‘People criticise me if I put on lipstick’; Hina Bayat on life after her husband’s death

Life in the spotlight isn’t always as glamorous as it seems, especially when personal choices are harshly judged by the public.

Recently, veteran actress Hina Bayat appeared as a guest on Subh Ka Samaa Madeha Kay sath, where she spoke about the criticism she faced after the death of her husband, Rogar Bayat.

“If I apply lipstick and makeup and go somewhere, people will say, ‘She’s one of those women.’ It hurts these women when their husbands are mentioned like this. I’ve even read comments from people about it,” Hina said.

The Shehr-e-Zaat actress shared how people criticize her for wearing makeup, especially after her husband’s passing.

“Why? Now tell me, it’s my job. I come on television, and if the character demands that I wear makeup, I’ll do it. I’ve done roles where I’ve gone with a bare face, no makeup at all. But you didn’t comment on that. Even if there’s no demand, I’m saying it clearly, the first thing is that I am appearing in a role. If the character needs it, I’ll do it. What’s wrong with that?”

She then revealed how her mother taught her to live fully, even in hard times.

After losing her late husband Roger Bayat to cancer, she stayed strong, remembering her mother’s words. Hin asaid, “We must live the years Allah blessed us with and move on.”

Hina Bayat lost her husband, Roger Dawood Baayt, to cancer on January 04, 2023.

Hina Bayat also starred in drama such as, ‘Jhumka Jaan’, ‘Ishq Gumshuda’ , ‘Uraan’, ‘Humsafar’, Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu’, ‘Khumar’, ‘Jannat say agay’ and ‘Jaan Nisar.’

Earlier, in a recent podcast with FHM, Veteran actress Hina she shared her opinion on the growing number of divorces in society and how tolerance levels have changed.

“Why should I blame social media? Basically, over time, people’s tolerance has decreased. I believe that. I’ve heard some people say, ‘I was born to put up with this’, but in any relationship, even at work, not every colleague is someone you click with,” she said when asked about issues in marriages and if social media has played any role in it.

“You have to compromise a little bit somewhere… you have to tolerate something. There are some things you just can’t tolerate. There are lines you don’t cross, and the same applies to marriage… you set your own boundaries.”

Jaan Nisar: more intriguing than it first appears

‘Jaan Nisar,’ a project by 7th Sky Entertainment, is led by the talented duo Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi. This new drama airs on Geo Entertainment and has kicked off with three episodes, hinting at a storyline that’s deeper than it first appears.

Dua, played by the versatile Hiba Bukhari, is a young girl with big dreams. Unlike the typical obedient and practical sisters, Dua loves dancing and dreams of exotic meals instead of the usual desi dishes. She hopes for someone who can help her achieve her dreams, though she’s not just a “fortune seeker.”

Enter Nosherwan, a dark, mysterious, and no-nonsense guy, portrayed by Danish Taimoor. He seems like the perfect drama hero, but there may be more to his character than meets the eye.

On the other side, Dua shares a seemingly love-struck story with Faraz, played by Haroon Shahid. Nosherwan notices Dua on two occasions and seems intrigued, though he hasn’t admitted it to himself yet.

But there’s a twist: Nosherwan was forced to marry his brother’s widow, Kashmala, a role he’s uncomfortable with as he always saw her as a sister-in-law. The past haunts him and drives him to do good deeds, like protecting women in his village.
The drama also teases a mystery about Nosherwan’s brother’s death and Dua’s strict father, who has a dubious character.

‘Jaan Nisar’ airs on Geo Entertainment every Friday to Sunday at 8:00 p.m. The cast includes Danish Taimoor, Hiba Bukhari, Haroon Shahid, Sajid Hasan, Hina Bayat, Mahmood Aslam, Dania Enwer, Kinza Malik, Hiba Ali, Sajeeruddin Khalifa, Humaira Bano, and Ellie Zaid.
