  • Ansar Abbasi rejects Domestic Violence Bill and Twitter is angry

    Senate passed two key government bills related to human rights last month, which include the Domestic Violence (Prevention and Protection) Bill 2021 and the Islamabad Capital Territory Senior Citizens Bill 2021.

    Both the bills were opposed by Mushtaq Ahmed from Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Atta-ur-Rehman from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F), and Rana Maqbool from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) .

    Analyst Ansar Abbasi took to his Twitter account to oppose the bill using the hashtag “We_Reject_Domestic_Violence_Bill_2021”.

  • Nisha Rawal accuses star husband Karan Mehra of domestic violence

    Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai fame Karan Mehra was arrested earlier this week over the allegations of physically abusing his wife Nisha Rawal, India Today has reported. The actor was later released from the Jail.

    Nisha, in her interaction with the Indian media accused husband of having an extramarital affair and also alleged him of domestic violence adding, “We have been together for 14 years. Many things happened in these years but no one came to know about anything.”

    “Karan has been having an affair with another girl, which I didn’t know about. When I came to know about it, he accepted that he has another girl in his life. I asked if he has physical relation, if it’s a serious affair or an emotional one. He said ‘I love that girl. I have been having physical affair with her”, added Nisha.

    Nisha’s friend Rohit Verma shared pictures of her head injury on Instagram along with a long note, while extending his support for Nisha.

    Meanwhile, reacting to the allegations made by wife Nisha, Karan said, “All these allegations are bound to come up and I will be linked with many people. These stories are baseless. I haven’t cheated on her and I am not having an extramarital affair,” in his statement to Hindustan Times.

    The actor added: “Nisha has mood swings and violent anger streak. She would throw stuff and hit herself and others. Five-six years ago, she was diagnosed as bipolar. People, including our friends and relatives, have seen her behaviour in public and I couldn’t take it anymore.

    Additional Director General (ADG) of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, Purushottam Sharma, has been suspended after a video of him beating his wife went viral on social media.

    According to reports, Sharma’s wife had caught him with another woman.

    Speaking to media, Sharma said they have been married for 32 years. “In 2008, she had complained against me. But the point is, since 2008 she has been living in my house, enjoying all facilities and travelling abroad on my expenses.” 

    “If my nature is abusive then she should’ve complained earlier. This is a family dispute, not a crime. I am neither a violent person nor a criminal. It is unfortunate that I have to go through this. My wife stalks me and has put cameras in the house.”
