  • Sadaf Kanwal thinks Mansha Pasha should go home

Don’t know why but Sadaf Kanwal appears to hate Mansha Pasha.

On a recent appearance on the talk show BOL Nights with Ahsan Khan, when the host Ahsan Khan asked Sadaf to name one person who shouldn’t be in the industry, Sadaf responded Mansha Pasha.

When Ahsan expressed his shock and asked why, Sadaf replied, “Bas aisay hee.”

Azfar then remarked that this is the rapid-fire segment and Ahsan is trying to make it into “an elaborated fire.”

Ahsan then commented that Mansha is a very good actress. To this Sadaf responded, “I know, I’m also a very good actress.”

Mansha being Mansha couldn’t resist hitting back at Sadaf.

This is not the first time the two have feuded publically.

Late last year, Mansha had taken to Twitter to comment that the women in the industry “need to step up and learn to speak better.” In case you didn’t know, Mansha was referring to Hira Mani (“From stole my husband from my best friend and cheated on my fiancee”), Sadaf Kanwal (“Jab Me Too hota hai ussi waqt kiyon nahi boltein”) and Momina Mustehsan (“Quotes from Uncle Ben and your friendly neighbourhood spider-man”).

Sadaf hit back at Mansha by taking a dig at Pasha’s dressing style.

In response to Sadaf, Mansha posted the following tweet:

These two really need to sort out whatever issues they have.

Model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak also jumped to Mansha’s defence and advised Sadaf to leave her “personal grudges and stupidity home.”

Meanwhile, in the same episode, Azfar Rehman said that Yasir Hussain is an overrated actor.

Time, these talk shows come up with better questions.

Shaniera Akram urges people to not visit Clifton Beach

Shaniera Akram may have moved to Pakistan after she married cricket legend Wasim Akram, but she’s made a strong mark in the country, being a more responsible citizen than any of us. Shaniera is often seen working towards social causes be it for children, animals or for the environment. Shaniera has now used her voice to highlight the terrible condition of Karachi’s Clifton Beach.

Taking to social media, Shaniera posted several pictures and videos of the beach littered with medical waste, syringes, and vials of blood, calling on authorities to close down the beach for the public until it is safe.

“I have walked on Clifton beach every day for the last 4 years and I have never been scared until today. This beach needs to be shut down now,” Shaniera asserted.

Shaniera urged Karachiites to abstain from visiting and cleaning the beach since it is hazardous for the people.

Following Shaniera’s protest and outrage on Twitter, the Sindh Police took to social media to announce that the police have cordoned off the affected area and imposed Section 144.

  • Nathiagali Weekend: Is Samundar Lake worth the hype?

Nathiagali Weekend: Is Samundar Lake worth the hype?

Breathtaking is what everyone is calling the new, open to the public, Samandar Lake. So when the Minai family decided to take a weekend trip from Islamabad to see the now-famous lake, they planned their day around it.

The Minai family at Gali’s End, Nathiagali

They stayed at Gali’s End, a renowned retreat at the end of Nathiagali. A trek up to the cottages, the view was the definition of breathtaking.

Enjoying a cup of tea on a perfect summer day

The rooms were decent, the view gorgeous. It was almost like living in a cottage in a European country and since it was a trek up, it is secluded from the rest of the small city. If anyone needs a break, its the place to go so you can get away from the world. The only con was that the bathrooms were older and had not been renovated.

View from a room in Gali’s End

A perfectly cloudy day, they took the 45 minute drive down to Barra Gali. Google Maps wasn’t as effective as expected, and they got lost, stumbling upon a beautiful stream to dip your feet in.

They asked the locals around, where is this Samundar Katha lake? Don’t go there, said the locals. Your car won’t be able to take the drive down and it’s seriously not worth it. Not worth it? PTI Official’s pictures say otherwise.

Ignoring their advice, they took their car down to the lake car park area where they were told they had to walk the rest of the way or take a Mehran to the lake. The locals were right. There wasn’t a set road so taking a normal Corolla would ruin the car. They paid a guy 1000 rupees to sit in the back of a Mehran and went to the lake that everyone was talking about and found:

Lots of cars, a small lake with boats and zip-lining. The boats didn’t make any sense. The lake was so small, you could only go round and round the lake and get seriously dizzy in the process. The zip-lining looked like fun but was such a short line, it didn’t hold much appeal either.

    Zip-lining at Samundar lake

And the view? The stream they had stumbled upon was more beautiful – and free. On the way back to their car, they got stuck in a traffic jam.

    Not a great time.

Bummed, they went to Nathiagali bazaar to the famous Taj Mahal restaurant for Patakha chicken. The fried whole chicken, with its perfect masala made the trip up North worth it.

So, will they go back again? To Nathiagali, yes. To Samundar Lake? Definitely not. They might have if it wasn’t so difficult to get there. The views along the way are a lot more beautiful but getting to the lake is 100 percent not worth the hassle.

  • NOI-Stir Fry Kitchen – The takeout Lahoris have been waiting for

NOI-Stir Fry Kitchen – The takeout Lahoris have been waiting for

We’ve all grown up watching Hollywood movies in which Chinese takeouts are the thing. And let’s be honest, we’ve all secretly wanted that. Though most Chinese and Pan Asian restaurants in Lahore offer takeaways and deliveries, they rarely offer single servings which is why you usually have to think twice before placing an order.

Enter NOI-Stir Fry Kitchen – an Asian Stir Fry Kitchen which has been creating waves on social media and all the food groups. After reading some fabulous reviews on their dishes, I gave in to my temptation and placed an order. Considering their prices were also comparatively reasonable, I didn’t need any more convincing.

From the 16 gravy options they have, I tried their Crispy Honey Sirachi, Sweet and Sour Manchurian, Mixed Mushrooms Teriyaki and Hot BBQ Shashlik and am happy to report that not one of them let me down.

All dishes are single servings and come with a side of plain steamed Asian rice packaged in a paper carton. The food was delivered piping hot in small black plastic containers and it was good to see that their serving size was pretty good – it was more than enough for a person. The quantity of vegetables in each dish was also impressive and they were well-cooked.

My favourite from the options has to be the Mixed Mushrooms Teriyaki and Sweet and Sour Manchurian. Most of us Pakistanis are used to eating saucy Manchurian which tastes like ketchup mixed with chicken. But Noi’s Manchurian was neither saucy nor ketchupy – it was just like the name suggested – perfectly balanced between sweet and sour. The Mixed Mushroom Teriyaki also had a similar flavour but with a stronger Ginger flavour. The mushrooms in this dish were delicious – they were better than anything else and I would order this dish for the mushroom alone next time.

Meanwhile, the Crispy Honey Siracha was extremely spicy and literally puts your mouth on fire. What I didn’t like about it was how it was barely crispy and the taste of honey was hardly detectable.

Mixed Mushroom Teriyaki, Sweet and Sour Manchurian

Nonetheless, given the quantity, taste and price, Noi is highly recommended. Their kitchen is open 5:30 pm onwards till late night but they are usually sold out long before closing time. Best is to place your order ahead of time so that you don’t end up disappointed.

  • Three Pakistani women Mrs Khan would disapprove of

Three Pakistani women Mrs Khan would disapprove of

Ever since Mrs Khan made an appearance on a morning show, she has become quite famous. On the live show, Mrs Khan had said that rising divorces are due to women’s inability to bow down before their husbands and because they argue too much.

While most Pakistani women have moved beyond the notion of the ideal “woman,” who Mrs Khan believes in, here are three Pakistani women she would disapprove of.

    Saba Qamar

Saba Qamar has been turning heads and putting the ghairat brigade on fire with her latest photoshoot. Mrs Khan would certainly disapprove of her showing off her long legs and bare arms. Aur toh aur Saba has said, “I do a thing called what I want.”

    Mehwish Hayat

Another Pakistani woman who does what she wants. Mehwish is bold and daring and doesn’t shy away from anything – whether it is speaking her mind or dancing her heart out. And let’s not forget how lit her recent speeches and television appearances have been.

    Want? Want kya hota hai?

    Benazir Bhutto

The real OG. Benazir Bhutto had the power to shut down anyone without even uttering a single word. A woman who shattered glass ceilings, stood up to bullies and inspired women across the world.

  • Hamza Ali Abbasi slams critics, explains what ‘platonic friendship’ means

Hamza Ali Abbasi slams critics, explains what ‘platonic friendship’ means

Hamza Ali Abbasi’s wedding to actor Naimal Khawar Khan is without a doubt the talk of the town. After the actor penned a long letter in which he explained his reasons for marrying Naimal, he was brutally trolled.

Hamza in his shaadi announcement had written, “Some people get married for themselves because either they fall in love or because their lonely or maybe because of family or to have kids, these are also good reasons, but believe me when your sole reason is to please Allah then Allah makes a man like me, who could never sustain anything emotional with the opposite gender, could never comprehend the idea of marriage in his head, Allah makes that man go up to his very platonic friend of two years Naimal and tell her that he doesn’t want a relationship (that GF/BF nonsense) neither is he claiming to be in love with her but he wants to marry her with the intention of strengthening his very turbulent efforts to walk a path which pleases Allah and to my surprise she agrees not just to marry me but also expresses her joy in walking this path with me & now we can’t even breathe without each other.”

In a follow-up tweet, he further clarified that there was no “love story” between the two and they were “just friends for 2 years and recently Allah put it in my heart to ask her to marry me.”

Following the floods of jokes and memes on Hamza and his platonic friendship, Hamza again took to social media to pen a long thread on what platonic means and the different ways of finding love.

What do you think of Hamza’s advice?
