purple and orange outfit by Fahad Hussayn and the designer has revealed that the dupatta had a special message on it for the mother-to-be. As per details, 100 special messages and prayers in Urdu have been crafted on the embellished dupatta with a floral design.
In a conversation with Dawn Images, Hussayn recalled Aziz reaching out to him when she was planning her godh bharai.
“I loved that she was having a godh bharai rather than a westernised bridal shower,” said the designer. “She told me that she wanted to wear something that she could pass on to her child and we started working on a concept. I asked her to come up with a list of 100 duas, which she did with the help of Yasir and her mother.”
Hussayn then designed 100 different flowers and the messages were embroidered around them.
“[The duas are] all the wishes she has for her child. If it’s a girl, she wants to pass this dupatta on to her and if it’s a son, then to his wife,” shared Hussayn adding that the list includes advice like “ilm sub say bari daulat hai” (knowledge is the greatest wealth) and “logon ke saath bhalai karo gay toh log bhi tumharay saath bhalai karein gay” (be kind to others and they will be kind to you).
The organza dupatta was paired with a simple peshwas and gharara in chiffon worked with sacha gota.
Hussayn also shared that Iqra allowed him to decid the colour himself.
Iqra was recently featured in Hussayn’s fashion music video Mera Jora that was released earlier this year. Incidentally, the video was filmed shortly after Aziz discovered that she was expecting.
“I am very happy for her. She’s an extremely genuine person and this is a very happy time for her. She may be at the peak of her career but she’s also prioritising her family life,” said the designer. “I think more than anything else, the coronavirus has made us all realise the importance of being surrounded by family.”
Riz Ahmed may have lost the Oscar Award for Best Actor to Anthony Hopkins but he walked away with the best red carpet appearance when he took a moment to fix his wife Fatima Farheen Mirza’s hair. Ahmed had revealed in January that he had tied the knot in secret a few months back.
In a video that went viral on social media, the couple can be seen walking in together and as the photographers clicked their pictures, Riz paused for a moment to make sure his wife’s hair looked perfect. Ahmed’s act won the hearts of audiences across the world and they started hailing the couple as “relationship goals”.
The British-Pakistani actor was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for his role of a drummer who loses his hearing in the Sound of Metal.
In addition to winning hearts with his romantic gesture on the red carpet, Ahmed also made history at this year’s Oscars as the first Muslim nominee in the Best Actor category. He was up against Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Sir Anthony Hopkins for The Father, Gary Oldman for Mank, and Steven Yeun for Minari. Hopkins eventually took home the award.
Meanwhile, Sound of Metal bagged two awards for Best Film Editing and Best Sound.
The 93rd Academy Awards were held on April 25, (April 26 PST) in Los Angeles at multiple locations: Dolby Theatre, where it has been traditionally hosted since 2001, and Union Station. Only the nominees, their guests and the ceremony’s presenters were allowed inside the hall due to coronavirus restrictions.
The event began with a movie-style opening credits sequence, as Regina King strode into the venue clutching a gold statuette.
“Live TV, here we go. Welcome to the 93rd Oscars!” she said. “And, yes, we are doing it maskless… people have been vaxxed, tested, re-tested, socially distanced.”
This year’s Oscars arrived at their Union Station venue two months late due to the pandemic — organisers have said it would have been “impossible” without the delay.
Before the show, stars paused briefly for pictures and socially distanced interviews on what organisers called a “teeny-tiny red carpet.”
An honourary award for the Motion Picture and Television Fund, which has supported struggling actors and crew particularly during the pandemic, was awarded at the Oscars’ traditional Hollywood theater base. Black entertainment mogul Tyler Perry was also honored.
But the bulk of the awards were handed out at the 1930s-built Union Station, chosen for its grand scale and outdoor courtyards, where white tents sheltering everything from Covid testing booths to catering were installed.
“We’re here, isn’t it crazy?” said Ahmed. “Human beings in the flesh!”
While The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences remembered late actors Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, Chadwick Boseman and other stars in the 93rd Academy Awards.
The late stars were honoured for their services to the cinema industry in the ‘In Memoriam’ sequence during the award show with Stevie Wonder’s song ‘As’ in the background.
Netizens and animal rights activists have protested vehemently after a video of the couple’s photoshoot emerged on social media. As per details, the photo of the shoot was posted on Studio Afzl’s — a Lahore-based photography studio that does bridal photoshoots and covers weddings — Instagram account.
In one picture, the couple can be seen holding hands over the cub while in another, the lion cub was lying looking miserable on the stage. The hashtag #SherdiRani was also used in the pictures with the cub to give an emphasis on its presence.
While, the issue was first highlighted by JFK Animal Rescue and Shelter, it later got traction after it was shared on Twitter by ‘Save the Wild’: a group that is fighting to “save Pakistan’s wildlife from the threats of hunting, loss of habitat and pesticides”.
Following the tweet, other Twitter users also urged authorities to take action against the studio for mistreating the cub.
What’s wrong with people, a sedated Lion Cub as “prop” the couple starting a new life & the studio who did that should be ashamed, it’s about time @GovtofPunjabPK must rethink their “captive breeding” policy, from political rallies to wedding shoots, animals as Props, it’s sick
I hope they wake up from their slumber, the only positive I can take out of this whole incident is the public outcry. I hope the cub is rescued and rehabilitated into a more suitable environment.
