Following local vehicle manufacturers in Pakistan, Pak Suzuki Motors Company Limited (PSMCL) has announced a hefty price hike for their whole lineup. The new charges are effective immediately (May 9, 2022).
Suzuki’s flagship hatchback, the Suzuki Swift GLX CVT, has received a price increase of Rs129,000 in its prior price of Rs3,169,000. The recently introduced vehicle now costs Rs3,298,000.
After a price rise of Rs100,000 from its previous price of Rs2,662,000, the Suzuki Cultus AGS will now be available for Rs2,762,000.
The price of the Suzuki Bolan AC variant has increased by Rs45,000 from its previous price of Rs1,370,000. Bolan is presently on the market for Rs1,415,000.
Suzuki Alto VXL AGS, the automaker’s best-selling vehicle, will now be available for Rs1,951,000, up to Rs65,000 from its previous price of Rs1,886,000.
Pakistan’s top two-wheeler manufacturer, Atlas Honda has announced another significant price hike for its motorcycles which is Honda’s third price increase in less than five months.
Honda CD70, the country’s most popular two-wheeler, is now priced at Rs102,900, after an increase of Rs3000. The 100cc Honda Pridor following the increase will be sold for 139,000 after an increase of Rs3000 in its old price of Rs136,900, while the iconic Honda 125 is now priced at Rs163,500 after a hike of Rs4000 in its prior cost.
The price of the Honda CB 150 SE increased by Rs8,000, bringing the total price to Rs303,900, up from Rs295,900 previously.
Pakistan’s two-wheeler industry has achieved over 90 per cent localization, according to the Ministry of Industries and Production’s (MOIP) latest report. This means that the majority of a motorbike’s structural and mechanical components are manufactured in Pakistan, with only a few foreign parts.
Despite this, all companies continue to raise their bike pricing without introducing or incorporating any advancement, putting them out of reach for the majority of local consumers.
Honda has finally debuted the long-awaited City hybrid sedan in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price of the 2022 Honda City Hybrid e:HEV is 1.9 million INR (PKR 4.7 million). It’s only available in a single ZX model with all of the bells and whistles.
Last year, the new City Hybrid made its global premiere, and it is India’s first mainstream segment automobile to have robust hybrid technology.
Powertrain
The City e:powertrain HEV’s consists of a 1.5-liter Atkinson-Cycle DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine combined with two electric motors. One serves as an electric generator, while the other serves as a propeller. The combined output of this powerplant is 124 horsepower, with a peak torque of 253 Nm. It also comes with three driving modes: EV Drive, Hybrid Drive, and Engine Drive, as well as Regeneration mode for slowing.
Fuel economy
The new Honda City Hybrid e:HEV is India’s most fuel-efficient sedan, with a stated economy of 26.50 kmpl. Honda has also included 37 high-tech Honda Connect features in the vehicle. Honda’s Sensing Technology is also being introduced for the first time in India.
Safety technologies such as Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, and more are included in the City e:HEV.
After the 6th generation, Honda City was retired globally, Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan Limited (HACPL) introduced the latter into the Pakistani auto market, and given the history of Pakistani manufacturers, the car may continue for years, as the 5th generation Honda City was sold by Honda Atlas for more than a decade.
In the 1990s, Poland-based Alpha Technology produced this miniature Mercedes SL 500, which was marketed at Mercedes Benz dealerships and select toy stores. This one, on the other hand, was kept in a wooden crate for years before being purchased by its present owner last year.
It is powered by a 97cc Honda single-cylinder engine with a two-speed gearbox with reverse and has a black body meant to look like the R129 500SL. It offers a black vinyl interior, rear mechanical disc brakes, a handbrake, a gearbox, and three pedals.
It boasts coil springs at all four corners, a 12-volt electrical system, a hinged trunk, and a four-spoke steering wheel, despite the fact that it is essentially a go-kart. Steel Gullideckel-style wheels with 135.00–6 Duro bias-ply tyres are also included.
A multi-disc wet clutch transmits power from the 2.5 horsepower (1.8 kW/2.53 PS) engine to the rear wheels. The electrical system operates the lights and the horn, and it has a 1.4-liter (0.3-gallon) fuel tank.
The convertible seems to be in good shape, owing to the duration of time it spent in a box, the lack of use has resulted in atrophy. According to the listing, some mechanical maintenance will be required before the go-kart can run as intended.

Honda’s mini-SUV, the HR-V is finally approaching its second generation. The upcoming model will have some significant upgrades from styling to engine performance.
It will be bulkier, futuristic, and more powerful than the previous model, with better looks than the smaller, hybrid-only European variant introduced in 2021.
VEZEL and HR-V confusion
For those who may not know, the original name for ‘Honda Vezel’ is ‘Honda HR-V’. This hybrid vehicle has become quite famous in Pakistan for its good looks and impressive fuel consumption despite being an expensive completely built-up (CBU) unit. It is mostly witnessed with a ‘Vezel’ badging instead of ‘HR-V’ here.
The Japanese automaker said that the new subcompact SUV will be based on the same platform as the international Honda Civic variants. It has a longer wheelbase than before, and the rear suspension is now independent.
One important thing Honda revealed about the powertrain is that it will be a more responsive engine as compared to the prior one, which might be the Civic’s 180-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four, replacing the existing HR-V’s 141-horsepower 1.8-liter inline-four.
The HR-V’s engine for the base model could be the naturally aspirated 158-hp 2.0-liter inline-four from the Civic’s lower trim levels. Front-wheel drive will almost certainly be standard, with all-wheel drive as an option, and a CVT automatic transmission will almost certainly be the only transmission option. A hybrid HR-V is also expected to enter the lineup, though it may arrive later than the fuel-only model.
Honda has not officially revealed any photographs or details of the HR-V’s interior, however, it will be exciting to see how the new platform will affect its packaging. As the fuel tank was positioned behind the front seats, the previous HR-V, like the Fit, had a surprisingly low cargo floor.
The LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L variants from the current model are anticipated to continue over. Honda also published a video showcasing the new HR-V in a variety of colours, including red, silver, black, and white. Unfortunately, there is no official statement released by the company regarding its price and availability in other regions.

Suzuki Pakistan has announced a massive price increase for its entire motorcycle lineup, following Yamaha and Honda. The new prices are effective from Friday, April 1, 2022.
The biggest price increase has been announced for the 150cc GR-150 variant, which is now priced at Rs330,000 after getting a massive hike of Rs15,000 in its previous cost of Rs315,000. Considering the size of its engine, this is unquestionably a significant and unjustified increase.
Suzuki GS-150, one of the most prominent bike in Suzuki’s lineup witnessed a hike of Rs10,000 for both variants (GS-150 and GS-150SE). The base GS-150 costs Rs225,000 after the hike and the upper variant GS-150SE is now priced at Rs242,000, as compared to their earlier prices of Rs215,000 and Rs232,000.
Moreover, the 110cc variant, Suzuki GD-110s which was previously sold at Rs199,000 will now be offered at Rs207,000, after getting a hike of Rs8,000.
The motorcycle manufacturer raised the prices of its motorcycles four times in 2021, and this is the first price rise of 2022. Suzuki motorcycle prices were increased by up to Rs28,000 between January and December 2021.
Bike manufacturers’ pricing hikes have pushed two-wheelers out of reach for most of the country’s population. Despite the fact that the matter has been raised numerous times in the media, the government has yet to take a step in this regard and maintain pricing consistency.
Ghandhara Nissan Limited (GNL) has officially opened bookings for Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, introduced with an ex-factory price of Rs 4.6 million and Rs 6.6 million respectively.
The booking price of Tiggo 8 Pro is Rs 1.5 million and that of Tiggo 4 Pro is Rs 1 million and the expected delivery time for both models is June 2022.
The company partnered with Chinese Chery Automobile Co Ltd. for local assembly and distribution of the Tiggo SUV series in 2021. Chery Tiggo will now be the 12th locally assembled SUV in Pakistan.
GNL said it had started assembling the SUVs and would be delivering the first batch of the vehicles in April at its authorized dealerships. Chery Tiggo 4 is a 1.5L Turbo five-seater vehicle, while Tiggo 8 Pro is a 1.6L Turbo seven-seater SUV.
Considering the Auto Development Policy (ADP) 2016-21, Toyota Fortuner was the only locally assembled SUV in Pakistan.
However, nearly a dozen SUVs were introduced after the auto industry was encouraged by the government and new entrants started stepping into the local auto market of Pakistan.
Tiggo 8 Pro will compete against 7-seater vehicles in the local market, including the most popular Toyota Fortuner, and the offerings from new entrants: Changan Oshan X7 Comfort, DFSK Glory 580 Pro, as well as Kia Sorento. While the Tiggo 4 Pro will be a direct rival to 5-seater crossovers like KIA Stonic, MG ZS, and the newly introduced Peugeot 2008.
Following the price hike trend by several automakers in Pakistan, Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) has increased the prices of all cars by Rs 250,000 to Rs 400,000. The new prices announced by Honda are effective from today, March 26, 2022.
Considering the flagship and most popular sedan from Honda, the new Honda Civic 2022 1.5L Turbo M-CVT, Oriel 1.5L Turbo M-CVT, and RS 1.5L Turbo LL-CVT will now cost Rs 5.399 million, Rs 5.649 million, and Rs 6.499 million, after the hike of Rs 300,000, Rs 250,000 and Rs 350,000 respectively.
Top variants of Honda City, including City 1.5L CVT, 1.5L City Aspire Manual, and 1.5L Aspire CVT now cost Rs 3.446m, Rs 3.579 million, and Rs 3.749 million, after a jump of Rs 295,000 to Rs 300,000.
The new price of Honda City 1.2L MT and CVT variant is Rs 3.129 million and Rs 3.249 million, which saw a surge of Rs 400,000 and Rs 300,000 respectively. After an increase of Rs 390,000, Honda’s MPV BR-V CVT S is now priced at Rs 4.079 million.
It is worth noting that the retail price is applicable on orders made till November 2021 as well as full payment received by March 31. The current retail price is also applicable on back order and full payment till March 24 with expected delivery in June.
Moreover, Honda revealed that 50 per cent of the price increase would be applicable on back order with expected delivery till June and full payment received till April 30.
Three prominent automakers in Pakistan including Suzuki, Honda, and Hyundai are expected to announce a price hike within two weeks, due to the depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar and rising prices of imported raw materials.
Analysts expect car prices to increase by up to 15 per cent. It is worth noting that Pak Suzuki and Kia Lucky Motors have already announced a price hike for their vehicles.
Experts predict that more auto assemblers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) are expected to jump on the price hike bandwagon.
Considering the imminent price hike, Suzuki Bolan may witness an increase of Rs. 172,000 in its current price of Rs. 1.17 million, which will cost Rs. 1.35 million after the hike.
The all-new Honda Civic Vti Oriel 2022 which costs Rs. 5.4 million is expected to be priced at Rs. 6.2 million after a massive increase of Rs. 810,000 in its current price.
Hyundai’s only sedan, the 2.0 Hyundai Elantra GLS after getting the expected hike will cost Rs. 5.1 million as compared to its current price of Rs. 4.4 million.
