Hamza Ali Abbasi’s take on religion irks fellow actors

By now everyone knows that Hamza Ali Abbasi has taken a break from acting to focus on his spiritual journey and getting a better understanding of Islam. The actor turned evangelist also often shares his thoughts and understanding of religion on social media.

Recently Abbasi tweeted that he fails to understand why we need a Messiah or an Imam when we have the Quran.

When a follower shared his thoughts on the matter, Hamza said that he is “referring to terms that denote self-proclaimed directly divinely guided people.”

Hamza further asserted that all problems within Islam exist today because we have started neglecting the Quran.

Following Hamza’s comments, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Shahroz Sabzwari expressed their reservations and disagreed with Abbasi. While Mohsin advised Hamza to keep learning, Sabzwari commented that he fails to understand why some people become the thaikaydaar (custodians) of Islam.

It is pertinent to mention here that Hamza supported Haider’s former wife Fatima Sohail when she accused him of domestic abuse and cheating.

“We need to make a horrible example of Mr Mohsin for all those men who dare raise there hand on the female servants of Allah & try to justify it,” Hamza had said.

On the other hand, Yasir Hussain supported Hamza’s stance and said that he is saying the right thing.

Celebrities come together for a short film on coronavirus

A host of Pakistan’s much-loved celebrities have come together for a short film titled Call To Action to raise awareness on the coronavirus pandemic.

Among those who feature in the film includes Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humayun Saeed, Reema, Shehzad Roy, Ali Rehman Khan, Zara Noor Abbas, Maya Ali, Anwar Maqsood, Bilal Maqsood, Sheheryar Munawar, Wasim Akram, Shaniera Akram, Ayesha Omar, Iqra Aziz, Yasir Hussain and Mikaal Zulfiqar. The film follows them as they talk to each other on the phones. While the conversation appears to be like one anyone would be having with their friend or family on the phone, each dialogue has a message behind it.

For example, Shehzad Roy talks about how important it is to keep washing our hands, while Iqra says, “Fasla rakhain, kaheen corona na ho jaye.” Ayesha Omar expresses her annoyance at unverified Whatsapp forwards. The dialogues are fun, short and witty.

The film has been written and directed by Faisal Qureshi.

And this time the actor made a surprise social media appearance to answer the burning question we’ve all been asking: when is The Legend of Maula Jatt revealing?

And turns out the rumours have been true all along – the film is expected to hit the screens on Eid ul Fitr 2020 as per Fawad and the film’s producer Ammara Hikmat. Not only that, Fawad gave his fans a double treat by sharing a picture from his first day of the shoot for the film.

Mahira also gave Maula her ‘mubarak’ on this latest development.

It has been a long wait but the makers of The Legend of Maula Jatt have finally managed to sort out the film’s legal battles and clear the path for its release.

Reports had revealed that Sarwar Bhatti who had filed a case against the film for copyright infringement has withdrawn his case and has reached an agreement with the makers.

Speaking to a private news outlet Bhatti had said “Ammara [producer] and Bilal Lashari [director] are like my children. Someone misguided them but all kids tend to make mistakes and therefore I am willing to put everything behind me. I am doing this for their welfare, for the revival of cinema and to give the much-needed boost to Pakistan’s film industry. I will no longer be a hurdle in the release of The Legend of Maula Jatt.”

Bhatti had claimed that Maula Jatt was his property and had filed an application for a stay order to prevent the director from using the character, name and dialogues and asked the court to stop the film from being released.

It has been a long wait but it appears that the troubles for The Legend of Maula Jatt will soon end and the film will finally get a chance to see the light of the day.

According to reports, Sarwar Bhatti who had filed a case against the film for copyright infringement has withdrawn his case and has reached an agreement with the makers. Speaking to Epk, Bhatti said “Ammara Hikmat [producer] and Bilal Lashari [director] are like my children.

It is being further reported that Bilal Lashari’s father Kamran Lashari and some mutual friends helped resolve the issues between the two conflicting parties.

Meanwhile, the producer of the film Ammara Hikmat while speaking to Galaxy Lollywood said, “With the intervention of few elders, Mr Bhatti resolved his differences with us and extended his support in the larger interest of the film industry, and we are grateful to them.”

Ever since the director of The Legend of Maula Jatt Bilal Lashari announced this film in 2013, the film was embroiled in legal cases after Sarwar Bhatti came forward and claimed that Maula Jatt was his property. He had filed an application for a stay order to prevent the director from using the character, name and dialogues and asked for the film to be banned from releasing.
