Recently, Gohar appeared in an interview with an online portal in which he discussed various topics including his career, recent sociopolitical incidents in Pakistan and his reason for doing the role of Danyal in Laapata.

The actor said: “In our country, husbands are reluctant to show love to their wives. They are afraid to give flowers to their wives in front of the world. They do all sorts of things, but when it comes to expressing love to their wives, men are afraid to do.”

He mentioned: “I have seen with my own eyes that Falak takes great care of Sarah. When he comes to the seat, he takes care of his wife in front of everyone.”

“It is a great pleasure to see Falak taking care of Sarah and I want every man to take care of his wife in the same way”, he concluded.

‘Breaking that vicious circle’: Gohar Rasheed hits back at Sharmila Faruqi, Kubra supports him

Recently the Digest Writer star had posted a message on Instagram to address a slap scene from his drama Laapata that was being widely shared on social media.

The actor had posted that the reason he opted for the role of Daniyal in the drama, “prove that oppression is a choice”. “If any insecure man with his fragile ego tries his ‘so called’ muscles on you, make the choice that Falak did without any fear,” he had written. “One tight slap back from a brave woman to such weak man in our society would be a giant leap for women kind.”

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Faruqi recently responded to actor Gohar’s reflections on violence against women on Instagram, disagreeing with the actor’s assertion that “oppression is a choice.”

Rasheed then replied to Faruqi’s comment via his a reply and a social media post. “With all due respect ma’am. Then how can we break this vicious cycle? If thousands of women are being oppressed daily, how can we change that reality?” he asked.

“The ‘slap scene’ depicts a woman standing up for herself and saying no to violence which is a step towards breaking that vicious circle. Oppression is a choice, an idea for the generation to come where no woman should accept being abused or oppressed due to the society norms and if she does tolerate being oppressed then that is her choice not a mindset anymore,” he wrote.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharmila Faruqi recently responded to actor Gohar Rasheed’s reflections on violence against women on Instagram, disagreeing with the actor’s assertion that “oppression is a choice.”

The Digest Writer actor had posted a message on Instagram to address a slap scene from his drama Laapata that was being widely shared on social media.

Faruqi replied to Rasheed’s post, saying that oppression is “not a choice”. “It’s a hard reality,” she wrote.

“Thousands of women are oppressed daily not because they chose to be oppressed but because they don’t have the choice to hit back or leave. Marital rapes, domestic violence, acid victims, child marriages are rampant because the victims are helpless physically and financially. They suffer in silence and those who do muster the courage to fight back are either silenced, murdered or divorced with no where to go. The victim blaming never ends, it’s a vicious cycle.”

Gohar Rasheed pens a note for ‘abusive’, ‘spineless’ men, cites a scene from ‘Laapata’

Actor Gohar Rasheed has penned a long note for abusive men who think “physically abusing women is fine.”

Sharing a clip from his drama serial Laapata, the Digest Writer star turned to social media and wrote: “I hate the display of physical abuse on television. This is why I have always refrained from doing it in at least my own characters. It’s unfortunate but it has been done so frequently on our television that it’s almost become a subconscious reality for us.”

The Mann Mayal actor further added: “Apparently, physically abusing women is “fine” and any misogynistic, spineless man can get away with it, just like Daniyal thought in yesterday’s episode of Laapata. It may sound strange but The Thappad scene was the only reason as to why I took up the character of Daniyal.”

“To prove that oppression is a choice. If any insecure man with his fragile ego tries his so called muscles on you, make the choice that Falak did, without any fear! One tight slap back from a brave woman to such weak man in our society would be a giant leap for women kind”, he concluded.

“Girls like Falak rock. Men like Daniyal shock,” concluded Rasheed.

In the video, husband (Danyal) slaps wife (Falak) and she slaps him back with a warning to break his hands if he’ll think of doing that again.

Featuring a far-famed cast of Ayeza Khan, Sarah , Ali Rehman Khan and Gohar , Laapata airs on Hum TV. The drama is written and directed by Khizer Idrees.

When she read the script she only wanted to do Geeti and didn’t even consider the other role.

The other parallel role of ‘Falak’ is being essayed by Sarah Khan, who is a sports enthusiast and is in love with Ali Rehman Khan’s character, Shams.

After the appreciation that she received as Meenu from Chupke Chupke she wanted to do another lighthearted and fun character hence she insisted that she will play only Geeti’s character.

The characteristics of Geeti resonated with her more as she mentioned that even in her real life the Meherposh actor is very “filmy”.
