    Pakistan Cricket Team confirms participation in ICC World Cup 2023 in India

    The Pakistan Cricket Team has been granted the green light to travel to India for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2023, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) on Monday.

    In a press release, MOFA underscored the significance of sportsmanship and the country’s passion for cricket, stating that Pakistan has always promoted the idea that politics should be kept separate from sports. “Regardless of our bilateral relations with India, we believe in upholding our international sports-related commitments,” the statement said.

    However, the ministry also expressed deep concern about the safety and security of the team during their stay in India. These concerns have been duly communicated to both the ICC and Indian authorities. The MOFA stressed, “Pakistan, however, has deep concerns about the security of its Cricket Team. We have conveyed these concerns to the International Cricket Council and the Indian Authorities.”

    The MOFA’s statement also recalled India’s refusal to send its cricket team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. In contrast, Pakistan’s decision to participate in the World Cup in India exhibits a constructive and responsible approach, as emphasized by the ministry.

    This decision marks an important step in separating sports from political tensions, while prioritizing player safety and maintaining international sportsmanship standards. As preparations for the ICC World Cup 2023 continue, the world eagerly anticipates the performances of the participating teams.

    Arbaaz comes from the Indian city of Jodhpur. He is related to Armeena. An Indian outlet reported that a previous family member had also married a woman from a neighboring country.

    Arbaaz’s father Mohammad Afzal spoke to the local media, telling them that the ceremony was held in a simple way in a virtual ceremony.

    “A grandson of mine is a chartered accountant, who is married to a girl from Pakistan. Seeing their happiness, Ameena’s family asked our son’s hand in marriage, which we accepted,” the father gushed about the wedding.

    Arbaaz revealed to the media that his wife would be applying for a visa, and said that the ceremony was held online otherwise they would have to obtain visas twice.  “I didn’t marry in Pakistan as it would not be recognised and we would have to remarry on reaching India.”

    Previously, an Indian woman named Anju travelled to Pakistan, to marry her lover Nasrullah, after meeting him on Facebook.

    Afterwards a string of marriages sprung up on the news, including women from Chile, China and Mexico, all travelling within the same month to marry the Pakistani men they met on social media.

    The alleged perpetrator, identified as Chetan Singh, is reported to have triggered the train’s alarm chain and disembarked at Borivali station in a bid to evade capture. The victims of the shooting spree have been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Tikaram Meena, Abdul Qadir(48), Akhtar Abbas Ali(48), and Sadar Mohammed Hussain.

    Sources from Western Railway suggest that the altercation leading to the shootings had escalated from an argument that assumed a communal dimension. P C Sinha, Inspector General cum Principal Chief Security Commissioner of Western Railway, attributed Singh’s actions to his mental health issues. “Constable Chetan Singh had just returned from leave and shot his superior first and then those who were in his path,” stated Sinha.

    After shooting a Muslim man Singh said “If you wish to stay in India, then just Modi and Yogi”.

    Authorities have apprehended Singh and handed him over to the railway police for further investigations. The motive behind the tragic incident is still being investigated. This unsettling incident has shaken the railway community and raised questions about mental health checks and firearm access for railway personnel.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said on Tuesday that Pakistan has “nothing against anybody” and he is willing to talk to India for regional development.

    We are prepared to talk with everyone, even with our neighbour, provided that the neighbour is serious to talk serious matters on the table because war is no more an option,” the prime minister said, addressing the inaugural session of the Pakistan Minerals Summit in Islamabad.

    Ties between the two arch-rivals have been suspended since the annexation of Jammu and Kashmir by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in 2019.

    Mentioning the three major wars between the two countries, Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is a nuclear power but only for its defence.

    “If there is any nuclear flashpoint, who will live to tell what happened? So (war) is not an option,” he said, stressing that India should understand the same.

    Shehbaz Sharif also said that the two countries cannot become “normal neighbours” unless abnormalities are removed and unless our serious issues are understood and addressed through peaceful and meaningful discussions.

When she bravely resisted, the attackers resorted to physical violence, subjecting her to a brutal beating. Notably, the girl’s cousin, who rushed to her aid, was also attacked by the assailants.

    Shocking footage of the incident has circulated on social media, showing the attackers using iron rods and bats to assault the victim’s cousin.

    Outraged by the appalling act, members of the Muslim community and local Congress party lawmaker Noori Khan took to the streets and staged a sit-in protest outside the Ujjain SP office, demanding justice for the victims and stringent action against the perpetrators.

    Noori Khan expressed her deep concern and empathy for the victim after visiting her at the Ujjain Civil Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries. Ms. Khan took to Twitter, stating that the victim’s agony and the disturbing sequence of events have left her shocked.

    Adding further details to the incident, the victim herself took to her Twitter account and revealed that five men were involved in the brutal attack.

    Law enforcement authorities have been urged to take prompt action in identifying and apprehending the culprits to deliver justice to the victims and send a strong message against such heinous crimes.

    The incident has also sparked conversations on social media platforms, with netizens coming together to condemn the act and call for measures to ensure the safety of women in public spaces.

The action star was speaking at the trailer launch of his upcoming film ‘Gadar 2’ where he called for both India and Pakistan to put aside their differences and not allow what he termed “the political game” to keep creating rifts between the two countries.

    “The essence lies in humanity, not in taking or giving. A conflict between the two sides should not prevail. There is love on both sides. It is the political blame game that creates hatred between India and Pakistan, a theme reflected in this film. Both nations comprise of people who seek peace, as we are essentially one and the same.”

    On Twitter, reactions from Indian users were mostly negative, who felt that the actor, who was also a member of the hardliner BJP, had spent most of his career making anti-Pakistani movies but now was flipping the narrative.

We accept Indian artistes, Indian cricketers, we accept everything good about India. But when this thing goes across the border, it becomes very political. I don’t know why.”

    The couple, residents of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, were also accused of attempting to sell their seven-year-old daughter. Police have rescued the baby and arrested the mother and the buyer of the infant.

    The father, Jaydev, is believed to be in police custody, despite some conflicting reports suggesting he is still at large. A local councilor has been quoted by Indian media as saying, “After selling the boy, Jaydev also tried to sell the girl on Saturday midnight. We informed the police. Police have arrested Jaydev.”

    Initially, it was reported that the couple had sold the baby to buy alcohol. Locals described frequent episodes of intoxication and quarrels within the family and with neighbors.

    The incident was uncovered on Saturday, July 22, when neighbors noticed the financially struggling couple’s sudden acquisition of an iPhone and the coinciding disappearance of their baby. Initially, the couple claimed the child was with a relative, but suspicions from the neighborhood led to police involvement.

    Upon police interrogation, the mother confessed to selling the baby and using the money to travel around West Bengal, creating Instagram reels. Subsequently, the police managed to rescue the baby from a woman named Priyanka Ghosh in the Khardaha area.

    Anju made waves both domestically and internationally for her decision to cross borders out of love, converting from Hinduism to Islam, and marrying Nasrullah, a resident of Upper Dir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The couple’s union took place last month in a local court overseen by a district and sessions judge.

    In a recent statement, Nasrullah expressed gratitude towards the interior ministry for the one-year visa extension granted to his wife. He confirmed that all necessary documentation has been shared with the relevant authorities and appreciated the cooperation and assistance they’ve received from various Pakistani departments and institutions.

    Anju’s decision to cross borders for love has not only captured hearts but also led to heartwarming gestures of hospitality from the Pakistani community. Last month, Anju was presented with a parcel of land and monetary gifts as an appreciation of her embracing Islam.

    Mohsin Khan Abbasi, the CEO of a prominent real estate company in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, gifted Fatima Rs50,000 and a 10 marla housing plot. A video circulated on social media showed Abbasi visiting the newlywed couple, Anju and Nasrullah, at their home.

    He expressed his intentions during this visit, emphasizing that such gifts were to ensure Anju felt welcome and at home in her new country.

    Anju’s heartwarming journey began on July 22 when she entered Pakistan through the Wagah border, with her beloved Nasrullah waiting for her in Rawalpindi. Originally granted a month-long visa, that have now been extended to one year.

    Under strict security measures, the couple was brought to the district courts, where a judge recorded Anju’s statement and performed the nikkah ceremony. In her statement, Anju asserted that her visit to Nasrullah, aged 29, was entirely of her own free will, and she expressed happiness in marrying him.

    After the nikah, the couple swiftly departed the court premises without interacting with the media, as reported by locals. They later visited the picturesque Lowari Top area, capturing moments of their journey in a video that subsequently went viral on social media.

    According to Indian media reports, Anju was previously married to Arvind Kumar in 2007. The couple are parents to a 15-year-old daughter and a six-year-old son.

    A day prior to her court marriage, Anju released a 40-second video message, urging the media not to disturb or harass her relatives and children in India, as she was in the process of returning home, which she expected to complete within two or three days.

    Anju clarified that her travel to Pakistan was entirely legal and well-planned, emphasizing that she had taken time to make the decision.

    In an interview with Indian media, Anju’s father announced that he was breaking all ties with his daughter. He told media that the family had no idea that Anju was planning to travel to the neighbouring country and marry a Pakistani man.

    In answer to a question, he said that Nasrullah, who is now his son-in-law, had messaged him and shared videos of the engagement, to which he told Nasrullah that he has nothing to do with it. He was very clear that if his daughter was getting married to someone by her own will, what could he have done about it. It’s her choice, he said.

    35-year-old Ms. Anju has arrived in Upper Dir district to spend time with her 29-year-old Facebook friend, Nasrullah. Ms. Anju, hailing from the Kailor area of Uttar Pradesh, holds valid travel documents to visit Nasrullah’s village, Kulsho, reports Dawn.

    An Upper Dir district police officer, Mushtaq Khan, confirmed that her visa is legal, allowing her to stay in the region for a month.

    Ms. Anju revealed that she and Nasrullah initially connected on Facebook, and their friendship eventually blossomed into a deep love, leading her to make the decision to travel from India to Pakistan.

    Both Ms. Anju and Nasrullah informed the police that they are in love with each other and intend to get married.

    Ms. Anju is a divorcee and follows the Christian faith. She arrived in Rawalpindi, from where Nasrullah accompanied her to Dir Upper on July 22. On the other hand, Nasrullah, a permanent resident of the village, holds a BSc degree from Government College, Dir.

    Authorities have confirmed that Ms. Anju’s travel documents are in order, and she has been permitted to stay with Nasrullah, with instructions for him to take care of her during her visit.
