From football to acting, Muneeb Butt’s fascinating career journey

Muneeb Butt may be very famous now but the route he has taken to arrive at this point was marked by plenty of twists and turns. He recently talked about his first acting job as a junior artist in a commercial during an interview on ARY Digital’s Ramadan special show ‘Shan e Suhoor’.

During the heart-to-heart chat with host Nida Yasir, Muneeb openly discussed his personal life, family, daughters, and career.
Talking about his dreams for his career, Muneeb Butt shared that he didn’t come from a family in the entertainment industry. He revealed that it all began when he was playing football in his neighborhood. A guy who was about his age, working as a junior artist coordinator for a commercial, approached him and suggested trying acting. He convinced Muneeb to visit the sets of a commercial shoot, which sparked Muneeb’s interest in acting.

“I went there as discussed, and I saw that there were at least 4 buses filled with other young boys like me, all being taken for the junior casting of the commercial,” Butt explained. He mentioned that actors like Shehroze Sabzwari, Ahmed Ali Akbar, and Ainy Jaffri were the main stars of the commercial, while he wasn’t even in the background.

“After that commercial, I told my family about my dream to study media sciences. While studying, I began my journey to enter the entertainment industry,” shared the actor from ‘Sar-e-Rah’. “That’s how it all began for me – going to auditions, facing rejection many times, and finally getting small roles.”
But he is grateful, saying, ‘I owe my success to a friend’s father who had connections in the industry and decided to help me without any ‘mutual benefit’.’

The celebrity also revealed that while he was studying, he began working at an advertising agency. There, he learned more about the industry’s opportunities. With the support of his boss and colleagues, he decided to step in front of the camera.
Muneeb Butt made his first appearance on screen in ARY Digital’s drama ‘Baandi,’ alongside Maria Wasti, Yasra Rizvi, Nimra Bucha, and others.

‘Anti hero’ Taylor Swift sparks outrage for befriending allegedassaulter Jackson Mahomes

‘It must be exhausting always rooting for the Anti Hero’? Not for Taylor Swift it seems so.

Taylor Swift has garnered backlash from fans because of the singer’s silence on the ongoing genocide of Gaza, and several videos showed Israeli fans dancing to the screening of ‘Eras tour’ movie. Now, fans are outraged after the singer who wrote ‘Mad Woman’ was spotted laughing along side the younger brother of NFL player Patrick Mahomes, Jackson Mahomes, who is accused of sexual assault.

A twitter thread by a Swiftie, detailing the charges filed against Jackson, who was seen in a video grabbing a woman and forcibly kissing her, is going viral. Jackson was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual battery and misdemeanour. But he was released on $100,000 bail.

The thread further revealed reports that alleged Jackson had tried to bribe the victim to force her to withdraw the case, which had attracted further outrage.

Taylor Swift attended a football game where her boyfriend Travis Kelce was playing, and several videos showed her high fiving Jackson, attracting intense backlash. Many criticised the singer as a hypocrite, for speaking up against sexual assault and rape but refusing to defend others who do the same thing.

Swifties were also taken aback when Taylor’s best friend and wife to Patrick, Brittany Mahomes, defended her brother-in-law in an Instagram story by writing “He’s just a human trying to live his own life”, when a fan asked her about the sexual assault allegations.

Many slammed Taylor Swift for failing to live up to her political beliefs and the feminist stance she had reaffirmed with songs like ‘Dear John’, ‘All Too Well’ or ‘Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve’ where Taylor has publicly discussed surviving abusive relationships and sexual harassment.

Others were shocked that Taylor continued to remain silent about her friendship with Brittany Mahomes, when she was named as Time Magazine’s Silence Breakers in the 2017 issue, when the singer had gone to court after her abuser sued her.

The Boycott, Divest Sanctions Movement (BDS) also called out Taylor Swift and Beyonce for allowing their films to play in an apartheid state where the genocide of Gaza is still going on. On their official Instagram account, the movement acknowledged that the two singers had refused multiple offers to play in Israel, but urged them to pull their films and music from playing in the country.

Taylor Swift sparks rumours of dating footballer Travis Kelce after she’s spotted at match

Looks like Taylor is no longer in her happy, free, confused and lonely era.

Rumors were floating around that there was something going on between the ‘Anti Hero’ singer and American football player Travis Kelce, after the NFL star revealed in a podcast that he tried to give her a friendship bracelet at the Eras tour but was dissapointed when he couldn’t hand it over. The quarterback then revealed on ‘The Pat MacAfee Show’ that he had been talking with the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer and invited her to his Sunday game, and it looks like Taylor was Ready For It when she was spotted at the Chiefs games.

The ‘Reputation’ singer was spotted chatting with the football player’s mom Donna Kelce.

Speaking to People Magazine, a source close to the singer said she accepted the invite despite having a busy work schedule.

“Taylor is very focused on work right now and hanging out with her girlfriends. Travis invited her to the game, and of course she said ‘yes. She just thought it was a fantastic way to spend Sunday.”

  • FIFA suspends Spain soccer chief Luis Rubiales amid row over kiss with Women’s World Cup winner

FIFA suspends Spain soccer chief Luis Rubiales amid row over kiss with Women’s World Cup winner

FIFA has provisionally suspended Luis Rubiales, the president of the Spanish soccer federation, from “all football-related activities” over his controversial kiss with Women’s World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso, as per CNN.

Rubiales has been refusing to stand down over the incident, which happened at the medal ceremony last Sunday after Spain won the tournament.

World soccer’s governing body FIFA said Rubiales was initially suspended for 90 days and also said that neither Rubiales nor the Spanish football federation were allowed to contact Hermoso in order to preserve her “fundamental rights.”

UEFA and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have also been informed of the decision, FIFA said, adding that further information would be provided when disciplinary proceedings had been concluded.

Spanish soccer boss Luis Rubiales on Friday refused to quit for grabbing star player Jenni Hermoso’s head and kissing her on the lips after Spain’s Women’s World Cup victory, leading 56 national team members to mutiny and the government to denounce his “macho actions”.

In a joint statement sent via their FUTPRO union, all 23 of the cup-winning squad including Hermoso, as well as 32 other squad members said they would not play internationals while Rubiales remains head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

In the same statement, Hermoso denied Rubiales’ allegation that the kiss he gave her at the medal ceremony after Spain beat England 1-0 in the World Cup final in Sydney, Australia, was consensual.

“I do not tolerate it when my word is put into doubt and less so when words that I have not said are invented,” she wrote.

At an emergency meeting of the federation called for Friday Rubiales had been widely expected to stand down. But instead he said he refused to quit and complained that “false feminists” were “trying to kill me”.

He called the kiss a “little peck” that was “spontaneous, mutual, euphoric and consensual”. He also claimed that he asked Hermoso if he could kiss her and that she said “OK”.

“Is a consensual peck going to take me out of here? I won’t resign. I will fight until the end,” said Rubiales, 46, drawing applause from the predominantly male audience.

The government, which cannot sack Rubiales, will seek to have him suspended using a legal procedure before a sports tribunal, the head of the state-run sports council CSD, Victor Francos, told reporters.

“We want all this to be a ‘Me Too’ of Spanish soccer,” Francos said.

Criticism of Rubiales’ behaviour after Spain’s win has built throughout the week, and acting Labour Minister Yolanda Diaz called his speech on Friday “unacceptable”.

She wrote on social media: “The government must act and take urgent measures: impunity for macho actions is over. Rubiales cannot continue in office.”

Acting Equality Minister Irene Montero said the state prosecutor and the CSD should act to protect Hermoso.

FIFA opened disciplinary procedures against Rubiales on Thursday after Hermoso said in a statement her union was working to defend her interests and that such acts should “never go unpunished”.

    ‘ATTACKING FEMINISM’

Rubiales’ comments on Friday and the applause he received at the event were widely scorned on social media.

In a post on X, journalist Javier Gallego Crudo described the meeting as “an assembly where a man, cornered by his own misogynist actions, ends up attacking feminism… blames the woman and is applauded by other men. No better illustration of patriarchy”.

The government said it had started a proceeding to take Sunday’s incident before a sports tribunal. If it can be proven that the kiss was non-consensual, Rubiales could even be tried under a sexual violence law introduced by the ruling Socialists last year.

A tribunal would have seven members, three of them women, and Francos said the CSD could suspend Rubiales during the investigation if the tribunal agrees.

Gender issues have become a prominent topic in Spain in recent years. Tens of thousands of women have taken part in street marches protesting sexual abuse and violence.

The coalition government has presided over legal reforms including around equal pay, abortion, sex work and transgender rights.

“This is unacceptable. It´s over. We’re with you, teammate Jenni Hermoso,” fellow player Alexia Putellas said on X after Friday’s federation meeting.

    Some male players also protested.

Borja Iglesias of Real Betis, who last played for Spain in 2022, said on X he would not put himself forward for selection for the national team “until things change and these kinds of acts don’t remain unpunished”.

At the event on Sunday, Rubiales was also seen grabbing his crotch in celebration while standing next to Queen Letizia in a box at the stadium, for which he apologised on Friday.

The international football players union FIFPro said in a statement it had written to UEFA, where Rubiales is vice president, requesting that it start disciplinary proceedings. UEFA declined to comment.

“I am embarrassed by the shame that it continues to be for Spanish football to have a president of the (RFEF) who continues to cling to office,” FIFPro President David Aganzo said.

Rubiales met with key federation members shortly before the assembly and told them about his plans not to resign, according to a federation source.

The only person who objected was Rafael del Amo, president of the national committee for women’s football, who said he would step down from his roles, which also included the vice presidency of the federation.

Pakistan women’s football team set to participate in six-nation tournament in Saudi Arabia next month

Pakistan’s women’s football team is set to participate in a six-nation tournament hosted by Saudi Arabia from September 18 to 30, as confirmed by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). The tournament will include teams from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Laos, Malaysia, and Bhutan. The PFF will soon announce a training camp to prepare the women’s squad for the upcoming event.

The PFF released a statement mentioning that the Pakistan women’s football team will be part of the six-nation tournament taking place in Saudi Arabia from September 18 to 30.

In January of this year, Pakistan traveled to Saudi Arabia for a four-nation tournament, competing against Comoros and Mauritius. The team achieved victory against Comoros but lost to Mauritius 2-1. They concluded the tournament on a strong note by drawing 1-1 against Saudi Arabia, which ultimately won the tournament.

According to Arab News, one of the recent accomplishments of the Pakistani women’s football team was a significant 7-0 triumph over the Maldives in the South Asian Football Federation championship in September 2022. In April of the same year, Pakistan achieved an impressive 1-0 victory over Tajikistan in the qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This win marked Pakistan’s first major tournament victory since resuming regular international football in September 2022, following a lengthy break. Previously, the team had secured victories mainly in friendly matches or exhibition tournaments such as the Four-Nation Cup in Saudi Arabia.

  • Activist Malala Yousafzai sends support to Afghanistan women’s football team

Women’s rights activist and Noble Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has expressed her support for the women’s football team from Afghanistan, who were banned by the current Taliban government from playing the sport after the takeover in 2021. Currently, the team resides in Melbourne, Australia, where they escaped to in 2021, but right now the football team is not recognised by the government or the FIFA organisation.

“I’m very sad. I was expecting a lot more for football’s governing body,” said Khalida Popal, who was the former captain of the women’s football team.

“[Fifa needs] to stand with these women. We want leadership – we need a strong voice to stand with us. Don’t keep silent.”

Currently, the Afghanistan Women’s Football team is being sponsored by the Australian professional football club Melbourne Victory, and now activist and Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has joined the ranks in calling for the team to be recognised by FIFA.

The producer behind ‘Joyland’ was in Melbourne to watch the Women’s World Cup and shared a post of her meeting the team members of the Afghanistan women’s football team, writing that she was inspired by their bravery and determination.

“I came to Melbourne because of a story. The New York Times published an incredible account of the keeper for the Afghanistan Women’s Team and how its founder @khalida_popal_girlpower helped the players escape near-certain death after the Taliban gained control and banned women’s sports. I was inspired by their bravery and determination. They were so proud to play for their national team and now they were burying their jerseys to avoid being caught and killed.

Today, I finally met the AWT in person— including Fatima and Khalida — to continue to support their campaign to be recognised by FIFA. This is the power of stories and why we must continue to share them. You never know who could be listening.”

The Pakistan-born activist urged her followers to read more about the football team and to donate funds to help support them as they live in exile and away from their families

  • Footballer wife demands property after divorce, finds out husband is broke, everything in his mom’s name

Footballer wife demands property after divorce, finds out husband is broke, everything in his mom’s name

Spanish newspaper Marca reported on Thursday that Hiba Abouk, the ex-wife of Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi, was unable to obtain half of his wealth after filing for divorce because the sportsman allegedly has no assets in his name.

Abouk requested half of Hakimi’s assets and fortune during divorce process, but was told that everything he earned is under his mother’s name. The report also stated that his mother was the recipient of his hefty salary.

The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2020 and are parents to two children.

In June, Morocco World News reported that Achraf Hakimi, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, is the sixth highest-earning African footballer, with a weekly income of over $215,000. However, Hakimi is currently under investigation for rape allegations made by a 24-year-old woman in February.
