    Expired juice allegedly caused food poisoning, kills four family members

    Four members of the same family were found dead in a car parked on the motorway near Bhera staypoint in Sargodha on Friday. A fifth person in the car, the driver, was taken to the hospital unconscious.

    After noting that the car was parked on the highway for a long time, highway police called Rescue 1122, broke the glass windows of the car and pulled out the bodies, rescue officials confirmed.

    Rescue authorities informed Geo News that the bodies of a man, two women and a child have been recovered from the car. The driver was shifted to the hospital in a state of unconsciousness.

    However, Express Tribune reported that the National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) North Zone found the car’s five occupants in a semi-conscious state and shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) in Bhera for urgent medical treatment.

    Despite the hospital staff’s efforts, all succumbed to the suspected poisoning. They have been identified as Romila 60, Mahwish 30, Samar 28, and four-year-old Aun.

    The family lived on McLeod Road in Lahore.

    Initial investigation suggests that food poisoning may have caused the deaths. Two boxes of juice have been found in the vehicle, one of which was expired, says the police. The actual cause of death will only be known only after the autopsy, the police asserted.

    A Jirga in the Manghopir area of Karachi ordered the killing of a young couple who married of their own free will, ARY News has said.

    Police sources told ARY News that the couple- identified as Saira (20) and Adil (22)- was found dead inside their home in Manghopir on Monday, and the parents of both the husband and wife gave their consent to the murder.

    “Initially, both parties refused to register the murder case,” informed the police.

    The woman identified as Saira. Her mother and maternal aunt played a key role in the dual murder.

    “The slain woman’s mother called the killers to the home. They entered the house and opened fire and also used knives in the gruesome dual murder crime,” says the police sources.

    Four 30-bore spent bullets, two coins and other things were recovered from the crime scene.

    However, Dawn reported that the victims were residents of Husain D’Silva Town in North Nazimabad. After tying the knot on their free will, they went into hiding and started living in Manghopir because the girl’s parents were against their marriage.

    Area SHO Bashir Ahmed said that it appeared that her relatives traced the couple.

    Initial investigations suggest that the couple originally hailed from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the SHO revealed.

    The bodies were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil medical and legal formalities.

    A 15-day-old ailing girl was buried alive by her father in Naushahro Feroze because he had no money for her treatment.

    The incident took place in the Tharu Shah area of Naushahro Feroze , where a father killed the 15-day-old girl by burying her alive.

    He has been arrested, and a case was registered against him, as per the police.

    The police informed The News that the girl’s body was exhumed on the father’s identification.

    The girl has been suffering from anaemia since birth, and the doctors had advised her to take her to Hyderabad.

    The girl’s father, in his statement, said that they did not have enough money to treat the girl in Hyderabad.

    The bodies of a six-year-old girl and her two-year-old brother were recovered, along with their mother’s, from a drain near their home in Mauripur, Karachi.

    The children were subjected to sexual assault before being killed, an investigation into the matter has revealed.

    The bodies of the missing 25-year-old woman, her six-year-old daughter and two-year-old son were found in a drain close to their home in Sher Muhammad Village, Mauripur, on Saturday, June 29.

    The father of the children, the complainant, told the police that his wife and two children went out of the home to meet Mehran Bibi for ‘religious and spiritual treatment’ on June 28 but disappeared for more than 24 hours and were found dead inside a drain.

    Dawn’s Imtiaz Ali reported that Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed, after a post-mortem examination, ‘confirmed’ that both the minor girl and her brother were raped, adding that the girl was subjected to a ‘brutal’ sexual assault.

    She also asserted that they had not ruled out the possibility of the mother being raped till the receipt of chemical reports, etc.

    The police surgeon also ensured that it was not a natural death, but the exact cause of death had been reserved till receipt of reports.

    However, DIG South Syed Asad Raza told Dawn that the case had been registered even though it appeared that the woman’s husband was not ‘interested’ in pursuing the murder case of his wife and children seriously.

    He seemed ‘aware’ of something but was hiding it from the investigators. Thus, the police were interrogating him, his cousin and other relatives to get clues about the real culprits but so far, no one has been formally arrested.

    Five people allegedly gouged out the eyes of a man during a brutal assault at a village near Bahawalpur on Monday.

    The man was identified as Sufian.

    The suspects assaulted Sufian on charges of stealing a donkey cart, allegedly gouging out his eyes.

    Sufian has completely lost vision in one eye, while the other eye has also sustained serious damage. The marks of the beating are visible on his body.

    A police team was dispatched to the scene to arrest the culprits, while the victim was admitted to the emergency ward of Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital (BVH).

    A local police spokesman stated that the motive behind the gruesome crime was a land dispute. He also confirmed that one suspect, Iqrar Hussain, has been arrested.

    Boy, 14, stabs man to death over ‘sectarian argument’ in Gujrat

    A 14-year-old boy in Gujrat reportedly murdered a middle-aged man following an argument over a sectarian issue at Chak Chohdo village on Sunday.

    Teenager Rehan, son of the Imam of the village mosque, allegedly had a brief altercation over a sectarian issue with a fellow resident, Syed Nazeer Hussain Shah.

    As per a report filed by Dawn, the boy repeatedly stabbed the victim with a knife and fled the scene. The injured man was shifted to the Kunjah Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in a critical condition, where he later succumbed to his wounds.

    Doctors handed over the body to the victim’s family after the autopsy.

    A team from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) also collected evidence from the crime scene. A case has been registered against three suspects – Rehan, his uncle and father- on the complaint of Shabeer Hussain Shah, the brother of the deceased.

    Locals and the police say that the prime suspect seems to be a religious fanatic.

    Raids are being conducted to arrest the suspects. However, the crime charges would only be ascertained after an interrogation.
    Incidents of religious fanaticism have gained momentum over the past few months, with a number of incidents of mob lynching and harassment of minorities.

    A 17-year-old boy, Samad, was shot dead by a security guard in North Karachi for not picking up waste.

    A security guard and a boy had an argument over picking up garbage, after which the guard got angry and shot the boy in the stomach. The injured child was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical assistance, where he succumbed to his injuries and died, as per the initial report. However, the accused guard escaped after the incident.

    Police say that there was an argument between the guard and the child about picking up garbage, during which the guard of the private security company opened fire and fled.

    The police told Geo News that the security guard has been identified as Ramzan, and they are looking for him.

    Earlier this week, in Sakhi Hasan Sarina mobile market in Karachi, a security guard shot and killed a TikToker for making a video about a match.

    A prisoner in Adiala jail has allegedly been gang-raped by fellow inmates, Geo’s Shabbir Ahmad Dar has reported.

    The victim told the police that he was gang raped on May 18 at 11 o’clock in the night when two inmates forced themselves upon him together.

    The police says a case has been registered at the Sadar Baruni police station on the complaint of the victim.

    Kidnapped girl found from sister’s home in Kotri

    Local police have resolved the mysterious disappearance of an 8th grade student from Kotri area. The missing girl, Karishma Magsi, was recovered from her sister’s house.

    News of the girl’s disappearance went viral on social media.

    Express Tribune reported that Karishma’s father Himmat Ali Magsi initially lodged a case of Karishma’s abduction against his three nephews including Naik Mohammad Magsi, Amir Magsi, and Munir Ahmed Soomro in Kotri police station.

    The police reported that Karishma was recovered from her elder sister’s house living in Daur. The raid happened 12 days after the incident. Later, she was produced in the court.

    The police revealed that the girl’s father created the hoax of her kidnapping and registered a case against the nephews because of his personal enmity with them over property and other domestic issues.

    SHO Khair Muhammad Mallah said that action would be taken against Himmat Ali Magsi for lodging a false case.

    However, Karishma’s parents along with their relatives, protested in front of Kotri Press Club.

    They alleged that the abductors left the child at her elder sister’s house as soon as the case was registered. They also accused the police of pressurising and harassing them.

    They demanded that the Chief Minister and IG Sindh take notice of the unfair attitude of the police and provide justice.

    Man assaults sister-in-law, nieces with shovel

    A Rawalpindi native, identified as Riaz Shah tortured his widow sister-in-law and her daughters along with other accomplices by attacking them with shovels. The incident occured in Sher Zaman Colony of the Garrison City.

    SSP Operations Kamran Asghar has that the suspect Riaz Shah is the brother-in-law of the victim. A house dispute erupted between the two parties when the suspect asked for a share while the house is in the name of the late husband of the victim, reports Geo News.

    Riaz Shah has been arrested and a case has been registered.

    Taking notice of the incident, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has asked for immediate action against the accused. While seeking a report from police authorities, she has said that violence against women is not going to be tolerated.

    SSP Operations Kamran Asghar and other police officers also visited the house of the victim’s family and inquired about their well-being. They sought information about the incident and assured them of cooperation.
