Israeli War Minister tells Netanyahu to ‘stop lying’

A member of the Israeli war cabinet, Gadi Eisenkot, has told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a meeting to “stop lying” to himself.

The Times of Israel has reported that while addressing the cabinet, Eisenkot stated, “We have to stop lying to ourselves, to show courage, and to lead to a large deal which will bring home the hostages. Your time is running out, and each day that passes endangers their lives.”

The minister’s son and nephew were both killed fighting in Gaza, leading him to believe that Israel’s leaders are lying to themselves.

However, Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant dismissed the criticism, reiterating their belief that only added military pressure will lead to such a deal.

  • Japanese princess to marry commoner boyfriend despite dispute

Japanese princess to marry commoner boyfriend despite dispute

Japan’s Princess Mako will marry a commoner, her former classmate, this month after years of controversy as she will give up her royal status, BBC News reported.

The couple is all set to tie the know on October 26.

The couple initially planned their wedding in 2018, but this was put off, reportedly after Mako’s boyfriend, Mr Komuro’s family had run into financial difficulties.

They are expected to move to the US after marriage where Mr Komuro works as a lawyer.

This excessive media coverage around the princess — whose father is Crown Prince Fumihito — and Mr Komuro’s family over the years has caused the princess to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, the Imperial Household Agency said, according to news outlet Kyodo.

Her aunt, Empress Masako, also suffered from a stress-related illness, due to intense pressure to produce a male heir. There is often a stigma around mental illnesses in Japan. The couple first met in 2012 when they were students at the International Christian University in Tokyo.

They were engaged in 2017 and were set to marry the following year. But news of Mr Komuro’s mother’s financial problems started doing the rounds; she had reportedly taken a loan from her ex-fiancé and not paid him back.

The palace denied the delay was linked to this, though Crown Prince Fumihito said it was important for the money issues to be dealt with before they got together.

Princess Mako will reportedly forego a traditional lump-sum payment of up to 150 million yen ($1.3m), which is normally gifted to a member of the royal family upon their departure from the household.

She is also expected to skip the usual rites associated with a royal family wedding. If she skips both the payment and the rites, it will make her the first female member of the Japanese royal family to do so.

Under Japanese law, female imperial family members forfeit their status upon marriage to a “commoner” although male members do not.

  • Photographers hit back after Shahveer Jafry accuses them of sharing pictures without consent

Photographers hit back after Shahveer Jafry accuses them of sharing pictures without consent

Shahveer Jafry got engaged to fashion designer Ayesha Beig on Wednesday in an intimate ceremony. After much buzz, he took to Instagram and confirmed the news himself with pictures from the event.

All seemed to be going well until the Canadian-Pakistani YouTuber accused the photographers of sharing pictures and videos from his engagement on social media without his consent.

In a story posted to his Instagram, Shahveer hit out at the photographers covering his engagement, calling them ‘vultures’. According to him, they had posted the videos and pictures without the couple’s consent.

While Shahveer later reportedly deleted his story, the photographers responded to his allegations saying that they did not upload a single picture without the bride’s consent, who had hired them. They said it was in fact the couple who posted pictures without giving due credits to the photographers.

The photographers also posted a couple of screenshots which made Ayesha’s consent evident.

“And to add up, yes we did called Ayesha twice after seeing the story and before taking any step. She didn’t pick didn’t call back then we took the step. And we were never contacted by anyone from this event for not uploading or removing any pix other than just two posts Ayesha asked.”

“Infact several guests contacted that they loved the pictures and wonder if we could send them the pictures too. We can upload those screen shots too and screen shot of our call log for calling (with time and date) Ayesha twice before we took our first step.”

Later, in an Instagram post, the studio said they were “already on” to settle at getting public apology or check from their corporate lawyer over ‘defamation’.

Shahveer and Ayesha have not yet responded to the photographers.
