  • Sofia Coppola’s daughter crowned ‘Nepo baby of the year’ after TikTok goes viral

Director Sofia Coppola and her husband singer Thomas Mars are known for being a power couple in Hollywood. The notoriously private pair have two daughters. Coppola, who is the daughter of ‘The Godfather’ director, Francis Ford Coppola, revealed in an interview that she wants her daughters to live a normal childhood without the pressures of fame.

Yesterday, Coppola’s daughter, Romy Mars, took social media by storm with a 50 second TikTok video where she revealed that her parents had grounded her after she tried to board a helicopter from New York to Maryland in order to visit her camp friend. She also further revealed her babysitter’s boyfriend in the video who was helping her make a pasta, and called them her “replacement parents”, because Coppola and Mars were never around.

Although the video has since been deleted, Twitter users are crowning Mars as “nepo baby of the year” and saying that the video was proof that the powerful storytelling capabilities of Coppola and her father are reflected through her.

  • ‘Comfort is boring’: Priyanka’s veiled barb about Shah Rukh Khan

Priyanka Chopra was recently asked to comment on Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan’s statement about not working in Hollywood because “I am comfortable here.”

Chopra was attending the SXSW festival where she was promoting her upcoming series Citadel. The actress and Khan had previously worked together in Don and Don 2, before she shifted to Hollywood to star in the series Quantico.

In response to Khan’s statement, Chopra had said that she doesn’t share the same sentiments:

“Comfort is boring to me. I am not arrogant, I am self-assured. I know what I am doing when I walk onto a set. I don’t need the validation of executives. I am willing to take auditions, I am willing to work. I do not carry the baggage of my success in one country when I walk into another country.”

Priyanka Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan worked together in Don 1 in 2016. The two were rumoured to be romantically involved during the shoot.

Chopra further went on to say that her father, who was from the military, had taught her to be disciplined and remain focused on her job:

“I am very professional and if you ask people around me, I am known for my professionalism. I take pride in it. My father was in the military and he taught me the value of discipline. He taught me not to take the value of what you have been given for granted.”

The ‘White Tiger’ actor further stressed that she was able to build a legacy for herself because of her hard work, because of which she has learned to dodge bullets and just focus on her job.

Kirsten Dunst says she is proud of iconic upside-down Spider-Man smooch

Kirsten Dunst, who acted with Tobey Maguire in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, has said that she is proud of the iconic upside-down smooch.

Speaking to W Magazine, the actor confessed she was made to do her research before performing the scene.

“Water was getting up his [Tobey Maguire] nose because of the rain, and then he couldn’t breathe in the Spider-Man suit … and it just felt very late at night. I didn’t think about it that way,” she talked about the cold and rain situations on set.

She continued: “But the way it was presented to me, [director Sam Raimi] gave me this book of famous kisses, so that made me realize how romantic and special Sam wanted this to be,” she explained. “Even though it wasn’t necessarily feeling that way with Tobey hanging upside down. I’m proud to be a part of that.”

“It looked like a great kiss,” she added, considering the extreme weather conditions the couple was surrounded by.

  • ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ becomes first pandemic-era movie to smash global $1 billion

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ becomes first pandemic-era movie to smash global $1 billion

Hollywood’s young star Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man No Way Home’ has become the first pandemic-era movie to cross $1 billion at the global box office.

Sony’s comic-book epic has eclipsed that milestone in a near-record 12 days, tying with 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ as the third-fastest film to reach the billion-dollar benchmark. Only 2018’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ were quicker, smashing the coveted tally in 11 and five days, respectively.

The movie managed to blow past $1 billion in ticket sales worldwide given the rapidly spreading omicron variant of Covid-19. It makes Tom’s Marvel superhero adventure the only film since 2019’s ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ to surpass $1 billion globally. No other Hollywood film has come close to nearing those box office revenues in the last two years.

Prior to Spidey’s reign, MGM’s ‘James Bond sequel No Time to Die’, which grossed $774 million globally, stood as the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2021 (and the pandemic). As the first film to reach $1 billion worldwide, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ took the earthly throne from another box-office behemoth, China’s ‘The Battle at Lake Changjin’ ($902 million), to officially cement its place as the year’s highest-grossing film worldwide. It’s also notable that ‘No Way Home’ surpassed that high-watermark without playing in China, which is currently the world’s biggest filmgoing market.

At the US box office, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ had another dominating weekend, soaring high above the competition during a crowded Christmas corridor.

As per Reuters, the newest Spider-Man adventure collected $81 million from 4,336 North American theaters over the weekend. To put that figure in perspective, only select Covid-era releases have managed to generate that kind of coinage in their entire cinematic runs, much less in their second weekend of release. ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ also managed to do so at a time when several new films — ‘The Matrix Resurrections,’ ‘Sing 2’ and ‘The King’s Man’, among others — opened nationwide to decent (and not-so-decent) ticket sales.

It brings the film’s ten-day total to a mammoth $467 million at the US box office. That tally is more than double the next highest-grossing film in Disney and Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, which earned a mighty $224 million domestically.

At the international box office, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ added $121.4 million over the weekend and has made $587 million to date, bringing its global revenues to $1.05 billion.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s eldest son testifies against father in court

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s eldest son Maddox Jolie-Pitt has reportedly testified in the former couple’s divorce trial and has said not “very flattering” things about his father.

“Maddox has already given testimony as [an] adult in the ongoing custody dispute, and it wasn’t very flattering toward Brad,” an “inside” source told Us Weekly on Thursday. “He doesn’t use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren’t legal and instead uses Jolie. Maddox wants to legally change his last name to Jolie, which Angelina has said she doesn’t support.”

The report comes hours after Jolie reportedly told the court that she will offer “proof” at trial to support her claims of domestic violence against ex-husband. Court filings, submitted last week, indicate that Jolie and her children are willing to offer “proof and authority in support” of the abuse claims. Reports further said that Jolie said she is prepared to detail her negative experiences with Pitt, during their 10-year relationship and two-year marriage.

Jolie and Pitt have six children. Besides, 19-year-old Maddox, there is Pax, 17, and Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12.

Jolie, 45, and Pitt, 57, have been embroiled in a bitter custody and divorce battle since Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, ending their jet-setting, movie star lifestyle together that made them one of Hollywood’s superstar couples.

Soon after the couple’s split, it was revealed that Pitt was being investigated by the FBI and child welfare services in Los Angeles, related to reports he got “verbally abusive and physical with his children” on a private jet returning from Europe. A number of reports claimed that Maddox was the main focus of Pitt’s aggression on the flight. However, the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services cleared Pitt in November 2016 after investigating the actor.
