    Hotel owner, manager fined over violating SOPs in ‘vulgar’ student party

    A video of tourists celebrating and partying at tourist destination at Malam Jabba recently went viral on social media, prompting authorities to register an FIR against the participants and hotel management for violating SOPs.

    According to reports, the FIR also states that “obscene acts” were carried out at the party. The FIR was lodged under Section 294 and 33 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). The FIR also says that 30 to 40 participants are unidentified and missing.

    The FIR was registered on the complaint of SHO Javed Iqbal.

    Later, hotel owner Fazal Khan and manger Hasnain Ahsan were presented before a divisional magistrate. Both were fined Rs40,000 and released.

    Reacting to the incident, Ahmed Ali Butt hit out at authorities for allowing jalsas and rallies but registering FIRs against dance parties.

    Meanwhile, despite a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases, tourists are thronging to Pakistan’s scenic northern areas to witness snowfall and experience the winter wonderland.

    As per the latest reports, tourists flocked to Kalam valley to witness the Snow Kabaddi Championship, organised by the local youth in collaboration with the hotel association and youth affairs department.

    Six local teams took part in the championship with the Matiltan Tiger emerging as the winner.

    In Karachi, an FIR under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) will be registered against anyone found littering the city for the next two months, according to Karachi Administrator Iftikhar Shallwani.

    Shallwani highlighted that a large amount of garbage dumped at undesignated locations is wreaking havoc on the sewerage system, causing traffic jams and spreading an unpleasant odour. To reduce garbage problems in Karachi, police will impose Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) to ban people from dumping litter in the streets or at undesignated locations.

    Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) also reported how a massive amount of used contraceptives, such as condoms, in gutters has been causing sewerage problems in Karachi. The KWSB further stressed the need for generating awareness about the issue and urged government departments and social organizations to play their role.

    Earlier in October, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah launched the first real-time digital monitoring of waste disposal work in Malir district of Karachi. Additionally, over 200 Qingqi rickshaws were set up by the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) to initiate a ‘door-to-door’ garbage collection system.

    Indian woman takes lover on tour to Australia on husband’s passport

    A 36-year-old woman in India allegedly took her lover on a tour to Australia on a passport forged in her husband’s name in January. One of the married couple’s children studies in Australia.

    The two were supposed to return in March but due to the national lockdown, all international flights to India were suspended so they got stuck and returned home on August 24.

    The woman’s husband works in Mumbai, has registered a complaint at a police station accusing his wife of having an illicit relationship with the co-accused, Sandeep Singh, 36.

    He has accused Sandeep of forging documents to get a passport in his name.

    Superintendent of Police, Jai Prakash Yadav, has ordered registration of an FIR on the husband’s complaint and an investigation into the matter by a local intelligence unit (LIU).

    According to the complainant, he has been working in Mumbai for the past 20 years and occasionally visits his wife, who lives in their farmhouse and looks after his ancestral land.

    “When I returned to Pilibhit on May 18, my wife was not at home. I came to know from Sandeep’s family that both had gone to Australia. To find out whether Sandeep forged documents to obtain a passport in my name to visit Australia, I purposely applied for a passport on August 24 at the Bareilly-based passport office. Then I found out from the passport authorities that a passport in my name had already been issued on February 2, 2019,” he said.

    The SP said Gajraula police and LIU inspector Kanchan Rawat would investigate how a passport in the name of the complainant was issued despite identity-checking at multiple levels.

    Late Tuesday night, a video of a man beating and abusing his mother went viral on social media. According to details, the man thrashed his mother for property and cash.

    The man’s sister Zobia Meer, who shared a video on social media, revealed all the details of the incident and said that she and her sister reported that violent act to the police but they released their brother an hour later. She added that they are trying to register an FIR but the police is not helping them in this matter.

    The video sparked outrage on social media and many journalists, celebrities, social activists and other members of the civil society condemned the incident and demanded justice for Meer and her mother.

    Ali Rehman Khan, Ushna Shah, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Armeena Khan also Tweeted to condemn the incident.

    ‘JUI-F’s Mufti protecting Mansehra child molester’; family registers FIR

    A chilling child abuse case takes a surprising turn as political party, Jamaet-e-Ulema-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F)’s leader Mufti Kifayatullah is accused of harbouring the child molestor and forcing the victim’s family to take back their accusation.

    The case took place in Mansehra in December, when a ten-year-old student was sexually abused by a madrassah teacher. According to the medical report, the child was sexually abused multiple times, the child’s eyes had bloody wounds and he had also been tortured. After the medical report the madrassah was sealed as the alleged molester went into hiding. Police said that raids were being conducted to find the alleged rapist.

    In an update on the case, the family of the victim filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Mufti Kifayatullah and Qari Abdul Maalik for trying to force the family to drop the case and for hiding the alleged abuser, Shamsuddin.

    The family has registered an FIR and is not giving up

    The family says that Mufti Kifayatullah threatened them to settle out of court or face the consequences. He also offered them money to settle the case. The family has refused and is asking for justice.

    Hina Altaf, Agha Ali sued by a producer for fraud

    Hina Altaf and Agha Ali have been sued by TV producer Nousheen Agha for cheating her and running away with her money. On her petition, a local court ordered an FIR to be registered against the production team for alleged fraud and theft of valuables.

    The case will be registered against Hina, Agha, director production Sohail Iftikhar Khan, and production manager Gul Zaib Nawaz under sections of Pakistan Penal Code related to fraud for violating the contractual obligations and abandoning the television serial halfway.

    According to reports, Nosheen had paid Rs1.45 million to the actress, actor and production team for producing a television serial for Pakistan Television.

    In her written complaint, Agha alleged that under the contract she signed with the television actors and production team they were supposed to work for the television drama from November 3 to 23 as she had booked rooms for them in guest houses of sector F-6 and F-7 in Islamabad.

    However, on November 16, Hina and Ali, who were cast as the lead in the project titled Dil-e-Sarkash, abandoned the set without any prior notice and also took away Rs12 million which the complainant had paid as their remuneration for their work. The next day on November 17, Sohail Iftikhar and Gul Zaib Nawaz also ran away along with drama script, contract agreement, video shoots and other valuable items.

    Nousheen claimed that because of this she had suffered an enormous financial loss and mental stress.

    Meanwhile, both Hina and Agha have refuted these allegations, with Hina claiming that she has screenshots to prove her innocence.

    “No one has left the shooting spell. There were at least more than 40 people on the set including the actors, DOPS, technical staff and other crew members who were not paid on time. Everyone gave her a favor and we all kept working till the situation got worsened,” Agha claimed.

    Hina said: “Nothing of this sort has happened – and I have screenshots of my conversation with her which I can reveal to media when is needed.”

    A woman in Peshawar has been booked for aerial firing on Friday, after her videos went viral on social media, The Express Tribune reported.

    According to the details, an FIR [First information report] has been registered against Saba Jaffer, who is a resident of Hayatabad – an upscale neighbourhood of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) provincial capital.

    The police after the videos went viral, took notice of the incident by filing a complaint against the suspect.

    The authorities are conducting raids to get hold of the Saba as the investigation in the matter is underway.

    Imran vs govt? FIR registered against student marchers despite PM expressing support

    A sedition case has been registered against organisers and participants of the recently held Students’ Solidarity March despite Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan expressing his government’s willingness to allow the restoration of student unions subject to the establishment of a “comprehensive and enforceable code of conduct”.

    “Universities groom future leaders of the country and student unions form an integral part of this grooming,” the premier tweeted Sunday.

    Referring to the student unions of the past, PM Imran said that they had become “violent battlegrounds and completely destroyed the intellectual atmosphere on campuses”.

    He, however, clarified that unions will be “restored and enabled to play their part” in grooming the future leaders of the country. The premier said that a “comprehensive and enforceable conduct” based on the “best practices in internationally renowned universities” will be developed so that their restoration can be made possible.

    The tweets came a while after reports claimed that a sedition case had been registered against participants of Friday’s march.

    According to reports, Lahore’s Civil Lines police, on behalf of the state, registered the case on sedition charges against Ammar Ali Jan, Farooq Tariq, Iqbal Lala (father of Mashal Khan, who was lynched over allegation of blasphemy in Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan), Alamgir Wazir (nephew of MNA and Pashtun Tahafuz Movement leader Ali Wazir), Mohammad Shabbir and Kamil Khan, besides 250-300 unidentified participants.

    The action flew in the face of the recent statements by several ministers and government representatives, including the premier, who supported the students.

    On Friday, the students had taken to the streets in 50 cities of the country to voice their demands, including the restoration of student unions.

    According to the FIR, complainant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Nawaz said he was on patrol when he received information that a rally of 250-300 people led by Ammar Ali Jan, Farooq Tariq, Iqbal Lala, Alamgir Wazir, Mohammad Shabbir and Kamil Khan was being taken out. He said he reached Faisal Chowk on The Mall where the protesters were forcibly blocking the road to set up a stage to deliver speeches.

    “The speakers incited the students against the state and its institutions and speeches and slogans were recorded on mobile phones and can also be checked through PPIC3 cameras,” he claimed.

    Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Zulfiqar Hameed told Dawn that one of the suspects, Alamgir Wazir, was arrested two days ago in the case. He said the case was registered on behalf of the state because the students were delivering provocative speeches and chanting slogans against the state and its institutions. He said police would arrest the other people involved in the case as well.
