    The drama ‘Sinf-e-Aahan’ has touched the hearts of many, especially young girls who see it as a beacon of inspiration. It has been praised for its portrayal of strong, driven women and has inspired many people to follow their dreams and have big dreams. This powerful impact was evident in a recent incident involving a qteenage girl and her favorite actress, Kubra Khan.
     
     
    Thirteen-year-old Laiba left her home to meet Kubra Khan without telling her parents. The girl said,“Kubra Khan is my idol, and I left my house to meet her.”
    The girl told police that she was motivated by her love for Kubra’s performances, particularly in Sinf-e-Aahan. The police, understanding the innocence of her actions, facilitated her safe return home with the assistance of the Punjab police.
      
    The girl was located by the police using CCTV footage. With some cash in hand, the girl left her house and caught a train to Karachi. Her brother filed a complaint with the police, claiming that his sister had been abducted.
      
    Kubra Khan was informed about the incident in London. She posted a story on her Instagram account about the incident: “So I’m in London, and this was just brought to my attention. I am at a loss of words. I love and appreciate all the love I receive from all my Kuberians. However, I need you guys to understand that your safety is the utmost important thing. The world is scarier than it used to be and I would never EVER want anyone to put themselves in a place of danger because of me. I pray and hope the little girl is safe and sound with her family. P.S. . once I’m back, I’m over-due for a Meet and greet in Lahore. Till then… please stay safe.”

    Assailants reveal sinister motive of firing at Salman Khan’s home

    The Mumbai Police has finished their interrogation of the people who shot at Bollywood star Salman Khan’s house.

    According to reports from Indian media, the two gunmen who fired at Salman Khan’s house in Mumbai’s Bandra area were caught in Bhoj, Gujarat. Both of them are from Bihar area in Gujarat state.

    Unit 9 of India’s Crime Branch completed the investigation and gave the report to the local court, revealing that the gunmen wanted to kill the Bollywood superstar. After opening fire, they threw their guns into the Surat river.

    Now, the police want the court to keep the two suspects for 14 days to find out who planned the attack. Earlier, the suspects were already with the police for nine days.

    The suspects told the police they shot at Salman Khan’s house because gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who’s in jail, paid them to do it.
    The police told the media the suspects didn’t want to hurt Salman Khan or his family, but to scare people.

    Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Prisons Minister Colonel (retd) Abaidullah Baig has returned home after being abducted by militants on Friday while en route to Skardu from Islamabad.

    According to police, the minister was travelling with two foreigners when abducted by terrorists.

    Geo News’ sources have said that the kidnappers had demanded the release of their jailed accomplices.

    Earlier, former GB government spokesperson Faizullah told Geo News that he has spoken to the minister and talks were underway for the release. He had said he was present at the Jirga where negotiations were held with the kidnappers.

    Faizullah said that the militants had kept Baig and his companions in a house for six hours. They were released at 3am after negotiations.

    Baig was elected from Hunza 6 on a PTI ticket and he is a member of the GB Legislative Assembly since 2020.

    ‘Clearly I’m home’: Saqlain Mushtaq shares video with daughters putting clips on his beard

    Interim head coach of the national cricket team, Saqlain Mushtaq, recently shared a video on his social media in which he can be seen sitting on a couch and his daughters are putting small clips on his beard and hair.

    Sharing the video on Twitter, the former Pakistan spinner wrote: “Clearly… I’m home after a long three months of cricket serving the great Pakistan.”

    The former Test off-spinner was appointed as the interim head coach after Misbah-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis resigned from their posts. He was appointed only for the New Zealand home series, which was cancelled after the visiting team left Pakistan before playing any match. The Black Caps backed out of its tour due to security concerns minutes before the first match was scheduled to start at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

    Mushtaq was asked to continue in his role for the T20 Men’s World Cup as well as the series against Bangladesh and West Indies.

    Under Mushtaq’s tenure, Pakistan began an unbeaten run in the T20 World Cup till they were eliminated in the semi-final. Recently, the Men in Green also defeated Bangladesh on their home ground. While the national side also defeated West Indies with a clean sweep in the three-match T20I series in Karachi.

    Shahnawaz Dahani is back home with ‘naughty nephew’ after T20 win

    Pakistan’s young pacer Shahnawaz Dahani, who recently made a debut against Bangladesh in the third match of the three-match T20I series, is happy to be back home with his family and “naughty nephew”.

    “Back to home, Larkana. Happy to be with my naughty nephew,” Dahani tweeted, alongside an image of a cheerful boy whom he was holding up.

    Dahani took his maiden international wicket during the series, in the third fixture.

    He clean bowled Bangladesh’s Najmul Hossain Shanto on the third ball of his first over, hitting the base of the batter’s middle stump to knock the bails off.

    He went on to bowl three overs in the match, giving away 24 runs.

    Prior to the match, Dahani expressed his joy on his debut in a tweet, saying: “Alhamdulillah,I am going to represent my country today. I am extremely happy and excited to play in green. All this happened due to prayers of my mother. Thank you everyone for loving me and supporting me, and Pray that I make my country proud.”

    Dahani also spoke to his mother before the match, seeking her prayers.

    A baby thought to be the world’s smallest at birth has been discharged from a Singapore hospital after 13 months of intensive care, BBC reported.

    Kwek Yu Xuan weighed only 212g, the weight of an apple, when she was born with the height of 24cm.

    She was delivered at just under 25 weeks, which is very early of the average 40 weeks.

    According to the University of Iowa’s Tiniest Babies Registry, the girl who previously held a record was a girl in the US who weighed 245g at birth in 2018.

    Yu Xuan’s mother gave birth to her by emergency C-section four months early after she was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia — dangerously high blood pressure that can damage vital organs and be fatal for both mother and baby.

    Yu Xuan now weighs a much healthier 6.3kg (14 pounds).

    The baby girl had a “limited chance of survival”, according to Singapore’s National University Hospital (NUH) where she was born.

    “Against the odds, with health complications present at birth, she has inspired people around her with her perseverance and growth, which makes her an extraordinary ‘Covid-19’ baby — a ray of hope amid turmoil,” the hospital said in a statement.

    Yu Xuan was given multiple kinds of treatment and relied on different kinds of machines to survive.

    Doctors say her health and development went well under their care and she is now healthy enough to be discharged.

    Yu Xuan still has chronic lung disease and will need help with her breathing at home. However, doctors say she is expected to get better with time.

    Yu Xuan’s parents were able to pay for her treatment through a crowdfunding campaign that raised $366,884 (Rs 44,522,019).

    Sarah Khan has shared that she has returned home from the hospital and is doing better. The actor had recently been admitted to the hospital after contracting typhoid.

    The actor shared a short clip with the caption “Ramzan Mubarak. Karachi 2021” to update her fans on her health. In the clip, Sarah can be seen lying down with her husband Falak Shabbir’s hand on her face.

    Khan had earlier been hospitalised due to ill health. Her manager had confirmed to The Current that the actor has contracted typhoid due to which she had to be admitted to the hospital.

    Sarah’s husband, Falak Shabbir was the first to share the news of his wife’s ill-health, posting a picture of Sarah lying on a hospital bed on Wednesday.

    “She is unwell,” Falak had said in the caption.

    A must read for all: How Democracies Die

    On World Democracy day, (and even if it wasn’t) the one book that every Pakistani should read is How Democracies Die by two Harvard professors, Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt.

    Even though the book refers primarily to the Trump administration and how the United States is starting to kill its own democracy, it has got pages and chapters which are so starkly similar to our past and present, that it will shock you.

    The book, written in 2018, talks about how countries that are democratic have systems in place to do ‘democracy checks’. These systems, some unofficial, make sure that countries do not elect individuals, or parties that go against the core belief of their country’s value system. And if there are times when people with power arise to challenge this system, ruling parties and oppositions, stick together for the greater good to keep them out.

    They discuss the rise of authoritarian regimes and how they played the game to get into power, the rise and selection of Hitler and then focus on how America, a country that has historically managed to keep true to its system, is now deteriorating.

    The book is simply written and easy to understand. It explains, very simply, how democracies start to rot and then slowly die, as elected officials and people in power ask citizens to stand up against democratically-elected governments, the media is censored and also indulges in self-censorship and then rules are changed to suit the will of a few than the hope of many.

    The book is a must read for everyone who wants to understand how countries evolve and devolve. The book says that, ” History doesn’t repeat itself. But it rhymes.,” and the reason why we need to read it is to know that when that is happening. “The promise of history is that we can find the rhymes before it is too late”.

    ‘Parey Hut Love’ has more stars than you can count

    The trailer of Asim Raza’s much-awaited romantic drama Parey Hut Love released Friday and the one thing that caught our attention was the plethora of stars in the film.

    Apart from the star-studded lead cast which includes Sheheryar Munawar, Maya Ali, Zara Noor Abbas, Ahmad Ali Butt, Hina Dilpazeer and Freiha Altaf, there were glimpses of Mahira Khan, Meera, Fawad Khan, Cybil Chowdry and Sonya Jehan in the film.

    And given that it’s an Asim Raza venture, we’re pretty sure there’ll be plenty of more cameos.

    The three-minute trailer was fun, colourful, festive and glamourous and the premise of the film appears to be shaadi – no points for guessing that.
