‘They’re from a burger family’: Babrik Shah criticizes Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi’s Punjabi accents in ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’

Actor and model Babrik Shah is known for being outspoken and true to form, he had another opinion that may ruffle a few feathers.

During an appearance on Desi Book, Babrik Shah shared his thoughts on the blockbuster film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt.’

Host Junaid Saleem asked, “I was reading your statement in an interview, where you said about Maula Jatt that Hamza Ali Abbasi and Fawad Khan are like a ‘burger family’ and that Maula Jatt and Noori Natt are not like that.”

Shah replied, “They are a burger family, now, just imagine a guy from a burger family trying to speak Punjabi. Where will he even get that deep, commanding voice like Noori Natt? And then there’s Sultan Rahi, he had that manly vibe, that power in his delivery, which is just not there anymore. It doesn’t have that same feeling. And the way they’re speaking Punjabi nowadays, it’s like they’ve just learned it or someone taught them how to speak it. That’s why I said it had a very ‘mummy daddy’ style, lacking that true masculine essence.”

Talking about the remake the outspoken model said,“Maula Jatt was a masterpiece of its time, a true classic that stood the test of time. It should never have been remade.”

Why Mariyam Nafees isn’t focused on playing a heroine opposite Hamza Ali Abbasi

Actress and model Mariyam Nafees gave an interview to ‘Independent Urdu’ where she talked about her character Zeenat in ‘Jaan e Jahan’.

“If I wanted to play the lead opposite Hamza Ali Abbasi, I could have. He’s one of the most famous actors in Pakistan. But I don’t care about playing a heroine opposite him because we’ve known each other for years and are more like friends. Being cast as a lead opposite him isn’t a huge priority for me. If it happens, that’s good, but I’m not actively looking for it.”

She also said, “I was initially supposed to play another character in ‘Jaan e Jahan’, but it was later removed from the script. Then, I was offered two more characters, and I chose to play ‘Zeenat’ because she had a huge impact in the drama and her character arc was perfect.”

  • Which actors were considered for lead roles in ‘Ishq Murshid’?

Which actors were considered for lead roles in ‘Ishq Murshid’?

Hum TV’s drama serial ‘Ishq Murshid’ has become immensely popular with its unique storyline and excellent casting. Fans are loving the chemistry between Durefishan Saleem and Bilal Abbas. Farooq Rind directs the drama, which is written by Abdul Khaliq Khan.

The writer recently appeared on Something Haute’s show Haute Talk, hosted by Hassan Choudhary where he revealed the names of male actors he was considering for Shahmeer’s character.

“I had several names in mind because we aimed to cast popular actors for the 8:00 pm slot to attract fans’ attention. We considered Ahad Raza Mir, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Wahaj Ali, and Bilal Abbas for the lead role. Ahad Raza Mir requested the complete script, which wasn’t feasible. Hamza Ali Abbasi was occupied with Jaan E Jahan, although I envisioned him as Fazal Baksh and politician Shahmeer. Wahaj Ali was already committed to Tere Bin, so we didn’t pursue him much, although we did approach him. All four were approached, but fortunately, Bilal Abbas had a better grasp of our script. He read the initial episodes and understood the character well, which greatly helped us.”

He said, “I never compromised on the script, but there are times when you have to give a chance to a new actor, even if you’ve already decided on someone else. You know that the actor you want will also excel in that specific role. Well, Humayun [Saeed] was supposed to play the character of Afzal in Pyare Afzal, but I told him, ‘This role isn’t for you.’ He accepted it, and that’s how it went to Hamza Ali Abbasi.”
