    Transnational celebrities mourn the death of legendary Dilip Kumar

    The legendary actor Dilip Kumar passed away yesterday after a prolonged illness at the age of 98 and celebrities from India and Pakistan are mourning the death of the veteran actor.

    Pakistani celebrities, including Shan Shahid, Adnan Siddiqui, Usman Mukhtar, Faysal Quraishi, Maya Ali and others took to social media to express their grief on the demise of the Mughal-e-Azam actor. While Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and many others paid rich tributes to the actor and they also shared their grievances on social media.

    Shahid Afridi, Babar Azam saddened by the demise of Dilip Kumar

    Pakistani veteran cricketer Shahid Afridi and the current captain of Pakistan’s cricket team Babar Azam are saddened by the demise of the legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar.

    “Indeed to Allah we belong and to Allah we shall return. A huge loss for Yousuf Khan sahib’s fans from KPK to Mumbai and across the globe. He lives on in our hearts. Deepest condolences to Saira Banu Sahiba”, wrote Afridi while sharing his thoughts on social media.

    Azam also took to social media and wrote: “A legend who will be remembered forever and will always be an inspirational figure in the world. From Qissa Khawani Bazar Peshawar, Pakistan to Mumbai, India – your fragrance has surrounded everyone. You will be missed, sir. A huge loss indeed.”

    Social media is flooded with tributes from every corner of the subcontinent for the legendary actor’s demise.

    Shoaib Akhtar, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez also paid tributes to “the quintessential tragedy king.”

    Face of the popular music band Overload, Farhad Huamayun, passed away Tuesday morning.

    The official page of the band posted on Facebook,” The magnificent Farhad Humayun left us for the stars this morning. Stoic in the face of challenges, uncompromising in his values, generous to a fault, witty as hell! Fadi was far too ahead of his time, both in spirit and art,”

    Farhad has won multiple awards in his eighteen year career, including Lux Style Award and HUM TV award for his music.

    Farhad has also collaborated with other music icons such as Atif Aslam and Meesha Shafi. He recently shared a video of his concert on Instagram.

    Bushra Ansari grateful to those who prayed for sister Sumbul Shahid

    Veteran actor Bushra Ansari has expressed her gratitude for those who prayed for her sister Sumbul Shahid during her battle with coronavirus.

    “You all saw a few days ago I lost my sister Sumbul Shahid,” said Bushra in a video posted on Instagram. “We’re told a lot about the coronavirus. But we only realise it when our loved ones suffer from it and depart from this world.”

    “We all are grateful for the prayers you sent,” remarked Ansari.

    “There was a lot of love among us sisters,” said the actor, adding, “Sisters’ bond has another level.”

    In March 2021, Bushra and Asma Abbas had shared that Sumbul was battling coronavirus and had been put on a ventilator. Their mother had also contracted the virus at the time. They requested followers for prayers and advised them to follow safety protocols.

    Sumbul passed away after a long battle with COVID on May 6. She was last seen in drama serial Nand, which aired on ARY Digital.

    Renowned Pakistani folk singer Arif Lohar’s wife passed away in Lahore on Sunday.

    According to reports, Lohar’s wife had been down with a fever after which she was admitted to a private hospital in the city. Her condition deteriorated on Saturday and she was moved to a ventilator but soon succumbed to her illness. It has not yet been confirmed if the deceased had been diagnosed with COVID.

    She was laid to rest on Sunday in Lahore.

    Sumbul Shahid loses battle with COVID

    Veteran actor and Bushra Ansari and Asma Abbas’ elder sister Sumbul Shahid has passed away after a long battle with COVID. The actor has been on the ventilator for several days now with Bushra and Asma requesting fans and followers for prayers.

    According to reports, Shahid was admitted in a local hospital in Lahore. Further details are not known as yet.

    Sumbul was last seen in Nand in which she played Faiza Hassan and Shahroz Sabzwari’s mother.

    Asad Siddiqui took to Instagram stories to announce the demise of Sumbul Shahid. He wrote: “Zara’s Khala Sumbul Shahid passed away. Please pray for her and the family.”

    Later celebrities turned to their social media to pay tribute to the departed soul.

    Senior Indian journalist Barkha Dutt shared the pain of losing her father to COVID-19. In an emotional note on Twitter, Barkha Dutt expressed her grief of how she failed in bringing her ailing father back home safe.  

    She also acknowledged the hospital staff and everyone who tried their best to help her family in this situation. The last words of her late father rang loudly in her mind, “I’m choking, please give me treatment”

    The day her father SP Dutt, was hospitalised, both Barkha and Bahar ( sister of Barkha Dutt ) narrated the difficulties they faced, right from getting an ambulance to oxygen supply issues.

    The day she cremated her father, she said in an interview that urgent help must be sent to India for the sake of the world. She also added, “It is a calamity and a crisis of the kind that I have not seen in my adult life.”

    The second wave in India has firmly gripped the country. Thousands of families have lost their loved ones due to Covid-19. The hospitals are overwhelmed and there are no beds for patients. Shortage of oxygen has killed far more people than the virus alone.

    ” I am an upper middle class Indian. I had access to a hospital, “she said in an interview, “most people I am reporting on are dying at the gates of the hospital.”

    Pakistan Television’s first female anchor Kanwal Naseer passes way

    Pakistan Television (PTV)’s first female anchor, newscaster and announcer Kanwal Naseer has passed away at the age of 73. The departed soul was hospitalised for the past couple of days, as reported by Radio Pakistan.

    Born in 1948 in Lahore, Naseer entered media at the young age of 17 and remained associated with PTV and Radio Pakistan for over five decades. Naseer made her first announcement at the PTV on November 26, 1964. 

    Naseer has been awarded the Pride of Performance and many other national awards in recognition of her services. She was the daughter of legendary actor Mohini Hameed.

    Meanwhile, several notable personalities including Fawad Chaudhry and Humayun Saeed expressed their condolences over her death on social media.

    Haseena Moin passes away at 79

    Celebrated dramatist and playwright Haseena Moin has passed away at the age of 79, her family has confirmed. While the exact reason behind her death is still not known, the writer was a breast cancer survivor and had also penned a web-series on the topic, which is expected to release soon. Moin’s funeral prayers will be held in Karachi.

    One of Pakistan’s most renowned writers, Moin was born in 1941 in Kanpur, present-day India. She earned a Master of Arts in History from Karachi University in 1963. Over a career spanning more than 40 years, Moin delivered a plethora of hits.

    In 1987, she was awarded the Pride of Performance award. Some of her most notable works include Tanhaiyaan, Anakhi and Dhoop Kinare. She also penned dialogues for the Bollywood film Heena which featured Zeba Bakhtiar and the late Rishi Kapoor.

    Moin was last seen at Karachi Art Council’s 23rd March celebrations. She also got vaccinated for the novel coronavirus just a few days before her death.

    Moin’s death has left fans shattered, who took to social media to express their grief.
