Humayun Saeed responds to being part of ‘Money Heist’

The phenomenal success of Meray Paas Tum Ho has put Humayun Saeed on another level so much so that reports started circulating that the actor was chosen to be part of the award-winning Money Heist Season 4.

The rumours soon gained traction and everyone started getting excited about the prospect of a Pakistani actor in the series. But turns out that the report was a work of satire and Humayun will not be part of Money Heist‘s season four.

However, Humayun said that he will one day make his own Money Heist. That should be fun?

Meanwhile, Humayun has started shooting his next film, London Nahi Jaunga, in Bahawalpur. The film has been written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and will be directed by Nadeem Baig. Apart from Humayun, the film’s cast also includes Mehwish Hayat, Kubra Khan and Gohar Rasheed. It is scheduled to release on Eid ul Azha.

Fawad Chaudhry says petition against Humayun Saeed is ‘shugal’

Meray Paas Tum Ho has ended but the drama sure hasn’t.

Recently, a petition was filed in the SHC against the drama in which the petitioner Sana Saleem alleged that the script, penned by the controversial Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, contained derogatory language when talking about women. Saleem wanted the writer, actor and producer to apologise for this.

In addition, the petitioner also objected to the fact that “a divorced couple were living together” and “a six-year-old was playing matchmaker between his father and a school teacher”.

SHC’s Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed and Justice Muhammad Ali Azhar, who heard the petition on Wednesday, directed all respondents including the federal government, PEMRA and the drama’s makers to submit their replies by February 13. They also directed Humayun Saeed to ensure that he present at the next hearing to explain himself in person.

While Humayun himself has not commented on the matter, former minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to criticise the petition saying that “nothing can justify this notice”.

Fawad was not the only one who believed the situation to be absurd.

Despite its flaws, Meray Paas Tum Ho, starring Humayun Saeed, Ayeza Khan, Adnan Siddiqui and Hira Mani, went onto becoming television’s highest-rated dramas of all time. The final episode of the drama was also aired in cinemas where it broke box-office records.

Earlier, the minister had also congratulated the team for their success and requested Amazon and Netflix to review Pakistani content.

Before the final episode was aired, a petition was also filed in Lahore’s civil court to stop it from being aired. The petitioner, Maham, had filed a plea to stop the release of the last episode because it has had a “negative impact and continues to degrade the status of women in our society”.

However, after examining statements and documents from representatives of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and ARY Digital, Civil Judge Naila Ayub dismissed the petition and said that show had received clearance from the censor board of Punjab to screen in cinemas so there was nothing inappropriate in it.

SHC orders Humayun Saeed to explain ‘Meray Paas Tum Ho’s ‘offensive’ dialogues ‘in person’

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned Humayun Saeed to appear “in person” and explain the offensive dialogues in Meray Paas Tum Ho.

According to a report in Samaa News, a petition was filed in the SHC against the drama in which the petitioner Sana Saleem alleged that the script, penned by the controversial Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, contained derogatory language when talking about women. Saleem wanted the writer, actor and producer to apologise for this.

Saleem’s lawyer, Munir Gulal, argued that a line from the show had become quite popular, hurting the reputation of women in the process.

Though ARY and PEMRA’s lawyers were present in court, Justice Azhar questioned why Humayun did not appear before the court. The hearing was adjourned till February 13 after ARY’s lawyer ensured that the actor would appear before the court.

Despite becoming TV’s highest-rated drama of all time, Meray Paas Tum Ho, starring Humayun Saeed, Ayeza Khan, Hira Mani and Adnan Siddiqui, drew the irk of some viewers who criticised the drama for promoting misogyny and sexism.

Earlier, a petition was filed in Lahore’s civil court to stop the last episode of the drama from being aired. The petitioner, Maham, had filed a plea to stop the release of the last episode because it has had a “negative impact and continues to degrade the status of women in our society”.

MPTH fever: Video shows Mufti Qavi praying for Danish to be granted Jannah

With Mere Paas Tum Ho (MPTH) fever continuing to grip the masses even two days after its finale, Mufti Qavi has been spotted praying for Danish (played by Humayun Saeed), who died of a cardiac arrest in the last episode of the hit show that ended Saturday.

As per the details, a video doing rounds over the internet showed the cleric, who is not new to controversy, praying for the MPTH protagonist, who died after a chat with his wife (played by Ayeza Khan).

The finale showed Danish returning to see his wife when his old house reminds him of the bitter memories when she left him for affluent businessman Shahvar (played by Adnan Siddiqui). He then suffers a heart attack and later passes away at a hospital, leaving fans devastated.

Qavi’s viral video on Monday showed him receiving a phone call over which he is informed of Danish’s death. “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un [Indeed, to God we belong and to God we shall return],” he can be heard as saying in response, telling the “woman” to call him later since he had to pray for the departed soul.

“God, please grant Danish, who has just passed away, the highest rank in Jannah. Bless him with more than what he had here… with more hoors [companions of paradise] than he had here […] And grant the girl, who just called me, the strength to bear the loss…” the cleric can be heard as saying while crying and praying for the fictional character.

‘Meray Paas Tum Ho’ has ended but the drama hasn’t

The grand finale of Meray Paas Tum Ho has finally aired putting to rest all speculations over who will die and what will finally happen of Mehwish. While the drama was a phenomenal success, it did stir up controversy with its problematic dialogues and comments by the writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar in his various interviews. The writer was accused of being misogynist and anti-women.

A few days before the finale, upcoming actor, Rehmat Ajmal, who plays Danish (Humayun Saeed) and Mehwish’s (Ayeza Khan) friend Aisha in the drama, said that she is “not proud to be part of something that is so compromising and ill-informed”.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote the message on her public account, saying that she watched Qamar’s interview and “got to know about his problematic views on very many things WAY after the project was completed” and that “I absolutely do not endorse the concepts and viewpoints of Mr Khalil Ul Rehman”.

Following Rehmat’s decision to distance herself from the show, Musaddiq Malik, who is the Associate Director of the play, and also plays Monty in the drama lashed out at Rehmat for “pulling a publicity stunt”.

He explained that “no actors were ill-informed about the play” and everyone “knew everything that they are signing up for”. He added that he was hurt by Rehmat’s comments as “a friend and it has got nothing to do with anyone of you nor does anyone have the right to say bad stuff about her”.
