    PTI’s Faisal Javed indicted for misbehaving with journalist

    Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Javed has been indicted on Wednesday for inappropriate behaviour with a journalist, ARY News has reported.

    The charge sheet against him stated that Faisal Javed attacked a TV reporter and threatened him on August 9, 2022, noting that threatening a journalist is a crime. The indictment ordered to move forward with a case against the PTI leader.

    The PTI leader has denied the accusations and said that he didn’t threaten the journalist.

    Last month, Faisal Javed came out of months-long hiding and secured transit bail from Peshawar High Court (PHC).

    On Monday, Senator Faisal Javed of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) appeared in  Peshawar High Court (PHC) after “hiding” for months and and secured transit bail. 

    PHC Chief Justice Mohammad Ibrahim Khan granted transit bail to the PTI leader, who hasn’t been seen in public since several months.

    The court granted bail against bonds worth Rs100,000 and ordered the PTI senator to appear before the concerned court.

    Talking to journalists outside the court, Faisal expressed joy over being granted bail and noted that, “Everyone is going through testing times. I hope that all the oppressed return home.”

    The judge approved also Ali Amin Gandapur’s transit bail petition for a case against him in Islamabad. Gandapur is the PTI nominee for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.

    After a nail-biting match, the Indian cricket team managed to defeat Pakistan by four wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.

    A crucial partnership between Indian master batsman Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya sailed India to victory. Before Pandya’s (40) dismissal, he and Kohli (82) shared scored 113 runs off 78 balls.

    At the end of the match, India stood at 160 with the loss of eight wickets. Kohli was awarded the Man of The Match award.

    On Pakistan’s side, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Nawaz took two wickets each, while Naseem Shah was able to get one.

    While there is disappointment over the Green shirts’ defeat, Pakistani politicians have come forward to support them.

    Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif praised the “brilliant effort” by the team, saying it was a “great game”.

    Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President, Maryam Nawaz, was of the view that “there’s no shame in going down while putting up a valiant fight”.

    “The match was an absolute cliffhanger and could’ve gone anywhere. Buck up Boys and gear up for the next fight!,” she said in a tweet.

    Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry praised Kohli who nearly scored a century. In a tweet, Chaudhry also asked the Indian PM Narendra Modi to let the Indian cricket team come to Pakistan.

    Apart from these politicians, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, PTI’s Senator Faisal Javed, PML-N’s Hina Parvez Butt, and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Saeed Ghani applauded Pakistan’s performance and wished them good luck for the upcoming T20 World Cup matches.

    Islamabad police books PTI’s Senator Faisal Javed and others on terrorism charges for protesting after Khan’s disqualification

    The Islamabad police have registered cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Senator Faisal Javed Khan and others on terrorism charges for protesting against Friday’s Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) verdict which disqualified PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

    A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against PTI leaders on Friday on the complaint of Subinspector Inamullah at Islamabad’s I-9 police station.

    The FIR said police officers in an official vehicle were posted at Faizabad to maintain the law and order and security situation. It said that around 8pm on Friday, a large PTI rally of around 1,000 to 1,200 people carrying sticks and rods started moving towards Faizabad.

    The complaint named PTI leaders Amir Kiani, Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi, Faisal Javed Khan, Raja Rashid Hafeez, Umer Tanveer Butt, Rashid Naseem Abbasi and Raja Majid.

    It added that the demonstrators advanced while running over the police contingent with vehicles with the “intent to kill”.

    It is pertinent to mention that PTI workers across Pakistan came out of the streets protesting against their party chairman’s disqualification, however later at night, Imran Khan called for an end to the protests.

    Faisal Javed consoles Fawad Chaudhry for not getting appreciation certificate from PM Khan

    Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday awarded appreciation certificates to the “top 10 best performing federal ministries” under his government, with the communications ministry, planning ministry, and poverty alleviation division getting top honours of first, second and third respectively.

    “When I came [into power] I had very revolutionary ideas to bring sudden changes but I realised our system doesn’t have the capability to absorb sudden shocks [and only by] incentivising will we bring positive changes in our bureaucracy and ministries,” said PM Khan.

    Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry, whose own Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was missing in the top 10, congratulated the award recipients.

    Taking to Twitter, Fawad wrote, “We could not make it this time because performance is measured by the implementation of projects that the ministry gives to the PM’s office. Next time inshallah :).”

    Replying to Fawad’s tweet, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Javed Khan said, “Brother, the job of your ministry is to highlight the performance of other ministries.”

    “Your performance has also been excellent – Keep it up,” said Javed.

    Lal Kabootar actor, Ahmed Ali Akbar appreciated the acknowledgment by PTI Senator Faisal Javed on his performance in HUM TV’s drama Parizaad.

    PTI Senator penned on his Twitter, ” A character getting more fame than the actor behind it, it is a huge acknowledgment of an actor’s outstanding performance. Such is the case with Ahmed Ali Akbar.”

    The actor took to his Instagram story to thanked his praise and tagged him as well.

    Ehd-e-Wafa actor also thanked TV actor, Zhalay Sarhadi for her praise for his acting in Parizaad.

    Multiple Bollywood actors including Vikram Kapadia of Bazaar fame, Darshan Jariwala of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani fame, and Namit Das of Wake Up Sid fame indulged in an online chat about the drama when the Kapoor & Sons star posted an appreciation note for the drama and it’s star Ahmed Ali Akbar.

    Indian designer Manish Malhotra also used the OST of the hit drama for his promotional video proving that Parizaad is not only loved in Pakistan but has a strong following across the border as well.

    The last episode of Parizaad will be screened in cinemas nationwide on January 28, 2022 (today)

    PTV asked to speed up dubbing process of ‘Ertuğrul’

    Following the unprecedented success of Diriliş: Ertuğrul in Pakistan, Senator Faisal Javed has said that the Pakistan Television Network (PTV) has been directed to air the Turkish series seven days a week.

    Taking to Twitter, Javed said that PTV is trying to speed up the dubbing process so that episodes can be aired daily on the national broadcaster.

    Last week, Riyaad Minty, an official of Turkey’s TRT Channel revealed that the show had surpassed 200 million views on TRT Ertuğrul by PTV channel and is nearing 3 million subscribers.

    The historical fiction series is being aired on the recommendation of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Set in 13th century Anatolia and based on the struggle of Ertuğrul Gazi, father of Osman I – the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, Diriliş: Ertuğrul has been trending in the country ever since its first episode aired on the first of Ramzan. According to PTV, 133.38 million people have watched the drama series from April 25- May 14. PTV’s YouTube channel has also registered an exponential rise in its viewership with 4.4 million subscribers and episodes trending every day on the social media platform.

    In an exclusive interview with The Current, Senator Faisal Javed Khan had revealed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had gifted the drama series to Pakistan as a goodwill gesture.

    Shaan is disappointed with PTV for airing ‘Diriliş: Ertuğrul’

    While the rest of the country is excited to watch Turkish historical fiction series Diriliş: Ertuğrul with Urdu dubbing on PTV, Shaan is disappointed with the state-owned channel’s decision to air foreign content.

    Replying to a tweet by Senator Faisal Javed Khan, Shaan said, “Try to find our own history and it’s heroes.”

    Following Shaan’s comments, people jumped in to support PTV’s decision, but Shaan was not having any of it.

    Shaan stood by his stance and asserted that PTV should fund projects of such magnitude, instead of spending money acquiring them.

    When the debate got more heated, Shaan clarified that he is not against Turkish dramas but wants the government to support local content.

    Shaan ended the debate by appealing to Prime Minister Imran Khan to support the entertainment industry and stop cultural imports like these. It is pertinent to mention here that Shaan was also very critical of Bollywood films being released in Pakistan and had always voiced his dissent against them.

    Shaan’s latest venture Zarrar, which has been in the works for a few years now, was expected to hit cinemas this year but due to the coronavirus pandemic, it is likely that its release will be affected.
