Uzma Khan’s sister Huma Khan has submitted a petition in court in which she has cancelled the FIR lodged by Uzma Khan against Malik Riaz’s daughters, Pashmina and Amber, and niece Aamna Usman Malik.
In the application, Huma, under oath said, “I understand my welfare and upcoming future. No such occurrence has been took place. Accused party has not made any torture upon me. I sustained injuries due to fallen of glass from table.”
“The accused persons nominated in the FIR are innocent.”
In an FIR lodged on May 28, Uzma had accused Amber Malik, Pashmina Malik and Aamna Usman of barging into her house with armed guards and threatening and assaulting her. In a press conference, Uzma’s lawyer Mian Ali Ashfaq had explained that the women were guilty of three offences: trespassing, vandalism and criminal intimidation.
Earlier, Uzma’s lawyers Hassaan Khan Niazi and Khadija Siddiqui had disassociated themselves from the case and hinted that the two parties had reached a settlement.
This is to announce that we are disassociating from #UzmaKhan case.I understand the reasons of any settlement by two aggrieved women in a rigged system,my conscience doesn’t allow me to be part of any of that, even in a professional capacity. Struggle against lawlessness continues
We understand our clients’ position, they wanted to get justice but the system allows powerful aggressors to do as they please, with no accountability! I pray that a day will come when law is equal for all. Our fight for justice continues. https://t.co/FEMGZ4RWgz
Ever since Shahroz Sabzwari and Sadaf Kanwal announced their marriage on social media, the entire country seems to be divided over the matter. While on one end people are calling them out for ruining a family given that Shahroz’s seven-year marriage with Syra Yousuf ended just a few months back, on the other end others are urging people to live and let live.
Amidst the brouhaha, Shahroz stepped in and aggressively defended his family and new wife.
In a video message, Shahroz said: “The purpose of this video is to defend myself and my family. And that is my right.” He added that he will defend himself till his last breath because he is an honest man.
“Syra and I got separated in August 2019,” revealed Sabzwari. “The reason behind our split was not another woman nor infidelity nor Sadaf, for that matter. If anyone thinks that the reason behind our separation is cheating or infidelity, I challenge them to come forward and prove it. Phir maza aye ga.”
Talking about his relationship with Sadaf, Shahroz said: “I met Sadaf for work about three to four months after my separation with Syra.”
Referring to an earlier video he had shared in which he had clarified that Sadaf and he were just colleagues, Shahroz said: “The way my first video has been edited and released, I know. But let me be clear. At that point, Sadaf was only my colleague and Syra was my wife, even though we were separated.”
“After that video, Syra and I tried to stop our marriage from breaking but because of irreconcilable differences – which are personal between me and Syra – we had to part ways.”
“I did not want to divorce Syra,” he added. “We separated with dignity.”
Shahroz further shared that he is making this video for his daughter, who “he loves a lot”.
“Maybe a few years down the line, she might come across all that the public has written about me and she will question me. This my answer to her. That I did not give in and fought back,” he said.
Shahroz asserted that he will continue to defend his family and will always tell the truth. He said people advised him to stay silent and let tongues wag but he said he couldn’t let it pass like that.

From the limited details available, it can be understood that the animal had been captured by the locals to take part in a dog fight.
The whole village had gathered for the dog fight, only 5/6 policemen & wildlife staff was there, it’s an extremely secluded corner bordering Balochistan so saving the animal was priority one, will get culprits eventually
Sir the whole village was there dog fight was about to start, give credit to Police, Levies & Wildlife staff who risked their lives being only 5 or 6 in number & still saved the animal, it’s easy to tap on keyboards than actually risking ur skin for a cause
The matter of the captive hyena had come to light after a Twitter account dedicated to saving Pakistan’s wildlife “from the threats of hunting, loss of habitat and pesticides” raised alarm and shared videos of people capturing the hyena. Sharing the location of the incident, they had urged the authorities to take swift action and rescue the animal.
Meanwhile, conservationist Javed Mahar shared some characteristics of the rare animal, called lagar bagar in the local language, and said that they are mostly found in Sindh along the Kirthar National Park.

“The smartphone has transformed online shopping in Pakistan and the COVID-19 lockdown has accelerated it,” says Jarrar Shah of 24seven, an online grocery store based in Lahore.
Shah’s words ring true because the past couple of weeks have witnessed a great shift in the way the world functions. As cases of coronavirus rose in Pakistan, the country went into lockdown, until recently, with all offices, shops, malls, restaurants closed. Only pharmacies, grocery stores and essential businesses were allowed to operate and that too for a limited number of hours. Unfortunately, us Pakistanis are not very used to that lifestyle – our day begins well into the afternoon and ends just before midnight – but changing circumstances forced us all to alter our routines and many of us turned to online shopping in a bid to make life easier for ourselves. According to Google Trends, searches for ‘online grocery’ grew exponentially in the last few weeks with the sharpest rise registered in the week following the lockdown.
While we’re all aware of how online shopping works at our end, on the other side it’s a whole different ball game.
Speaking to The Current about the procedure that follows, Jarrar explained that after the customer places an order on any of their portals – website, application, Whatsapp – the order is processed and their team begins to collect the items. He shared that though they have their own warehouse, they have partnered with other stores, bakeries and meat shops and sometimes depending on the order placed, they have to collect items from different locations to complete an order. Both Jarrar and Bilal Bakhtawari of D Watson, Islamabad said that the app is the most convenient of them all because it mentions the price and availability of products saving the time of both the customers and the stores. Once the order is complete, the riders deliver it.
In this whole process, the rider perhaps has the toughest job.
“We provide the riders with all the necessary precautions, including sanitisers, masks and regular temperature checks, but to what extent can we keep them safe? These guys often have to deliver stuff, come rain, come sun and often have to travel long distances to deliver orders,” says Bilal, adding that if any of the riders feel ill, they are told to immediately get themselves checked and are sent home.
Both Jarrar and Bilal also asserted that their premises are regularly disinfected and cleaned.
While most customers are accommodating and patient and are willing to overlook delays and incomplete orders, given the situation, there is a small percentage of them who tend to be unreasonable.
“Customers have been by and large accommodating. Only ten percent of them have issues,” says Shah.
Both business owners explained that they initially faced problems because they were not prepared to manage such a situation as they went from a few orders to a hundred or more orders every day. However, with time they managed to streamline their services by increasing staff and opting for better rider services.
24Seven’s warehouse
Sharing a particularly harrowing experience, Shah shared that someone placed an order from abroad for their loved ones in Lahore using a credit card.
“When the rider went to deliver they said the stuff is not up to the mark and kept the rider hostage, demanding that we refund them the amount in cash. It turned out that the whole situation was a scam. The person from abroad wanted to send money to Pakistan and because all money wiring services were closed, they attempted to use our store to do so.”
“We’ve referred the matter to the police,” he added.
Similarly, Bilal recounting his nightmarish experience shared that a lady placed an order for fruits and vegetables on their app after store timings. He said that the prices of fresh goods are revised daily and when her order was processed the next day, she was informed of the change in prices before confirming her order. However, when the rider went to deliver her order, she claimed that she had cancelled her order. After a whole fuss, it was revealed that her husband was not satisfied with the prices and was not willing to pay for the order because of which she put the entire blame on the management to try to get out of the situation.
Orders being put together at 24Seven’s warehouse
While people in Pakistan still prefer to go and buy their groceries in person, online shopping is slowly but steadily getting popular, especially among those who lead fast-paced lifestyles and have limited time.
On whether this is feasible in Pakistan or not, Jarrar is positive that it is. However, Bilal feels that until online payments like Paypal don’t come to Pakistan, online businesses won’t flourish.
“As we have observed in the past couple of weeks, the market for online shopping is definitely promising. However, in my opinion, it won’t flourish until a proper payment system is put into place,” says Bilal. “We often receive bogus orders with Cash on Delivery because of which our business suffers. People place orders but when our rider goes to the address, there is no one to receive the order.”
“Until online payments come to Pakistan, online businesses will not flourish.”
She was recently invited as a live caller on Jeeto Pakistan League, where Mahira was the celebrity guest, and while speaking to the host Fahad Mustafa, couldn’t resist roasting her daughter, much to the actor’s surprise.
When Fahad asked Mahira’s mother what Adnan Siddiqui was doing wrong on the show, she replied, “Yeh mujhe nahi pata magar meri beti nihayat confused insaan hai (I don’t know this, but my daughter is a very confused person).”
Her comments sent everyone present into a fit of laughter. But she was still not done roasting Mahira.
She continued, “Yeh jhoot bol rahe hai. Yeh nihayat jhooti insaan hai. She’s just going to confuse you.”
In response, Adnan said, “Thank you Aunty. You made my day.”
Later, when Fahad asked Mahira’s mother what the other celebrity contestant Waseem Badami was doing wrong, she was all praises for him and said she was very fond of him.

I’m pretty sure that this is the umpteenth review on Pyar Ke Sadkay you’re reading because this romantic comedy has been trending all around. The drama has received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike and has gone onto become one of the most popular dramas currently on-air. When the drama first aired, it didn’t really seem like my cup of tea so I skipped watching it and caught a few glimpses here and there, enough for me to understand what the story was about. However, after reading glowing reviews, I decided to jump the bandwagon and give it a watch. And let’s just say two episodes in, I figured out why.
Pyar Ke Sadkay is about two simpletons Abdullah and Mahjabeen who, due to a twist of fate, end up getting married to each other. Abdullah — played by Bilal Abbas Khan — is a shy, under-confident young man who lives in the shadow of his stepfather, Sarwar (Omair Rana). He does anything and everything to win his stepfather’s approval, who uses his simplicity to manipulate him. He is in love with his classmate Shanze (Yashma Gill) who isn’t interested in him (until now) and belittles him when he asks for her hand in marriage. Hence, the ‘aik tarfa pyaar‘. It’s obviously not as intense as the one we saw in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, but just for reference.
Abdullah
On the other hand, Mahjabeen (Yumna Zaidi) is the daughter of an accountant who works in Sarwar’s office. She doesn’t want to study and hopes to get married so she that can avoid giving her matric exams. Mahjabeen is all set to marry Dr Hammad (Khalid Malik) but when he ditches her, a heartbroken Abdullah steps in to marry her and save her izzat. As the two begin their wedded life and start developing feelings for each other, Shanze also gets married to a narcissist and when her marriage doesn’t turn out to be the way she imagined, she is impressed by Abdullah’s attitude towards his wife and sets her sights on him — giving birth to a love triangle.
Mahjabeen
As they say, ‘jorian asmano main banti hain’, Mahjabeen and Abdullah are perfect for one another and their compatibility has been perfectly encapsulated with Bilal and Yumna’s chemistry which is lit. Atiqa Odho, who plays Bilal’s mother in the drama has even compared their chemistry to Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan’s in Humsafar and I have to say that I do agree with her to an extent. Playing simple and comic characters is never easy but both the actors have outdone themselves with their performances. The romance between the two leads is perhaps the main reason why this drama has made it into the hearts of the audiences. It is so innocent, yet so endearing that you can’t help but sigh. Add to that, a strong performance by Rana as the devilish Sarwar and you have a winning team.
Sarwar
Meanwhile, the writing and direction is also brilliant. The dialogues are fun and witty and each scene has been well thought out and director Farooq Rind has made sure that everyone puts forward their best fronts. Another thing I’d like to point out here that the drama is not without a message. The writer and director have neatly weaved the concept of harassment into the storyline making the drama a perfect example of how to use entertainment to create awareness without making it sound like a sermon.
Pyar Ke Sadkay is a delightful watch and one you should definitely watch while in isolation because it is bound to put a smile on your face and make you forget about ‘corona times’ for a while.
The drama also features Khalid Anam, Gul e Rana, Shermeen Ali, Danish Aqeel, Ashan Mohsin among others and airs every Thursday at 8 pm on Hum TV.
14-year-old singer Sirine Jahangir – the only contestant of Pakistani origin on Britain’s Got Talent – has gone on to become a huge sensation on the show. She hopes to make it to the final.
Born in 2005 in London, Sirine started losing her eyesight gradually from the age of five. By the time she was 10, she had completely lost it. Sirine excelled at sports and dancing was her favourite pastime.
Speaking to a news outlet, Sirine’s father Kafeel Jahangir shared that during his trips to the UK, the late Junaid Jamshed used to sing with Sirine and teach her about music. Sirine uses music and her story to inspire other people with disabilities.
Sirine is also the granddaughter of Sahibzada ‘Chico’ Jahangir who is an active Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) member. He is currently serving as Prime Minister Imran Khan’s spokesperson on Trade & Investment in UK & Europe. Fauzia Kasuri is Sirin’s aunt while the late singer Junaid Jamshed was her uncle.
Every Monday she visits a school to teach a young 6-year-old boy who has the same condition as her. She teaches him Braille and gives him the confidence to believe in himself and not let his challenges hold him back.
As the teasers of Bushra Ansari’s latest drama, Zebaish, hit the screens and are doing the rounds on social media, the veteran actor says she is done with “saas-bahu” dramas which is why she decided to work on something different. Ansari remarked that drama makers need to move away from the traditional storylines which depict a mazloom larki and focus on something with more substance. And from the look of the teasers, it appears that she has succeeded in achieving that because the teasers of Zebaish promise a story which is dark yet intriguing.
Without giving away the theme or plot of the drama, Ansari said that her upcoming drama Zebaish, which she has also written, aims to step away from the typical storylines that build on a woman’s distress. She said as drama makers, it is their responsibility to upgrade the audiences.
Talking about Zebaish, Ansari said that the drama’s story has multiple interconnecting tracks.
“The drama will focus on the complexities of human nature and how one’s behaviour defines their life,” said Bushra while speaking to The Current about it from Toronto where she is currently isolating.
She said that the drama will show raw human emotion and shed light on the human feelings of insecurity and selfishness. The actor further shared that in order to make the serial entertaining for the viewers, they have added a lot of glamour and drama. The teasers also show shrine culture and when asked about this, Ansari said that the spiritual and Sufistic elements have also been weaved into the plot.
Shedding light on her character, Ansari said that her character is of a simple, yet confident woman, and how relationships and loss affect her personality and life. She also revealed that she plays a glamorous star in the drama.
The drama also features Ansari’s sister Asma Abbas, niece Zara Noor Abbas and Zara’s husband Asad Siddiqui. Talking about why she chose her family members, Ansari joked that it was convenient. However, she added that the actors suited the characters she had written and it’s not like she was giving them a big break.
“Asma, Zara and Asad are already well-established actors, so it’s not like I am launching their career. I wanted people who would be willing to listen, learn and not show unnecessary attitude on set which is why I decided to go with people I know,” said Ansari. She added that this was also the reason they managed to wrap up the shoot within four months because there were no unnecessary delays caused by actors and their “tantrums”.
“Asma, being a veteran is a professional, while Asad apna bacha hai,” said Bushra. “He was so involved in the drama that he would sometimes shock me too – the director made him rehearse 25 times for some scenes and he would willingly oblige. And Zara, Allah na karay woh nakhray karay. Uss say pehlay hee hum ussay seedha kardein.”
Other cast members include the legendary Shabbir Jan and Babar Ali, both of who were the director’s call. Both the actors will play Ansari’s husband in the serial.
When asked where she got the inspiration for the drama, Bushra shared that stories are all around us but developing a plot and writing a screenplay is what is tough. She revealed that it took her seven months to pen the screenplay for Zebaish because she was tied up in other commitments. She added that she has several other stories in mind but because the process of doing a drama is so tedious, it takes time for things to come into shape.
The drama has been directed by Iqbal Hussain and Ansari shared that though she had written the screenplay, she gave the director full authority to make any changes he wanted. She praised Ahmed for being a master at his craft and said that no one does dramatic elements and dialogues better than him.
Meanwhile, Zara Noor Abbas, on the other hand, had earlier shared that the project was very close to her heart as it was shot during a very difficult phase of her life.
Turkish historic drama series Diriliş: Ertuğrul has been trending ever since its first episode aired on PTV Home. Pakistanis are loving the drama series and it has become a sensation in the country to the point that PTV is now aiming to set a new record with the series.
In an exclusive interview with The Current, Senator and Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Faisal Javed Khan revealed that the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gifted the drama series to Pakistan as a goodwill gesture.
“When President Erdogan met PM Imran Khan, he gifted the series to him as a goodwill gesture,” said Khan, adding: “PTV did not have to purchase the drama or its rights. TRT gave the drama free of cost to PTV.”
It is pertinent to mention here that President Erdoğan himself is a huge fan of the series and has often visited the sets of the drama series and hosted the drama’s creators and cast.
Senator Faisal Javed further remarked that the youth nowadays have stopped reading books and enjoy watching videos more, which is why the best way to impart knowledge on history to the youth is through dramas, films and music. He said this was the aim of PM Imran Khan when he requested the state-owned channel to air Diriliş: Ertuğrul.
Meanwhile, addressing Shaan’s concerns, Faisal said that he has worked extensively with Shaan and discussed in detail the situation of the Pakistani entertainment industry. He said that like other industries, the previous governments have not paid much heed to the entertainment industry as well, which is why it is still underdeveloped. He also revealed that the government is working on a policy for the film and entertainment industry and that he hopes that it will be implemented soon. Khan also said that Bollywood films will not be returning to Pakistani screens anytime soon.
Khan further said that Islamic history has been extensively explored by different cinemas across the world including Turkey and Iran, which is why it doesn’t make any sense to spend further resources on the subject.
Following social media outrage and backlash, Adnan Siddiqui has now apologised to former captain of the Pakistan cricket team Sarfaraz Ahmed for ‘mocking’ him.
On the latest episode of Jeeto Pakistan, when Sarfaraz entered, Adnan said that he wanted to say something. In response, the host Fahad Mustafa joked “Pehlay in say pooch lein agar aap kuch sunana chahatay hain (First ask him [Sarfaraz] if wants to listen).”
Sarfaraz quipped, “No, no, there is nothing to say.”
When Adnan insisted, Fahad said, “Aap meray, Sarfaraz kay, humaray baray hain. Aap humain thappar bhi maarein gay toh humain koi faraq nahi parhay ga (You are our senior. Even if you slap us it won’t bother us).”
“Ignore these unnecessary things,” Fahad continued. “We apologise to you that people make up such stories.”
However, Adnan did not stop and said, “Sarfaraz, I apologise to you, your fans, your family and your friends. I swear I did not mean to do anything which would hurt him. Or his friends.”
“Mitti pao, mitti pao,” remarked Fahad.
Sarfaraz then quipped, “Adnan Bhai you don’t need to say anything. I am not upset at all.”
Adnan was accused of ‘mocking’ his fellow captain Sarfaraz in an earlier episode of the game show outraging the cricketer’s fans, who took to social media to express their anger.
