  • Snake on a plane: Pilot makes emergency landing after finding cobra on board

    A South African pilot had to make an emergency landing after discovering a cobra under his seat. The poisonous snake was five feet long.
    “To be truly honest, it’s as if my brain did not register what was going on,” Rudolph Erasmus, the pilot said to BBC.

    “I told them: ‘Listen, the snake is underneath my seat. It is inside the cockpit, so we are going to have to execute a landing as fast as possible,” said Erasmus while talking about how he handled the situation.

    He first thought the cold feeling on his back was his water bottle, however as he turned to the left and looked down, “I saw the cobra receding its head backwards underneath the seat.”

    The plane was going from Bloemfontein to Pretoria. Along with the serpent, the private aircraft, a Beechcraft Baron 58, was carrying four passengers.

    Dalsey Hillblom Lynn, DHL Boeing cargo plane, broke into pieces after an emergency landing in Costa Rica on April 7. During landing, it skidded off the runaway at Juan Santamaria International airport.

    According to a statement released by DHL, soon after taking off, the crew reported the failure of the hydraulic system in the aircraft due to which the plane immediately made an emergency landing. It was reported that both pilots have escaped severe injuries. The company has initiated an investigation to find out the real cause of the incident.

    DHL added in the statement, “We are pleased to report that the crew was physically unharmed in the incident,” it continued, “One crew member underwent medical checks as a precaution.”

    As per data from the website FlightRadar24, the cargo plane took off from Juan Santamaria Airport and headed north initially before deviating from an original course after 10 minutes.

    The air jet was swung towards the south for about 20 minutes before entering a holding pattern. The pilots probably performed action was to dump excess fuel that could have catch fire in the crash landing. The air jet landed in the direction of North-East before the crash landing at the airport.

    Chief Minister Usman Buzdar’s helicopter made an emergency landing in Lahore due to strong wind on Thursday evening.

    Buzdar and his staff members who were travelling from Islamabad to Lahore, remained safe.

    The chief minister’s helicopter was scheduled to land at Lahore old airport but the wind forced the pilot to divert and land at the Railway Stadium in Garhi Shahu. Buzdar had gone to Islamabad on Wednesday to attend meetings chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

  • Indian aircraft makes emergency landing in Karachi

    An Indian aeroplane made an emergency landing at the Karachi airport after the health of a passenger suffered a cardiac arrest on the flight.

    The passenger, 30-year-old Muhammad Noushad, was declared dead by doctors as soon as the plane landed. They said that the passenger had suffered a cardiac arrest and breathed his last before the plane landed.

    According to Indian media reports, the deceased passenger was a resident of Bareilly, a city in Uttar Pradesh. Some reports stated that the flight G8- 6658A- took off from Riyadh on Tuesday afternoon but had to make an emergency landing after the passenger fainted and died on board.

    The aircraft of the private airline, GoAir (6658) carrying 179 passengers, was en route to New Delhi from Riyadh. After refuelling, the flight took off to land at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.

    PIA flight from Riyadh makes emergency landing in Karachi

    A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Riyadh on Thursday made an emergency landing at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, after the plane developed some technical fault, ARY reported.

    According to reports, PIA flight PK8726 from Riyadh was scheduled to land in Multan but developed a technical fault, forcing it to make an emergency landing at the Karachi airport. “The plane safely landed at the airport,” the report quoted sources as saying, adding that an alternative plane was arranged for the passengers to leave for Multan.

    Speaking of the technical fault, they said something went wrong with one of the doors that apparently did not close properly.

    The passengers, after realising something was wrong, refused to fly on the same plane and demanded that the authorities make alternative arrangements.

    The incident comes days after 97 people were killed while only two survived miraculously after an ill-fated PIA plane crashed in a residential area seconds away from the Karachi airport.

    An investigation into the crash is underway.

    Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said that those found responsible in Pakistan International Airline (PIA) plane crash incident will be taken to task. He assured that fair and transparent investigation will be carried out into the tragic crash incident.

    Speaking during the National Assembly session on Wednesday, he said the preliminary investigation report will be presented before the house on June 22. “Decoding of voice and data boxes have been completed and this will be made part of the inquiry report to make it credible,” the minister highlighted.

    Sarwar maintained that the government has requested the International Pilots Association to provide a pilot and technician to help in the investigation of the crash.

    He said the inquiry reports of plane crashes that occurred in the past including those in the federal capital will also be made public.
