    Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) leader Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has formally apologised for slapping a police officer during the general elections.

    In a hearing held at the Election Commission, chaired by Nisar Durrani, Awan expressed regret for the incident and sought forgiveness in a written statement submitted to the commission. The affected police officer also submitted a written response during the hearing.

    During the inquiry, a member of the Election Commission questioned Awan, asking who she thought she was to take the law into her own hands.

    Awan responded to the inquiry by stating that she apologizes for her actions, clarifying that the polling stations were in a chaotic state and that she was merely trying to ensure order.

    She further stated that the police were a passive spectator and she felt threatened by the crowd.

    The incident, which sparked widespread criticism on social media, has been under scrutiny by the Election Commission.

    The commission has stated that it will issue further directives regarding the hearing at a later date.

    On February 12, Awan said that she slapped a police officer as the person in uniform was facilitating one political party on election day. The IPP leader also said that if the law does not take its course, then citizens will teach corrupt police officers a lesson.
    The video was widely slammed on social media, with users calling out the IPP leader for resorting to violence.

    Which women are on the priority list of political parties?

    Political parties have submitted their priority list to the Election Commission of Pakistan for reserved seats for women.

    According to details, major political parties Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) and others issued the priority list of the women candidates.

    The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leads with Hina Rabbani Khar topping the list for National Assembly seats from Punjab, followed by Samina Khalid Ghurki, Natasha Doultana, Neelam Jabbar, Shagufta Chaudhary, and Syeda Samina Raza.

    Shazia Marri was placed on the first number in the list for the National Assembly’s (NA) reserved seats for women.

    Other candidates include Dr Nafisa Shah, Shagufta Jumani, Shehla Raza, Mehtab Akbar Rashidi, Musarrat Rafiq, Shazia Soomro, Naz Baloch, Seher Kamran, Sharmila Farooqi, Shazia Abid, Rehana Baloch, Neelum Jabbar, Nargis Faiz, Nayab Gohar and Shazia Nizamani.

    The PML-N has nominated candidates such as Tahira Aurangzeb, Shaista Parvez, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Nuzhat Sadiq, Musarrat Asif Khawaja, Seema Jilani, Shiza Khawaja, Romina Khurshid Alam, Wajiha Qamar, and Zeb Jafar.

    The PML-N issued the priority list of 58 women candidates from Punjab.

    The candidates include Kiran Dar, Anusha Rehman, Tahira Wudood, Afia Naz, Saba Sadiq, Farah Naz, Shehnaz Salim, Muneeba Iqbal, Iffat Naeem, Zakia Khan, Ishrat Ashraf, Tehmina Daultana, Uzma Bukhari, Hina Parvez Butt, Saima Saadia, Rahila Khadim, Uzma Kardar and Tamkeen Akhtar.

    The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) presented Munazza Hasan, Firdous Ashiq Awan, and Asia Azeem in the list.
    Meanwhile, the PTI’s priority list was withheld by the ECP as the party’s election symbol was revoked after intra-party elections were declared null and void.

    Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) suggested 23 women candidates for the Punjab Assembly in its priority list. IPP issued the list of 14 women candidates and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) recommended 21 women candidates.

    In a recent appearance on the show ‘Hasna Mana Hai’, the former Information Minister, who had attended the couple’s lavish wedding in Hyderabad, said that at the reception she got a gut feeling that the marriage won’t work out.

    Awan said that on the day she, along with the family, arrived in Hyderabad to meet Sania’s family, she had whispered in Shoaib’s ear “Puttar, bara bura phas gaya hai. [Son, you are badly stuck ]”

    Awan said her intuition was based on the situation she saw. Although the two had a love marriage, and had tried to make their marriage work by deciding to live in Dubai rather than Pakistan or India. But Awan said what she witnessed during the wedding made her realise the marriage won’t work.

    “Jab tak mohabbat ka bhoot sawar hai,” the politician joked. “Ye chalay ga.”

    The couple have not made any public announcements about separation or divorce, and are currently hosting ‘The Mirza Malik show’ on Express Entertainment.

    Firdous Ashiq Awan’s revelation in an interview is going viral on social media, in which she admitted to the host’s question that she had received 200 tola gold at the time of marriage.

    Now the price of 200 tolas of gold is 4 crore, 49 lacs, and 20 thousand rupees in Pakistan.

    Firdous Ashiq Awan also said that these are our traditions. “We also gave gold bracelets to the buffaloes given to my sister at her wedding,” she added.

    Firdous Ashiq Awan, Central Information Secretary of the newly launched Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has in a tweet accused former Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar of doing corruption during his tenure as CM.

    Awan has listed out Budzdar’s alleged involvement in the following corruption scandals:

    •          5 billion to Farah Gogi’s account

    •          Encroachment of 9 kanals on government land

    •          50 Crore fraud in Multan City Housing

    •          30 lakh per capita from the shopkeepers of Taunsa

    •          420 million in bribes in commissioner and deputy commissioner appointments

    Awan further said that more cases of Buzdar’s corruption will be revealed soon.

    Last week, Aleem Khan made startling revelations in a TV show about former Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar.

    It is pertinent to mention here that Firdous Ashiq Awan has served as special assistant to the former CM Punjab. Buzdar and Awan both have left the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

    Firdous Ashiq Awan left PTI on May 26, accusing Imran of using people like tissue papers, and later throwing them away. Usman Buzdar has also left PTI after the May 9 riots.

    The Central Secretary Information of Istehkam-e-Pakistan, Firdous Ashiq Awan, has said that the events of May 9 are the reason for the political death of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

    In her statement, she said that she was away from politics for almost two years, stressing that it was difficult for her to stand with the PTI chairman Imran Khan and the party’s narrative.The former minister, once one of the most prominent faces of the then-ruling PTI said that when Imran was targeting his political rivals, she was standing by him but when he turned the direction of his cannons towards the armed forces of Pakistan, she became silent.

    She further added that there is economic and political instability as well as hatred for each other in the country.
    She added that doors are always open for PTI victims and Istehkam-e-Pakistan party is working for the stability of Pakistan.

    Firdous Ashiq Awan made Central Secretary Information of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party

    Jahangir Khan Tareen has confirmed in a tweet that former federal minister Fridous Ashiq Awan will be the Central Secretary Information of his newly launched Istehkam-e-Pakistan party.

    Tareen has already tweeted about the designations of other party members including Auwn Chaudhary, Aleem Khan and Amir Mahmood Kiyani, all three considered close aides of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan. Tareen himself was once considered one of the key figures in PTI, largely credited for getting independent candidates to join the party in 2018, paving the way for the formation of a coalition government.

    Firdous Ashiq Awan has previously held information portfolios in various governments.
    In 2019, she was appointed as special assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan for information and broadcasting. On November 2, 2020, she got appointed as Special Assistant for information to Chief Minister Punjab, Usman Buzdar.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi secured 186 votes but 10 PML-Q votes were not counted by Deputy Speaker Dost Mazari because of Chaudhry Shujaat’s letter, which turned the tables in favour of Hamza Shehbaz. In the final tally, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi secured 176 votes.

    Senior actress Iffat Omar congratulated Maryam Nawaz and praised Asif Ali Zardari.

    Actor Bilal Qureshi stated that money won and the country lost.
