    Till death do us part: Lahore woman kills boyfriend for marrying someone else

    A young woman allegedly shot dead her boyfriend for marrying someone else in Lahore’s Raiwind area.

    As per details, the women, identified as Fiza, killed the deceased Muddasar in the street after chasing him on a motorcycle through the market area.

    The police, who have arrested the suspect, said that initial investigation revealed that Mudassar had promised to marry Fiza. Fiza, a divorcee, had convinced her parents for her second marriage. Meanwhile, Mudassar cheated on Fiza and married someone else which irked Fiza who then hatched a plan to kill him with the help of two other friends.

    On Tuesday, when Mudassar was going to market with his brother on a motorbike, an armed Fiza started chasing them with her accomplices. As Mudassar and his brother approached their home, Fiza opened fire on them. A bullet hit Mudasar in the chest killing him on the spot.

    The police have lodged a murder case against Fiza, who surrendered herself to the police along with the murder weapon.

    The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made it mandatory for citizens to show their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC) for purchases over Rs50,000.

    According to reports, the said purchases shall be made from a registered sales tax vendor, while in case of a female buyer, the CNIC of her husband or father would also be acceptable.

    The development comes as the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) tightens the noose around undocumented individuals making purchases without paying taxes.

    According to Dawn, all such measures are primarily aimed at bringing small, medium and even some large retailers into the sales tax net. FBR further states that transactions under ‘good faith’ will not be penalised.

    “No action will be undertaken without the approval of the chief commissioner of the jurisdiction.”

    Furthermore, where the incidence exceeds Rs5 million, the action will require further approval of member operation or director general (export-oriented sector). No action will be taken unless it has been undertaken against the person who has used a fake CNIC, reports said.

    This condition will help avoid unverifiable and fictitious business buyers which results in huge sales tax losses.

    According to the reports, Sajid Khan posted a short video with a pistol and some desi music on TikTok. He was holding an illegal pistol in that video.

    The Police, on the instructions of  DPO Jhelum, have prisoned him for illegal possession of a 30-bore pistol after a private news channel pointed out the violation of the law.

    Manjunath Naidu, an Indian stand up comedian complained of a high level of anxiety, sat down on the bench and collapsed onto the floor and audience thought that it was part of his act.

    According to the reports he went on stage and was making people laugh with his stories. He was talking about his father and family. And then he got into a story of how he suffers from anxiety. While sharing a story of his suffering due to the anxiety he collapsed. The audience took it as a joke as he was already talking about anxiety. The paramedics could not revive him. His parents passed away and he has a brother but no relatives here. All in the arts and comedy circle were his family.

    CAA takes back decision to plastic-wrap all luggage

    After severe backlash, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has withdrawn the decision that made it compulsory for air travelers to plastic-wrap their checked luggage.

    Notifying the compulsion, CAA had said it was implemented for the safety of passengers and the price for wrapping each piece of baggage was set at Rs50.

    New wrapping machines were to also be installed at airport check-in areas, however, the decision was severely criticised by travelers as well as environmentalists, which led to the reversion.

    Ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Jahangir Tareen was among those who criticised the notification.

    Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari notified the withdrawal on Twitter saying that it was never a federal government decision as it was not discussed by the cabinet.

    Meanwhile, Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Wazir has posted a video clarifying that the wrapping was mandatory only for Hajj flights as it was a requirement of the government of Saudi Arabia.

    Nonetheless, media reports from Karachi are saying that a weird, mysterious creature has been spotted in Shershah scrap market sparking fear among traders who have businesses there. Traders are now closing their shops earlier than before.

    The guard who has seen this creature claims that this creature is approximately 5 feet tall and dark-coloured with two glowing eyes. He recounted that this started about eight days ago when he was fulfilling his duties outside a warehouse. He said that he heard dogs barking nearby and got up from his chair to see what was going on. As he walked towards where the noise was coming from, Gulzar said that he felt a strange sensation before he spotted a “strange creature.” He immediately ran away. Gulzar said he has been working as a watchman for the last 25 years but has never seen anything like this before.

    Local initially believed that Gulzar was making up stories, but the next day, another watchman, Abdul Qayyum, claimed to have spotted the creature as he was taking a round of the area. This has sparked fear and panic among the locals.

    Shopkeepers also believe that this creature is killing their animals and sucking their blood. They have submitted their reports and concerns to the local police station.

    Meanwhile, some people believe that this is just an elaborate plan to scare the locals. Whatever the matter may be, it does sound a little eerie.

    Meanwhile, Microsoft founder Bill Gates remains the world’s most admired man. He tops the list every time YouGov conducts a survey.

    Want to edit media files you send or receive on WhatsApp? You’ll be able to do a lot more than cutting down on duration and adding text to pictures. The Quick Edit feature will allow you to make changes to files you get or send and share them directly.

    3. SHARE FACEBOOK STORIES

    In what seems like hope to get more users to engage with Facebook Stories, WhatsApp will now let users share a story on Whatsapp directly from their Facebook accounts. No news yet if it’s going to be available for Instagram as well. incorporated for Facebook stories initially. 

    4. MORE INFO ON FORWARDED MESSAGES

    Constantly spammed with “forwarded as received” messages, especially on family groups? In a much needed feature, if a message is forwarded more than five times, it will now have a “frequently forwarded” label. WhatsApp will also notify users how often the message has been forwarded, in hope of controlling the spread of rumours and false information (Uncles and Aunties might not be too happy about this one).

    5. QR CODE

    Users will be able to add a new contact using a QR code directly. Every user will have a unique code (similar to nametags on Instagram) and you can share your code with oders (so it’s easier for them to add you)

    Heavy rain causes Lahore Fort’s entrance gate to collapse

    Heavy rains in Lahore didn’t just disrupt the flow of traffic yesterday but have also caused the main entrance gate of historical Shahi Qila to collapse.

    According to details, continuous rain and accumulation of rainwater damaged the small wooden gate of the historical Lahore fort, causing it to collapse. The door is part of the Roshnai Gate which opens into the Food Street. The door was built during colonial rule.

    After reports of the door collapsing made rounds on media, the Walled City Authority was quick to point out that the Roshani Gate itself is intact, but the small entrance gate has come unhinged due to the rain.

    WLCA officials said that the door collapsed due to the accumulation of water in the food street and that it will be restored as soon as possible.

    The historical Lahore Fort was declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 1981. It one of the oldest and biggest Mughal structure in the subcontinent. It continues to attract visitors from far and wide and is central to Lahore’s history and culture.
