Pakistan is one of the least competitive tourist destinations

The Travel and Tourism Competitive Index 2019 released by the World Economic Forum has ranked Pakistan at number 121 out of 140 countries. Pakistan has jumped up 3 spots – it was ranked at number 125 in the last edition which was two years ago.

According to the report, the country is one of the least competitive in South Asia in terms of travel and tourism. This means that Pakistan needs to improve its tourist service infrastructure, safety, security and better health and hygiene, among other things.

However, the report also stated that Pakistan had made considerable improvements as far as the human resources and labour market of the tourism industry is concerned.

Meanwhile, Spain topped the list. It was followed by France, Germany, Japan and the United States in the top 5. India ranked at number 34.

The Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI), that covered 140 economies, measures the set of factors and policies that enable the sustainable development of travel and tourism sector which contributes to the development and competitiveness of a country.

Despite this, relaxation in the visa policy and the influx of popular influencers has changed the perspective of foreigners who are looking at Pakistan as an exotic tourist destination.

Earlier this year, The Telegraph had named Pakistan as tourism’s next big thing while UAE’s Gulf News carried a special report which shared world-renowned travel bloggers positive experiences in Pakistan.

British tourist bites a chicken seller in Morocco; video goes viral

A video of a British tourist harassing a chicken seller for keeping chickens in a cage has sparked outrage in Morocco.

The tourist was caught on camera yelling and biting a chicken vendor in Morocco, sparking a debate about local customs and privileged tourists.

The minute-long clip was taken in a marketplace in Tangier and shows a woman with a British accent surrounded by locals as they try to stop her breaking the seller’s cages with chickens in it. The woman launched a foul-mouthed rant while pushing and shoving at locals. After calling the locals illiterate, she climbed on top of the plastic chicken cage and tried to wrench it open, before biting a trader’s hand.

In a second video, the woman tries to punch the chicken seller in the face before trying to grab at the cages again. She thrashes at anyone trying to stop her before the video cuts off.

Following a lengthy struggle, she was eventually detained by the crowd and handed over to the police, who reportedly took her to a hospital to be treated for ‘hysteria’ rather than arrest her.

The incident has caused outrage in Morocco, with some accusing the woman of a contemptuous attitude to the local culture.

Aamir Liaqat, Adnan Sami call each other ‘pimples’ on Twitter

Aamir Liaqat and Adnan Sami are among those people who are always in the news because of their controversial comments. The two recently came face to face on Twitter and the end result is cringe and hilarious at the same time.

It all started when a Twitter user tweeted to ask Abhinandan if the tea was fantastic.

Adnan Sami, being the patriotic he is, jumps in to tell people about Wing Commander Abhinandan’s “achievements.”

Aamir Bhai was not having any of that so he decided to set the facts right.

This did not go down well with Adnan Sami, who responded with a tweet that only he understood.

Turns out Aamir was able to make some sense of Adnan’s tweet, so he fired back with an equally fiery tweet.

One would have thought that after the two called each other pimples, things would have settled. But no. Adnan decided he had not had enough so he posted another tweet, which he later deleted. But Aamir’s reply is still there.

We wonder why Aamir Bhai called Adnan “my frustrated eunuch!”

  • Five lessons from billionaire Warren Buffett on how to be successful

Five lessons from billionaire Warren Buffett on how to be successful

The world’s third-richest man Warren Buffett turned 89 on Friday. Here are five valuable pieces of advice on how to be successful from the investing legend himself.

    Marry the right person

According to Buffett, the most important decision of your life is choosing your life partner.

At the 2009 Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting, Buffett said, “Marry the right person. I’m serious about that. It will make more difference in your life. It will change your aspirations, all kinds of things.”

    Invest in yourself

“By far the best investment you can make is in yourself,” Buffett says.

“Take care of your body and mind — especially when you’re young…You get exactly one mind and one body in this world, and you can’t start taking care of it when you’re 50. By that time, you’ll rust it out if you haven’t done anything.”

    Associate yourself with ‘high-grade people’

“One of the best things you can do in life is to surround yourself with people who are better than you are,” Buffet said in 2015. He explained that when you’re around people better than yourself, you’ll start acting more like them. Conversely, if you hang around with people who behave worse than you, you’ll start being pulled in that direction.

    Work for people you respect

“Try to work for whomever you admire most,” Buffett says.

Buffett says that while salary is an important factor when thinking about your career, you shouldn’t go for a job just for the money. It is also important to consider the experience you’ll gain from it.

    Success isn’t measured by money

Despite being one of the richest people in the world, Buffett doesn’t use wealth as a measure of success. For him, it all comes down to relationships and love.

“Being given unconditional love is the greatest benefit you can ever get,” Buffett told MBA students in a 2008 talk.
