  • Multiple ‘Game of Thrones’ prequels in ‘early development’

HBO is reportedly planning several Game of Thrones (GOT) prequels with the project in the early stages of development.

According to reports, one of the projects is based on the stories of Dunk and Egg from GOT author George R.R. Martin which follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg). The story is set 90 years before the events of the main series.

Martin has published three novellas in the Tales of Dunk and Egg series – The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight. All three were collectively published in 2015 with the title of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Further reports have said the show will have one hour-long episode. However, no writer or talent has taken on board yet. The project is said to be on the high priority of HBO but representatives from HBO and Martin have refused to comment on the project.

As per detailsHouse of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s House Targaryen chronicle Fire & Blood and set 300 years before Game of Thrones.

  • Couple uses scone dough to recreate scenes from ‘Game of Thrones’ during COVID-19 lockdown

Couple uses scone dough to recreate scenes from ‘Game of Thrones’ during COVID-19 lockdown

Bored by the weeks-long coronavirus lockdown? Not Hungarian film buffs Fanni and Norbert who have recreated dozens of scenes in their flat from Ghost, Game of Thrones, Scarface and other films using whatever household utensils they could find.

The couple’s photos quickly went viral on social media, and now they just can’t stop, coming up every day with new ideas.

“Inspiration struck when we were in the kitchen cooking,” said Norbert Hosszu, 30, as he prepared to put on a wig to act out a scene in which Tyrion Lannister pours himself a glass of red wine at his wedding in the Game of Thrones.

The couple, who used to work as improvisation actors before the coronavirus crisis hit, quickly recreated the scene in their kitchen using the scone dough. Viewers now write to them asking for more, and also ask for scenes from specific movies.

“Fanni and I have always liked to dress up, and when we were at university we went to a lot of costume parties. And of course, we both love movies and work with theatre,” Norbert said.

Which scenes they select depends on what they can find at home: flour instead of cocaine, tinned tomatoes instead of blood, a vacuum cleaner instead of a gun.

“I just hope that these photos will bring a smile to people’s faces,” Fanni said.

  • Indian media falls for Pakistani meme, fact checks Arya Stark’s picture as ‘Kashmiri girl’

Indian media falls for Pakistani meme, fact checks Arya Stark’s picture as ‘Kashmiri girl’

Amid the ongoing unrest in held Kashmir, a viral picture of Game of Thrones (GoT) character Arya Stark being portrayed as a Kashmiri girl, has been fact-checked by Indian media.

As per the details, the image was first shared by a Twitter handle, “Fan of Zaidu”, mentioning Arya — played by Maisie Williams — as a Kashmiri girl “who had gone blind after being hit by a pellet gun”.

    https://twitter.com/TheZaiduLeaks/status/1157727539873402882?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1157727539873402882&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fnewsmobile.in%2Farticles%2F2019%2F08%2F14%2Fpicture-of-gots-arya-stark-shared-as-kashmiri-girl-heres-the-fact-check%2F

It wasn’t later that the image took the micro-blogging website by storm.

Despite the handle clearly stating that its tweets are nothing but satire and “100% fake”, Indian media has started doing fact checks over the image, claiming that Pakistan’s premium intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was “leading the propaganda campaign against India”.

Moreover, a noted Indian scholar and activist, Madhu Kishwar, has retweeted the image and asked Fact Check India to “confirm if it is real”.

India TV Editor-In-Chief Rajat Sharma has also accused Pakistan of spreading false propaganda.

The image comes as tensions soar on either side of the border ever since India robbed occupied Kashmir of its special status. Pakistan fears the move can lead to a Muslim genocide in the troubled valley.

  • Kit Harington checks into a wellness centre for treatment

Kit Harington checks into a wellness centre for treatment

Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington is undergoing treatment after the end of the HBO television series in which he starred as the heartthrob Jon Snow.

His representative shared that “Kit has decided to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues.”

The statement did not give details of his issues, but The New York Post’s Page Six column said that the ending of the show hit Harington hard and he checked into the wellness centre where he will be treated for stress, exhaustion and alcohol use.

Page Six added that Harington checked into the clinic several weeks before the medieval fantasy series came to an end on May 19.

Harington, 32, propelled to world stardom with Game of Thrones, in which he played the role of the courageous Snow, whose actions in the final episode were one of the show’s biggest shockers.

Harington, who married his Game of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie in 2018, told Variety earlier this year that he had previously found it hard to deal with the fame and attention the show brought, calling it “terrifying.”

  • ‘Game of Thrones’: The curious case of the coffee cup and a water bottle

‘Game of Thrones’: The curious case of the coffee cup and a water bottle

NO SPOILERS AHEAD. SAFE TO READ.

After eight epic years, 47 Emmys and two dead dragons, Game of Thrones has said an emotional goodbye to devotees worldwide of one of the most popular shows in television history.

However, the creators of the series haven’t exactly been the most careful while producing the finale with two major bloopers outraging fans.

The first one was when a coffee cup made an unfortunate appearance in season eight episode four of the fantasy series, seriously upsetting fans. HBO said that it was a mistake and edited out the coffee cup for later broadcasts and streaming versions of the episode but that did not stop viewers from calling the producers “lazy.”

Two weeks later, in the season and series finale, fans noticed yet another blooper: a plastic bottle. The bottle, hidden behind Samwell Tarly’s boot, was spotted in a crucial scene in the show’s finale, causing the show more embarrassment. It has already received plenty of criticism in its final season, with over a million fans petitioning for its last six episodes to be remade.

Not only that, but some eagle-eyed viewers also noticed a second water bottle next to Ser Davos as well.

Though the final season of the fantasy drama broke records in terms of viewership, it received mixed reviews from critics and fans. Some viewers declared it “a travesty,” while others called it “satisfying”.

  • Who did Lena Headey refuse to appear with in ‘Game of Thrones’?

Who did Lena Headey refuse to appear with in ‘Game of Thrones’?

Game of Thrones star Lena Headey, better known as Cersei Lannister, reportedly refused to appear on-screen with co-star Jerome Flynn after a terrible real-life breakup.

According to Page Six, Headey requested the show’s makers to ensure that she and Flynn wouldn’t have to be in the same room together.

The report further revealed that Lena “appears to have a genuine hate towards him [Flynn].”

However, the two kept their bitter feelings about each other under wraps on the sets for the past eight years and have never appeared in a scene together. But that did not stop things from getting awkward sometimes.

The actress dated Flynn, who plays Bronn, before the show first aired in 2011.

  • Angry ‘Game of Thrones’ fans demand remake of Season 8

Angry ‘Game of Thrones’ fans demand remake of Season 8

Games of Thrones is nearing its end and while fans are emotional about saying goodbye to the series, that is not stopping them from being outraged at the way things are unfolding in the final season.

A petition on Change.org, which has till now drawn more than 240,000 signatures, is demanding a remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with “competent writers.”

“David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on,” the petition reads. “This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”

A quick search on social media shows that the fans are disappointed with the lighting, poorly conceived character deaths, interactions between characters that didn’t quite land right, and character twists that “seemed like utter betrayals of years’ worth of storytelling.” But the final outrage came after the latest episode, “The Bells.”

However, no matter what viewers have to say, it seems impossible to imagine that HBO would ever remake an entire season, especially considering that this is perhaps the most expensive one in history.

Moreso, it is important to note that HBO network is no stranger to controversial endings so outraged fans are unlikely to worry them. Plus, Game of Thrones continues to break records with its viewership.
