‘Not happy’: Shahid Afridi schools Shaheen for bad bowling in semi-final

The former all-rounder asserted that even if Hassan Ali dropped an important catch, it doesn’t mean that Afridi should have lost hope.

“I am not happy with Shaheen in one area. Okay, so Hassan Ali dropped a catch but that does not mean you will bowl badly and get hit for three successive sixes,” Shahid Afridi said on Samaa TV.

“Shaheen has so much pace and he should have used it sensibly. Even if the catch was dropped. He should have used his head and tried to bowl outside off stump fast Yorkers with his pace. He is not that sort of bowler to be hit like that,” the former Pakistan captain said.

Shaheen set the World Cup on fire when he got rid of top players like Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul with a new ball in Pakistan’s big match against India. In the semi-final against Australia, he sent back the Australian captain Aaron Finch in the first over.

Cracking the three balls for sixes, the Australian keeper-batter sealed their spot in the final.

The host then asked, “So this confused them?” Ajmal further added: “They were trying to find my teesra and I took 24 wickets in that Test match series. Nasir Hussain came to me asking, where’s teesra? I told him that it’s coming.”

He revealed this in a programme on Express News with former cricketers Yasir Hameed and Imran Nazir. A fan shared his video on Twitter and it went viral after his hilarous revealation.

On November 13, 2017, Ajmal announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Currently, he is an assistant coach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) team Islamabad United.

‘ICC a politicised body, we need to reduce our dependence on it’: Ramiz Raja

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja has disclosed that 50 per cent of the board’s budget is based around the funds it gets from the International Cricket Council (ICC) whose “revenues are generated mainly from India”.

Appearing before the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial affairs on Thursday in Islamabad, Ramiz said it was time for PCB to reduce its dependence on funding from the ICC and start tapping the local market.

“ICC is a politicised body divided between the Asian and Western blocs and 90 per cent of its revenues are generated from India,” the PCB Chairman said.

Ramiz said the ICC had become more of an event management company and PCB would have to make its voice heard if it does not want a repeat of the cancellation of confirmed series by New Zealand and England.

What New Zealand did was unacceptable because till now they have not shared any information with us on what led them to abandon the series in Pakistan. But they are now trying to reschedule the series, he said.

Ramiz hinted of some good news regarding the postponed New Zealand series in a week’s time.

He indicated that the New Zealand cricket board was working on a new schedule to tour Pakistan.

Senator Raza Rabbani suggested that Pakistan should now not play against New Zealand and refuse any series but Ramiz pointed out that this would not be possible as Pakistan was part of the international cricket community.

The good thing is that they are working on something, which means they want to amend things with us, he said.

The New Zealand cricket team had arrived in Pakistan on September 11 for the first time in 18 years to play three ODIs and five Twenty20 Internationals but left on September 19 without playing any match after their government and security agencies advised them to return home citing “security concerns”.

Ramiz, in a candid briefing to the senators, also made it clear that he would unveil his plans for Pakistan cricket and the board in a week or 10-days’ time while in four weeks’ time he would have his team ready.

“To me, it is simple if the national team cannot do well and win matches, it means that everyone in the board from the tea man to the top official have failed in their duties,” he said.

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan booked for drugs in rave party case

Shah Rukh Khan’s 23-year-old son Aryan Khan was booked on Saturday in a rave party case.

As per details, Aryan may be able to avoid any major punishment after being arrested, following a drugs raid.

According to Indian media outlets, a senior lawyer weighed in on the Bollywood actor’s chances with the law and revealed that since the drugs he had in possession were in small quantity, his offense is predicted to be bailable.

“The accused is alleged to be a member in the rave party from where some contraband was found in violation to provisions of NDPS Act. It appears that the quantity allegedly attributed to him for personal consumption is small quantity and not commercial quantity and therefore the offense will be bailable,” senior lawyer Maeed Memon said.

Gohar Rasheed pens a note for ‘abusive’, ‘spineless’ men, cites a scene from ‘Laapata’

Actor Gohar Rasheed has penned a long note for abusive men who think “physically abusing women is fine.”

Sharing a clip from his drama serial Laapata, the Digest Writer star turned to social media and wrote: “I hate the display of physical abuse on television. This is why I have always refrained from doing it in at least my own characters. It’s unfortunate but it has been done so frequently on our television that it’s almost become a subconscious reality for us.”

The Mann Mayal actor further added: “Apparently, physically abusing women is “fine” and any misogynistic, spineless man can get away with it, just like Daniyal thought in yesterday’s episode of Laapata. It may sound strange but The Thappad scene was the only reason as to why I took up the character of Daniyal.”

“To prove that oppression is a choice. If any insecure man with his fragile ego tries his so called muscles on you, make the choice that Falak did, without any fear! One tight slap back from a brave woman to such weak man in our society would be a giant leap for women kind”, he concluded.

“Girls like Falak rock. Men like Daniyal shock,” concluded Rasheed.

In the video, husband (Danyal) slaps wife (Falak) and she slaps him back with a warning to break his hands if he’ll think of doing that again.

Featuring a far-famed cast of Ayeza Khan, Sarah , Ali Rehman Khan and Gohar , Laapata airs on Hum TV. The drama is written and directed by Khizer Idrees.
