Government ministers openly refusing to obey Supreme Court: Imran Khan

Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has said in a tweet that government ministers are openly refusing to follow the orders of the Supreme Court, calling it the law of the jungle.

“If anyone had any doubts about the law of the jungle prevailing in Pakistan where might is right, all those doubts should be removed after the recent statements of the government ministers openly refusing to obey the SC verdict if its against military courts. It also reflects the PDM’s desperation to avoid elections and hide behind the establishment,” the former Prime Minister wrote in a tweet posted on Saturday afternoon.

After May 9 riots, it has been decided that those involved in the attacks on military installations will be tried in military courts.

Bilawal reminds Imran of the similar US-India statement issued during his time as PM

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday, took to twitter to blame the present government for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United States (US) President Joe Biden’s joint statement that asked Pakistan to stop supporting terrorism.

“Gen Bajwa along with his PDM cronies claimed that I had isolated Pakistan internationally. The question we want to ask him and PDM is that after a year in government and countless trips of Pakistan’s FM to the US, the joint India/US statement reduces Pakistan to a promoter of cross-border terrorism in India and nothing more. No balancing statement about the gross human rights abuse in Kashmir or the appalling treatment of minorities (esp Muslims) in India. So now the imported govt experiment has not just made Pakistan irrelevant internationally but our democracy, rule of law and the entire economic and institutional structure is also collapsing right in front of our eyes,” wrote Imran while sharing the screenshot of the statement.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, in response to Imran Khan’s tweet, shared a screenshot of a US-India joint statement released after the Modi-Trump meeting of 2020, during Imran Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister. The statement issued during Imran Khan’s government and the statement issued this week have identical wording.

Bilawal added a playful emoji in his tweet.

‘Left the party in difficult times’; PTI strikes back at Asad Umar

Asad Umar, former secretary-general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has stirred a hornet’s nest by stating in an interview with ARY’s Kashif Abbasi that he does not agree with party Chairman Imran Khan’s strategies. Umar also criticised the former Prime Minister for not negotiating with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
“I had told Khan, things are not going in the right direction,” he remarked.

“I told Chairman PTI to not close the doors for talk with other stakeholders but he didn’t listen and it is the fundamental reason for me resigning from my party position,” the former Finance Minister told Abbasi.

During the interview Kashif asked Umar if he had gotten any deal offers, to which Asad said that he is getting invitations from the Istehkam-e-Pakistan party.

PTI took exception to Asad Umar’s statement, condemning what he said. The party spokesperson asked Asad Umar that if he had issues with the party’s strategy then why didn’t he leave his position at that time.

“Ambiguity and confusion are evident in Asad Umar’s thoughts; Asad Umar’s claims that he stepped down from the duties of secretary general due to disagreements over the chairman’s strategy appear to contradict reality,” the statement read.

It is further mentioned in the party’s statement that Asad Umar left the party alone in difficult times.

The statement further added that Asad Umar is well aware of the efforts made by PTI to talk to other political parties about national interest.

Pakistan football team may receive Indian Visa today

Members of the Pakistani football team may receive their visas today (Monday) to tour India for participation in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup, scheduled to take place in Bengaluru from June 21 to July 4.

When geo.tv correspondent reached out to All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Secretary General Shaji Parbharkaram about updates on the Pakistan team’s India’s visas, he replied via WhatsApp: “It will be done tomorrow.”

AIFF is doing its best to manage visas for the Pakistan team, who will be going to India after nine years.

According to sources, Pakistan team officials were set to go to India’s High Commission in Mauritius to pick up their passports on Sunday. However, they were told by the PFF Normalisation Committee to wait as AIFF was trying to manage visas for the Pakistan team.

Pakistan team was scheduled to fly for India on Sunday at 11:30am, but it could not do so as the visas were not yet issued.

Team management had told Mauritius football authorities that they would be able to get Indian visas on Monday (today), and they have cooperated in accommodation.

Pakistan team is currently in the same hotel where it was for the four-nation football event, which ended on Saturday.

Djibouti emerged as champions of the event after they downed Pakistan 3-1 in their final game on Saturday.

According to team sources, if on Monday the team fails to get visas, then their further stay in Mauritius might be managed by Pakistan itself, which will be costly.

“You cannot feel in what mental agony we have been for the last three days,” a team source said.

“Everyone is worried whether they will get visas or not,” the source said.

“The players were very excited for the SAFF Cup but the visas issues have put them in deep pain,” the source said.

Sources said if visas are delayed further and if Pakistan moves to India on Tuesday or early Wednesday, then it will be very difficult for the Green Shirts to play their first game against India on June 21.

“If we reach India on June 21 or the night before then the organisers should reschedule our match against India,” a source said.
