    6,000 police officials to perform security duty on new year’s night in Lahore

    To maintain law and order on new year’s night and to guarantee the safety of lives and property, the Lahore Police has devised a comprehensive security strategy.

    Lahore’s Additional IG, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, said that more than 6,000 police officers and officials, including 6 SPs, 35 DSPs, 83 SHOs, 400 upper-level subordinates, members of the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, Elite Force, Anti-Rights Force, and lady police officers, would be stationed on streets, squares, and public areas.

    He declared that security would be strictly enforced. At all costs, hooliganism, aerial gunfire, fireworks, and one-wheeling would not be permitted.

    CCPO Lahore said that the respect of the citizens was above all and that anyone involved in aerial firing, mob violence, fireworks, or one-wheeling will face punishment.

    According to The News, teams from the Dolphins squad, PRU, Elite Force, and police stations, according to CCPO Lahore, will make sure that sensitive and major locations are continuously patrolled on New Year’s Eve. Additionally, security would be enhanced at the city’s entry and exit points. Police should be informed right away by those who see any suspicious people or activity.

    The Lahore Police has finalised the security measures for Youm-e-Ashur. For the 10th of Muharram, more than 10,000 police officers and security personnel, including 370 female authorities will be on duty.

    The provincial capital will host 227 majalis and 47 funeral processions. Pillion riding will be completely prohibited on the 9th (today) and 10th (tomorrow) of Muharram.

    On the paths of the major processions, it has been determined to halt mobile service at particular periods. The security of the main processions will be patrolled by more than 21 teams of Elite, 21 teams of PRU, and 26 teams of Dolphin Squad, according to The News.

    The organisers were also given instructions to make sure the code of conduct was followed in this regard.

    Using a video link, commissioners and regional police officers (RPOs) from all around Punjab gathered. The meeting was updated on the security preparations for Muharram by the additional chief secretary for the interior.

    The Regional Police Officers and Divisional Commissioners who were all present via video link gave a presentation to the audience on the security measures put in place in their respective divisions.

    Punjab Minister Raja Basharat instructed Commissioners and Regional Police Officers to personally inspect the security measures on the procession routes. He recommended adding more CCTV cameras to the procession’s established pathways.

    The provincial ministers will also visit various regions to examine the security measures, as will the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Law and Order.

    The Dolphin Squad in Lahore has sealed a local eatery in Bahria Town Lahore, near the ‘Eiffel Tower parking’ when a family eating there found a dead rat inside a shawarma sandwich.

    Saleh Saleem posted about the horrific incident on Facebook, stating that his 10-year-old niece was about to eat the Middle Eastern dish but before taking a bite, found the rat in her meal. “These people are playing with the lives of people and also have the audacity to argue about it,” Saleh said in his post.

    Saleh also stated that the dolphin squad sealed the restaurant and a ‘key witness’ helped to get the restaurant sealed.
