A staff member of a famous Karachi based bakery chain, Delizia, refused the request of a customer to write ‘Merry Christmas’ on a cake.

An uproar was seen on the Facebook post in which netizens expressed their disappointment and anger.

The staff made a similar excuse at that time as well that it was not company instructions. It was reported on another Facebook page, Karachi Food Diary.

The representative of the company stated in the previous incident that the staff responsible was dismissed and the same might to happen in the recent matter.

Rights activists call the agreement between Humayun Khan and Mirza Akhtar Ali Advocate preposterous.

As per reports, Khan’s dogs attacked the lawyer when he was out on a morning walk. The CCTV footage of the incident showed the two dogs attacking the Mirza Akhtar as he helplessly attempted to defend himself.

Mirza Akhtar “agreed for the sake of Allah [to] forgive Humayun Khan”, reads the agreement between the two parties.

“The two dogs involved in the incident will be euthanised/put down by a veterinarian immediately. Any other such dogs that Humayun Khan has, he shall give them away,” states one of the conditions of the agreement.

The agreement between the two parties further states that Humayun will tender an “unconditional apology” to Mirza Akhtar for the “hurt and injury caused to him”.

Another condition states that the dog owner will register any other dogs with the Clifton Cantonment Board (CBC) and not allow them to come on the street unless they are with a “properly trained handler.”

The agreement concludes on a clause that Humayun will donate Rs1 million to a local animal shelter, ACF Animal Rescue.

The case was registered at the Darakhshan police station and Humayun was granted a bail before arrest while his employess were in police custody.

As per reports,  at least nine police officials including a station house officer (SHO) were suspended for illegally arresting employees of the restaurant in DHA after they refused to give “free burgers” to the cops.

A few days before the incident, some police officers went to the eatery ‘Johnny and Jugnu’ located in DHA Phase-6 and tried to get burgers for free.

The cops left after they were refused by the staff and returned later on Friday night only to arrest the staff members of the restaurant for reasons that the outlet claimed as “baseless and unjust”.

The Punjab police chief also directed the Lahore CCPO to take strict departmental and legal action against the officials involved in the incident without any delay, according to a statement.

Yesterday night, around 1am our kitchen teams were taken into custody by the Police.”

The statement of the restaurant added, “19 of our innocent crew members were kept locked up at the [police] station for the entire night, without any basis, as per orders from their SHO.”

  • Nearly 100,000 trees cut down in Multan to pave way for DHA?

Nearly 100,000 trees cut down in Multan to pave way for DHA?

Netizens are fuming ever since it was claimed that over 90,000 trees were cut down in the City of Saints to pave way for Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Multan.

However, it has emerged that the trees were chopped and mango orchards destroyed but not for the military-run locality.

According to a report by BBC Urdu, the multiple videos doing the rounds on social media were recorded last year when culling actually took place. It was carried out by the City Housing Society near Bosan Road among other locations.

Another media outlet reported that the Mango Growers Cooperative Society had also then demanded a complete ban on mango orchard cutting as the growers were perturbed by the rapid annexation of thousands of acres of mango plantation in the district.

But with the videos going viral over the internet with the false claim, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) among others, including activists and senior journalists, has expressed grave concern over reports of denuding of mango orchards and conversion of them into an urban property over the past years by DHA, and sought a transparent inquiry into the matter.

“Reckless conversion of mango orchards and farmlands into urban property will have a disastrous impact on agriculture, food security and the environment,” said PPP secretary general and former senator Farhatullah Khan Babar in a statement.

“Food security is far more important than building housing authorities,” Babar said while calling for a transparent inquiry into these reports.

  • ‘Stop killing dogs,’ says Hania Aamir after authorities allegedly shoot puppy

A resident of Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Karachi Mehak Taherani has accused security officials of the private housing society of shooting dead her pet dog outside her house.

“My puppy was shot dead by DHA outside my house,” said Mehak on Instagram. “Her name was Kobe.”

Sharing details of the incident, Mehak, in a video, said: “My six-month-old dog was shot dead by DHA [police]. She was out doing her business in the morning [when she was shot] even though the guards of my street told the police that this is a house pet. Yet they shot her. Not once, but three times.”

“I don’t understand why this happened or what she did to deserve such a thing,” said a visibly distressed Mehak in the video.

Mehak further said that she will be filling a case against the police of the private housing authority, adding that she does not know how far this case will go.

“The whole street knew her,” shared Mehak. “She slept right outside our house in a dog bed and was extremely friendly with everyone who came by.”

“It is not okay that any agency of anywhere gets to get away with this,” remarked the resident. “I am shocked at the inhumanity in our country and its people. They [dogs] are scared of you, you do not need to feel threatened.”

“What if he was a German Shepherd? Would it have been shot?,” questioned Mehak. “Probably not.”

Soon after the video started doing the rounds on social media, several celebrities including Hania Aamir and Yasir Hussain condemned the brutal killing of the dog.

Sharing Mehak’s video, Hania said: “She’s right. If it was a pure bred dog this would have never happened.”

“Stop killing stray dogs,” she asserted.

Meanwhile, several journalists and social media users also condemned the incident and urged authorities to take notice.

Last week, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) imposed a complete ban on shooting stray dogs in the city.

  • ‘Intoxicated’ couple who assaulted cops in Lahore identified

Police have identified a couple, who misbehaved with the Lahore police officials on Sunday, and efforts are underway to arrest the suspects.

The man has been identified as Sher Khan, a resident of Kharian, Gujrat, while the woman has been identified as Kinza, according to ARY News. However, no arrests have been made so far, as a police team that was sent to arrest the suspects came back empty-handed after a raid at their residences.

The video of the incident had gone viral on Sunday after a woman, who looked intoxicated, started misbehaving with the police officers after they stopped her from allegedly consuming alcohol in public. The woman could also be seen slapping a policeman who was trying to film her actions.

The FIR of the case registered at the DHA Phase V police station stated the woman and her friend had entered into a brawl with police officers when the latter tried to stop them from consuming alcohol in public.

Authorities say the ‘intoxicated’ woman had first misbehaved with the staff of the cafe before coming on the street outside. “The guard of the restaurant stopped the woman as she was consuming alcohol in public,” a police officer was quoted by a media outlet as saying. “Both of them got into an argument after which police in the neighbourhood stopped by to clear the commotion.”

The Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) had also taken notice of the incident that occurred on Saturday night and summoned a detailed report in this regard from the Defence ASP. CCPO Sheikh had also lauded the police officers for being patient with the woman despite her attack.
