Is Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani ready to purchase Liverpool FC?

One of the most renowned football clubs in the world—Liverpool F.C.—has been approached by Indian billionaire businessman Mukesh Ambani with a takeover bid, according to several media reports.

Ambani is the eighth richest man in the world with a net worth of more than $90 billion. He is the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Ltd and is an avid sports fan. Currently, he is the owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Mumbai Indians, and is the founder of the Indian Super League (ISL).

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) purchased the membership of the football club in 2010 and the group is now reportedly preparing to sell it for £4 billion.

The current owner’s decision to sell the club comes after Liverpool’s poor start to the domestic season.

Though cricket continues to be the most followed sport in India, football is now slowly catching up.

However, the news is not officially confirmed as it has been not verified by the billionaire’s company yet.

‘I think our team looks good, we might just win the final’: Imran Khan

Imran Khan, the chairman of PTI, expressed high hopes for the victory of Pakistan’s cricket team in the Twenty20 World Cup final.

“I’m confident that Pakistan has a team capable of winning the World Cup InshAllah,” Imran Khan said, speaking at Piers Morgan’s TalkTV show.

Imran Khan, who was delighted with the Men in Green’s thrilling victory, compared it to the 1992 World Cup, saying, “We overcame New Zealand in the semifinal and then we played England in the final.”

The victory has brought much-needed encouragement to the Green Shirts, who are now looking forward to the final, Khan stated with a smile. “The entire country is celebrating the success,” he said.

“I think our team looks good. I think we might just win the final.”

The group led by Babar Azam prevailed by seven wickets in the semifinals. The Men in Green easily attained the 153-run mark that the Black Caps had set for Pakistan.

Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper-batsman, and captain Babar Azam combined for a 105-run partnership. The partnership was broken when New Zealand dismissed Babar for 53 in the 12th over. Pakistan needed to make 47 runs off of 43 balls at that point.

But the Men In Green had made significant progress by that point. The scoreboard was maintained moving along by Rizwan and Mohammad Haris till the wicketkeeper went out caught at run out at 57.

The final ball of the 19th over resulted in Haris being caught at short fine leg. Pakistan won the game by seven wickets in the very next over.

  • ‘Pakistan definitely out-bowled, out-batted and out-fielded New Zealand’: Former Indian captain Anil Kumble

‘Pakistan definitely out-bowled, out-batted and out-fielded New Zealand’: Former Indian captain Anil Kumble

Anil Kumble, a former captain of India, said on ESPNcricinfos T20 Time Out show that Pakistan “definitely out-bowled New Zealand, they out-batted New Zealand, but most importantly, they out-fielded New Zealand, which is very, very rare.”

Tom Moody, a former all-rounder for Australia, picked up a specific moment during New Zealand’s powerplay that was a reflection of Pakistan’s level of dedication on Wednesday.

“The tone for me was set with one piece of fielding,” Moody said. “And it’s not the run-out. It’s before the run-out [of Devon Conway]. It was by Shadab [Khan], who was at mid-on, dived and stopped the ball from going for four.

“Kane Williamson played a beautiful on-drive, a straight on-drive, and he [Shadab] saved two runs. And that to me set the tone for the way they were going to operate as a team. You talk about body language but you need moments like that to lift the unit and that’s the standard that he basically said ‘this is the standard we are going to set today.”

New Zealand was limited to 38 for 2 on the powerplay as a result of Pakistan’s outstanding fielding in the circle. Shadab’s straight shot to run out Conway produced the second wicket. Pakistan eventually managed to restrict New Zealand to 152 for 8, winning with seven wickets and five balls remaining.

Kumble applauded Haris’ contribution to the match, which includes his 89 runs with a strike rate of 161.81 since joining the team to fill in for Fakhar Zaman.

“Looking at him [Haris], he looks like a free spirit,” Kumble said. “He’s not bothered about getting his eye in or what if the first ball he gets out. That’s what you want in a T20 game.”

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson said that “We were put under pressure early, they bowled really well and it was thanks to an unbelievable knock from Daryl Mitchell that we got some momentum back.

“At halfway, we thought it was a competitive total because we knew the pitch was a used surface, it was tough.

“But it’s really disappointing to not make Pakistan work harder for those runs, they were absolutely outstanding today and credit has to go to them.”

In the meantime, Shoaib Akhtar, a Pakistani fast bowler, was also overjoyed with Pakistan’s victory.

Former South African allrounder Vernon Philander joined in congratulating Pakistan for making it into the final.

Wasim Akram added his congratulations to those on the side of Pakistani team.

Irfan Pathan, an Indian all-rounder, sent a message as well, praising the Pakistani team for overcoming a near-certain elimination from the competition to reach the final.

  • Elon Musk fires more than 90% of Twitter India staff

Elon Musk fires more than 90% of Twitter India staff

Twitter Inc. terminated more than 90 per cent of its employees in India over the weekend, “severely depleting its engineering and product team in a prospective growth area.”

The firing frenzy is part of global reductions by new owner Elon Musk.

.According to persons familiar with the situation who spoke to Bloomberg on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the subject, Twitter’s India offices employed just over 200 people before the cuts, leaving it with only about a dozen employees. The offices are in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and New Delhi.

Due to its sizable potential pool of new online users, India is a crucial growth engine for international internet companies like Twitter, Meta Platforms Inc., and Google, a division of Alphabet Inc.

The businesses must comply with “increasingly strict regulations” intended to rein in giant digital enterprises in the country.

According to one of the employees who spoke with Bloomberg, the product and engineering teams in India that worked on a worldwide mandate accounted for roughly 70 per cent of the jobs that were eliminated.

  • Apple steps up iPhone 14 production shift from China to India

Apple steps up iPhone 14 production shift from China to India

In an attempt to expand its manufacturing base outside of China, Apple has recruited another assembly partner for the iPhone 14 production lineup in India, according to Bloomberg.

Following Foxconn, which started making the iPhone 14 models in India in September, Taiwanese contract maker Pegatron will manufacture the model in the country.

The iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and most recently the iPhone 14 are all produced at Apple’s Taiwanese assembly partners Foxconn, Wistron, and Pegatron’s iPhone manufacturing facilities in India. The production of the most recent model has seen a significant reduction in the time between Chinese and Indian output from months to weeks.

In the five months since April, Apple has exported $1 billion worth of iPhones from India. Despite being modest by Chinese standards, India’s rising iPhone production indicates Apple’s willingness to invest there as a rival to China’s dominance in electronics assembly, which has recently been weakened by the latter’s zero-COVID policy.

Following an epidemic at the factory, which resulted in the metropolis of nearly 10 million people being shut down, Foxconn’s major Zhengzhou plant, which employs about 200,000 people, has been subject to the same limits. According to one report, when COVID-19 rules in China become more stringent, iPhone production might decrease by as much as 30 per cent the following month.

Despite the coincidence of events, Apple’s long-term production development plans in India are unrelated to China’s lockdown issues, even though they do serve to emphasise the company’s utter reliance on only one nation.

Apple is playing a long game by shifting its production lines away from China, one that won’t have a significant influence on its supply chain for many years. According to a recent Bloomberg article, it would take eight years to relocate just 10 per cent of Apple’s production capacity from China, where over 98 per cent of iPhones are still produced.

  • Why are Indians boycotting Cadbury chocolate?

Why are Indians boycotting Cadbury chocolate?

People in India are boycotting Cadbury chocolate over the allegations that the gelatine used in Cadbury’s goods is “derived from beef”. #BoycottCadbury has been trending on Twitter since Sunday.

On social media, a screenshot of what appears to be a Cadbury website was extensively shared and claims that the gelatine used in their goods is “halal approved and sourced from cattle.”

As per NDTV- an Indian media news outlet, the screenshot is from an older version of the brand’s Australian website.

Another reason Cadbury products are being boycotted is because a recent advertisement by the company uses “Damodar” as the name of a poor lamp seller. Customers are claiming that this has been done to show “someone with PM Narendra Modi’s father’s name in poor light”.
