  • Money Heist’s Pakistani lookalikes you won’t believe

The Netflix series has been trending in Pakistan and was number one when part four came out. It was even bigger this time since this year it included invaluable help from Pakistanis for the rebellious gang. Every Pakistani fan was so excited to have Pakistan be a part of the revolution and the joy hasn’t died down yet.

So we had to ask? Doesn’t every single major character in the show look like a Pakistani actor? Don’t believe us? Here we go:

We have to begin with the Professor because we love him. And who better to play him than the distinguished Fawad Khan, who keeps his cool, deals with so many people and always looks like he has a plan. Moreover, with a beard and glasses, you can barely tell the two apart.

Monika is everyone’s hot favourite this season and there is literally no difference between her and Ayeza Khan; and after seeing her stellar, strong performance in Meray Paas Tum Ho we all know that Ayeza can totally pull the role off.

Rio’s innocence can only be replicated by Shehroz Sabzwari. He might not act well enough to be Rio but he’s definitely got the look.

We literally couldn’t tell these two apart. Meesha definitely has the looks, and the fire, to play the rebellious Tokyo.

Dashing and smooth? Adnan Siddiqui is the top search result for Berlin.

Fire, spunk and the guts to take the police and government on, Nausheen Shah is the perfect fit for Raquel.

Our favourite, our warrior and the star of this season, Nairobi, could only be played by the impeccable Saba Qamar.

Did you think we could actually forget Denver? No way! We can’t forget how similar Ali Rehman Khan looks to this conflicted and emotional character.

Even though our beloved Humayun Saeed didn’t make the final cut, we all remember the time when rumours began that he was a part of part four.

VIDEO: Fawad Khan serenades Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha

Before India became a victim to extremism and religious bigotry, things were pretty decent between Pakistan and India. There was a lot of cultural exchange and several of our superstars crossed the border and won hearts there. Fawad Khan, in particular, became an instant hit with the audiences there who couldn’t get enough of his good looks and charm.

Recently, The Current came across a video of Fawad serenading Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha at the 2016 IIFA Awards held in Madrid. In the video, Fawad is hosting the award ceremony with Karan Johar, when Johar challenges him to win the ladies. Karan then proceeds to first invite Sonakshi Sinha on stage and then Deepika Padukone. While Fawad sings Roop Tera Mastana for Deepika, he sang Chaudvi Ka Chaand for Sonakshi Sinha. Needless to say, the ladies were impressed and Deepika even went down on one knee for Fawad.

At the same event, Ranveer Singh also expressed his desire to work with the Pakistani heartthrob and demonstrated how girls act when they see Fawad.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that after the awards ceremony, Fawad jetted off to Barcelona with Deepika and Karan Johar for a mini-vacay.

Fawad’s last project in Bollywood was Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which also released in 2016.

Iman Aly clarifies her remarks about Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan

Actor Iman Aly has clarified her remarks about head is not blowing over any time soon.

Iman in her interview had stated that the models currently working in the industry don’t have ‘adequate general knowledge’.

Similarly, Frieha Altaf also took to social media to criticise Iman for her comments on Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan and remarked that the model was resorting to “a cheap publicity stunt as she has a movie coming up.”

Iman, in the interview, had claimed that Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees had first been offered to her. She further said: “90% of the movies made in Pakistan today are still offered to me first. But I only take the scripts I fall in love with. If I don’t like the lines, it feels like work, like slavery.”

In another segment, Iman had remarked Humayun Saeed would be a “doodh dahi bechnay wala” (dairy product salesman) if he was not an actor. She also labelled Fawad Khan as a “failed standup comedian” and Mehwish Hayat a “cosmetologist’s assistant.” She also said that Mahira should have stayed a VJ.

Case against ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ reportedly withdrawn

It has been a long wait but it appears that the troubles for The Legend of Maula Jatt will soon end and the film will finally get a chance to see the light of the day.

According to reports, Sarwar Bhatti who had filed a case against the film for copyright infringement has withdrawn his case and has reached an agreement with the makers. Speaking to Epk, Bhatti said “Ammara Hikmat [producer] and Bilal Lashari [director] are like my children. Someone misguided them but all kids tend to make mistakes and therefore I am willing to put everything behind me. I am doing this for their welfare, for the revival of cinema and to give the much-needed boost to Pakistan’s film industry. I will no longer be a hurdle in the release of The Legend of Maula Jatt.”

It is being further reported that Bilal Lashari’s father Kamran Lashari and some mutual friends helped resolve the issues between the two conflicting parties.

Meanwhile, the producer of the film Ammara Hikmat while speaking to Galaxy Lollywood said, “With the intervention of few elders, Mr Bhatti resolved his differences with us and extended his support in the larger interest of the film industry, and we are grateful to them.”

Ever since the director of The Legend of Maula Jatt Bilal Lashari announced this film in 2013, the film was embroiled in legal cases after Sarwar Bhatti came forward and claimed that Maula Jatt was his property. He had filed an application for a stay order to prevent the director from using the character, name and dialogues and asked for the film to be banned from releasing.

‘We miss you’: Fawad Khan gets birthday love from across the border

In case you missed it, it is national heartthrob Fawad Khan’s 38th birthday today. Though the actor has been off the screen for a while now, he is still one of the most sought-after celebrities this country has.

And we’re not the only ones who miss him. Turns out he is being missed across the border as well.

Editor of Filmfare Magazine, Jitesh Pillaai, sharing pictures and clips of Fawad from his dramas, wrote a heartwarming note for the actor saying that he misses them.

“We carry a piece of you everywhere we go. I’m sure you carry a piece of us too,” wrote Pillaai.

Jitesh also shared pictures of Fawad on his Instagram stories.

Fawad’s Khoobsurat co-star Sonam Kapoor also wished the actor.

Fawad’s career in Bollywood was just taking off when a ban on Pakistani actors was announced in 2016. Following that, Fawad had several projects lined up but the Pulwama attack in early 2019 put an end to all chances. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) announced a blanket ban on Pakistani actors and artists working in the Indian film industry and vowed to take strict action against anyone who works with them.

Sonam Kapoor reveals how Fawad Khan was cast in ‘Khoobsurat’

Fawad Khan’s Bollywood cross-over was possibly one of Pakistan’s most successful. The heartthrob won hearts across the border and was offered a plethora of projects before India-Pakistan border tensions cut short his flying Bollywood career.

In a recent interview with Filmfare Magazine, Sonam Kapoor shared how Fawad Khan ended up being cast in the role. While discussing her struggles in India’s film industry, Sonam said, “Do you know how much effort it took to make Khoobsurat? No hero wanted to work with me because it was called Khoobsurat.”

“I had to get Fawad Khan from Pakistan. And look what happened. Fawad became a huge star. He had the confidence,” she continued.

This is not the first time Sonam has praised Fawad. She has often complemented him for his acting and professionalism and even said that she looks best with him onscreen.

Previously, Anil Kapoor also shared that no male actor was ready to take up the lead role opposite Sonam in Khoobsurat.

He had said, “We still kept looking for an apt actor and Rhea (Kapoor; co-producer) told me about Fawad Khan and showed me some of his work.”

They asked Fawad to give an audition and and immediately cast him because they really liked it.

The film was a huge success on both sides of the border and garnered positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. Late last year, producer Rhea even expressed her keenness to do a sequel of the film.

  • ‘Parey Hut Love’ has more stars than you can count

‘Parey Hut Love’ has more stars than you can count

The trailer of Asim Raza’s much-awaited romantic drama Parey Hut Love released Friday and the one thing that caught our attention was the plethora of stars in the film.

Apart from the star-studded lead cast which includes Sheheryar Munawar, Maya Ali, Zara Noor Abbas, Ahmad Ali Butt, Hina Dilpazeer and Freiha Altaf, there were glimpses of Mahira Khan, Meera, Fawad Khan, Cybil Chowdry and Sonya Jehan in the film.

And given that it’s an Asim Raza venture, we’re pretty sure there’ll be plenty of more cameos.

The three-minute trailer was fun, colourful, festive and glamourous and the premise of the film appears to be shaadi – no points for guessing that.

Parey Hut Love releases on Eid-ul-Azha.

  • ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ faces another twist

‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ faces another twist

Ever since the teaser for The Legend of Maula Jatt was dropped, the film has had to face some issue or another. The film, which was initially scheduled to be released on Eid-ul-Fitr this year, has now been postponed and a new release date has not yet been announced.

The film was mired in controversy when Sarwar Bhatti came forward and claimed that Maula Jatt was his property. He then filed an application for a stay order to prevent the director from using the character, name and dialogues and asked for the film to be banned from releasing. However, the Lahore High Court, after listening to the hearing, forwarded the case to the Censorboard and asked them to determine whether copyright issues exist or not.

In the latest turn of events, it has emerged that the Punjabi classic was reportedly produced by six partners that made up the Bahu Films Corporation, of which Chaudhry Jamil and Sarwar Bhatti were the main investors. This means that Sarwar Bhatti does not solely own the copyrights to the film. Chaudhry Jamil’s son has come forward with the claim and accused Sarwar Bhatti of misrepresenting facts and concealing important information.

Meanwhile, Sarwar Bhatti has rubbished the claims saying that he separated his business from Chaudhry Jameel in 1984, ten years before he was murdered. He also accused the film’s director, Bilal Lashari, and producer Ammara Hikmat of using “cheap tricks to corner him.”
